The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [126]

“Why are we looking for that bard?” Diluc asked, frowning. “He has nothing to do with this situation.”

“Venti’s not just some bard—he’s Barbatos, the Anemo Archon. Besides, he genuinely cares about Mondstadt,” Jia Changjiang explained, waving his hand dismissively. “Having him with us will make things a lot easier.”

Jia Changjiang extended his hand toward Diluc. “You have your aspirations for Mondstadt, and I have my reasons for loving this place.”

“The Abyss Order is planning something big. Handling this alone, even as the Darknight Hero, isn’t realistic.”

He grinned. “Let’s gather more people, come up with a plan, and deal with this crisis together.”

“Relax. I know you don’t trust the Knights of Favonius much, but we’ve fought alongside each other plenty of times—me, Lumine, Venti... we’re all reliable.”

Jia Changjiang’s confidence was evident as he assured Diluc. “So let’s head back, brainstorm, and work together. Everyone here is capable.”

---

While Jia Changjiang was praising his companions, Lumine was running all over Mondstadt with Klee, chasing after a cat to retrieve a stolen string for Venti’s lyre.

Venti trailed behind, sneezing violently due to his allergy to cat fur, keeping his distance from the mischievous black cat they were pursuing.

After a comical chase around the city, Lumine finally captured the cat, aptly named Little Prince, and handed it back to its owner.

“A bard afraid of a tiny cat? That’s just ridiculous!” Paimon couldn’t hold back her laughter as she teased Venti.

“I’m not scared of it!” Venti protested, sneezing mid-sentence. “It’s just... I’ve always been sensitive to cat fur. A—achoo!”

Wiping his nose, he grumbled, “It’s the same reason I avoid the Cat’s Tail tavern. The drinks are amazing, but there are just too many cats!”

Venti sighed wistfully. “Sure, Jax helps me smuggle out bottles, but some drinks just don’t taste the same unless you enjoy them on the spot...”

“Alcohol?” Klee tilted her head curiously. “Oh! Diona works at the Cat’s Tail as a bartender! I don’t really know what bartenders do, but is alcohol a yummy drink?”

Klee’s innocent question came with wide, inquisitive eyes.

Since Klee often brought Diona strange items—lizard tails, butterfly wings, frogs—she’d been curious about her friend’s work.

“Don’t teach Klee bad habits!” Paimon scolded, stroking the cat in Lumine’s arms before flying over to Venti. Her motion sent a flurry of fur into the air, triggering another sneezing fit from the bard.

“Alright, let’s return Little Prince to Miss Margaret and finish Jean’s last commission!” Lumine declared. “The final task is dealing with hilichurls on the trade route near Springvale. Speaking of which, haven’t there been more hilichurls outside Mondstadt lately?”

Venti, in the middle of another sneeze, paused to reply. “That does seem to be the case. But the Knights have improved significantly since Jax arrived. There’s no need to worry.”

With a chuckle, he added, “I’d bet that when the Knights return from their field duties, they’ll be surprised by how much the remaining forces have changed.”

“You still have commissions to complete, don’t you?” Venti gestured dramatically. “I, however, have an important performance tomorrow night. I must prepare.”

“Performance?” Lumine looked at him skeptically. “You? A performance? Don’t you spend all your time drinking?”

“I’m the best bard in Teyvat. Of course I’d have performances!” Venti puffed his chest out proudly. “Besides, tomorrow night’s audience deserves nothing less than my very best.”

A sly grin spread across his face. “And someone’s promised me unlimited wine if it goes well.”

“Sounds like classic Venti.” Paimon rolled her eyes, hovering by Lumine’s shoulder.

---

After returning Little Prince to Margaret, Lumine was preparing to part ways with Venti when a familiar voice called out to them near the fountain.

“Venti! Lumine! And... Klee?”

Jia Changjiang, with Diluc walking beside him, waved as they approached.

“Mr. Jax and Lord Diluc? What a strange pairing,” Paimon remarked, tilting her head as she examined the duo.

“Lumine! I’ve got big news!” Jia Changjiang said enthusiastically. “Want to hear it?”

Over the next few minutes, Jia Changjiang outlined the Abyss Order’s plans to attack Mondstadt, explaining their traps targeting Jean, himself, and the Darknight Hero. While he avoided revealing the latter’s identity due to Klee’s presence, Lumine couldn’t help but scowl.

“What the heck?! I helped so much, and the Abyss Order doesn’t even consider me a threat?”

Clenching her fists, she demanded, “Where are those Abyss Mages?”

“Tomorrow night, at 10 p.m. They’ll attack Mondstadt’s main gate,” Jia Changjiang replied, grinning. “And they’ve brought reinforcements from Dragonspine—an elite Chieftain, the Frostarm Lawachurl, just for me.”

“I’m planning a direct confrontation,” he continued, licking his lips. “They say these Chieftains are the pinnacle of hilichurl strength, combining raw physical power with elemental energy. It’d be a shame not to test myself against one.”

“...What?” Lumine blinked. “Didn’t you just say the Abyss Order has traps in place?”

“Yeah, but Mondstadt has more than just the two of us,” Jia Changjiang replied matter-of-factly. “Even hilichurls know to gang up in a fight. Why shouldn’t we?”

Clenching his fists, he added, “As long as we stay sharp, their traps won’t work. We can prevent them from targeting the Darknight Hero or catching Jean off guard.”

“Think about it.” His grin widened.

“If we crush the first wave of attackers tonight, the Abyss Order will have to reveal themselves and deploy their so-called ultimate weapon. If we take them out before they can use it, that ‘one-hit-kill’ treasure won’t even be a threat!”

“But let’s be cautious,” Jia Changjiang admitted. “We can’t exactly count on the Abyss Order blowing themselves up with their own weapon, right?”
