The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [124]

"Kaeya!" Klee’s eyes lit up as she saw him coming down the stairs, excitement radiating from her small frame.

"Kaeya? What do you mean by ‘adding more people’?" Lumine asked curiously.

Kaeya spread his hands in an exaggerated gesture. "Well, with all the work Jean has taken on recently, I was planning to delegate some tasks to other Knights. But since you’ve already volunteered to help, Lumine, it seems we have more capable hands on deck."

"Huh?" Lumine raised an eyebrow. "What exactly are you saying, Kaeya?"

"I’m complimenting your incredible efficiency, of course." Kaeya’s tone was smooth as he flashed his usual smile. "In fact, both Sara from Good Hunter and Charles at Angel’s Share have urgent requests piling up. How about you take care of those as well? What do you think?"

"...So your idea of ‘helping’ is just giving me more work to do?"

Lumine squinted at Kaeya suspiciously, her thoughts drifting toward whether she should inform Jia Changjiang about Kaeya's "newly learned sword techniques" to cause some mischief.

Kaeya laughed awkwardly. "Now, now, I’d never do such a thing. Actually..."

"We’re secretly planning to give Acting Grand Master Jean a day off," Kaeya said, grinning conspiratorially. "Most of the Knights have already been informed. We’re taking over her duties for the day."

Kaeya shrugged. "But we’re still short on manpower, which is why we’d love to have Mondstadt’s famous and enthusiastic Honorary Knight lend a hand!"

Lumine kept her skeptical gaze locked on him. "I still feel like you’re trying to pull one over on me."

"Yeah!" Paimon chimed in, nodding emphatically. "Kaeya always gives off this vibe like he knows everything but can’t be trusted. So sneaky!"

"Such harsh criticism," Kaeya said, shaking his head with a mock-wounded expression.

Klee, meanwhile, tugged at Lumine’s skirt. "Honorary Knight Sister, let me help too!"

Standing on her tiptoes, Klee tried to make herself look taller. "I’m the Spark Knight of the Knights of Favonius! Super reliable!"

"Alright! Decision made!"

After a quick moment of consideration, Lumine turned to Kaeya. "I’ll do it."

It only took her seconds to plan out her day. First, she’d help Klee tackle the residents’ requests. Then, she’d head to the Dawn Winery to collect the Darknight Hero’s hush money. After that… it would be time to return to the Knights’ headquarters and spend some quality time with Jean!

Perfect plan.

Meanwhile, outside Mondstadt in Whispering Woods, an Abyss Mage appeared near a small mound of earth marked with a crooked wooden sign.

"Ahh... I sense it!" the Pyro Abyss Mage hissed. "So this is where Mondstadt’s so-called strongest treasure is buried."

It eagerly began digging at the mound, uncovering a round, doll-like object. It was adorable yet radiated an overwhelming Pyro energy.

"Ohhh, such intoxicating Pyro energy!" the Abyss Mage exclaimed, trembling with excitement. "No wonder they call this Mondstadt’s strongest treasure!"

The Mage clutched the item tightly, enveloping it in a protective shield of Abyssal power. It was precisely the potent Pyro aura emanating from the treasure that had led it here.

"With this, I can surely destroy that otherworldly intruder in a single blow!" it cackled. "Once I figure out how to wield this treasure... it’ll be the end for that traveler! Hahaha!"

Laughing maniacally, the Abyss Mage vanished into the depths of Whispering Woods, leaving behind the disturbed mound and the crooked wooden sign.

Unaware of this theft, Klee was happily working alongside Lumine and Paimon at Good Hunter, preparing dishes for the restaurant.

"Tada! Fisherman’s Toast!" Klee triumphantly presented a plate of toasted bread with a golden, aromatic crust to Lumine and Paimon. "Honorary Knight Sister! Paimon! This is the dish Jean taught me to make after lots of practice. Try it!"

Meanwhile, Lumine was wearing a white chef’s hat she’d found somewhere, an apron tied around her waist as she stood in Good Hunter’s kitchen. She worked with the confidence of a seasoned chef, flames roaring as she stir-fried with gusto.

Even Sara, the chef of Good Hunter, couldn’t help but comment in admiration. "Traveler, with cooking skills like yours, it’s a shame you’re not a chef!"

"Traveler, you’re such a good cook! Why don’t you ever make your own meals?" Paimon grumbled through bites of toast.

"Because I’m lazy! And I like eating more than cooking," Lumine replied, completely unapologetic.

"Don’t say that like it’s something to be proud of!"

While Lumine diligently worked on her tasks, over at the ancient ruins being used as a base by the Abyss Mages, Diluc and Jia Changjiang had arrived, armed with intel about the location.

"Using a ruin as their base—classic Abyss Mage behavior," Diluc remarked as he stood at the entrance. Yet, he made no move to draw his greatsword.

Jia Changjiang, meanwhile, was already holding his battle axe, practically bouncing with excitement. "So, when do we charge in?"

"Hm?" Diluc glanced at him, bemused. "Isn’t this the part where you pull out that strange pickaxe of yours and we dig our way in instead?"

Jia Changjiang blinked. "Huh?"

"If there’s a simpler way to solve a problem, there’s no need to overcomplicate things," Diluc said, eyeing Jia Changjiang’s battle axe with mild surprise. "Or were you planning to just barge in headfirst?"

"...You and Kaeya really are brothers," Jia Changjiang muttered, pulling out a Minecraft-style pickaxe with a sigh. "You’ve been corrupted, Master Diluc."

"I’m not so inflexible," Diluc replied, taking the pickaxe from Jia Changjiang. "If the Abyss Mages want to plot against Mondstadt, they should expect Mondstadt to plot right back."

He explained casually, "Using the tools at hand is simply practical."

"You sound a lot like that Honorary Knight traveler," he added.

"Haha!" Jia Changjiang laughed, producing another pickaxe. "I’ll take that as a compliment. And since we’re friends, how about you give me and Venti a discount on wine next time?"

Diluc’s response came instantly, without hesitation. "No."
