The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [130]

The winds around Jean surged to a new intensity, forming a tempest far greater than before.

This time, her battle with Jia Changjiang wasn’t just a duel—it was a testament to her convictions.

In the focused exchange of blades, Jean had long discarded her earlier doubts.

Her stance as a knight was resolute, and with every clash, the faces of those she had sworn to protect—every citizen of Mondstadt—flashed through her mind.

She had chosen to safeguard Mondstadt’s songs and freedom, and for that, relentless effort was non-negotiable.

Jean had always been aware of her shortcomings.

She wasn’t a conqueror capable of forging legends, nor was she a hero like the Lionfang Knight, who carved paths of light through corruption and darkness.

There were many things she couldn’t do.

But there were also many things she could.

Whether it was helping with petty arguments, romantic woes, or disputes between neighbors—if someone asked for help, why shouldn’t she give it?

She was the Acting Grand Master, but before that, she was a knight.

No matter how small or trivial the task, she chose to defend freedom and peace.

Jia Changjiang’s words echoed in her mind, but she rejected the idea that she hadn’t understood her true duty.

To her, every part of Mondstadt deserved protection. Every citizen, every patch of land accompanied by the wind, was worth safeguarding.

Thus…

“I will not tarnish the name of the Dandelion Knight. I will become the shield and sword that protects everyone.”

The windstorm grew stronger, roaring to life around Jean.

Jia Changjiang, standing just outside the eye of the storm, grinned with exhilaration.

“Jean, you really do love Mondstadt to its core!”

His voice rang out, carried by the wind. “That’s it! My words couldn’t sway you, and that’s how it should be!”

Jia Changjiang raised his longsword, locking his eyes on Jean.

Confusion? Hesitation? Uncertainty about her path and purpose?

None of that mattered anymore.

From the start, Jia Changjiang had never intended to shake her resolve.

Those who bore Visions, regardless of when or why they received them, were chosen because of their unyielding will.

If a person’s conviction could be so easily swayed by another’s words, could it even be called a conviction?

“People with Visions are such incredible beings…” he murmured to himself.

Then, gripping his longsword with both hands, he crouched low into a charging stance.

“Does a Vision make someone strong? Don’t be ridiculous…

“It’s their beliefs—their spirit—that gives them that strength!”

Jia Changjiang charged forward with full force, aiming to meet Jean’s clarified resolve head-on.

The wind around Jean seemed to welcome him, drawing leaves from the Great Tree into its spiraling currents.

On the sidelines, Lumine and Paimon watched the escalating battle with wide eyes. The air was thick with tension, neither side showing any sign of backing down.

A moment later, Jean let out a sharp cry, the winds around her bursting outward with renewed intensity.

The sheer force of her Anemo energy whipped through the grass, forcing Paimon to clutch Lumine’s shirt to avoid being blown away.

Meanwhile, Lumine’s gaze was fixed on the duel, her expression filled with anticipation.

Within the storm, Jia Changjiang met Jean’s charge head-on. Their clash was like an explosion, two opposing forces colliding with all their might.

When the dust settled, Jean stood panting, her sword trembling slightly as its tip hovered just in front of Jia Changjiang’s chest.

Jia Changjiang’s longsword, however, had been broken—its blade cleaved cleanly in two.

The sword’s tip fell to the ground between them with a soft clang.

“You win. How does it feel?”

Jia Changjiang bent down, picking up the broken blade tip.

“Jean, your resolve… it’s something truly remarkable,” he said, his tone full of admiration.

“Jax… if you had used a better weapon, you wouldn’t have lost to me,” Jean said hesitantly as she sheathed her sword.

“A win is a win. No excuses,” Jia Changjiang replied, handing her the hilt of his broken sword. “You’ve lost to me once and now beaten me once. What’s there to complain about?”

He gave her a lopsided grin. “Don’t waste time on needless words. Savor your victory… and your strengthened convictions.”

Tossing the broken blade into his system space, he added, “Consider this your gift.”

“A gift?” Jean blinked, surprised.

Before Jia Changjiang could elaborate, Lumine pounced on him, clamping a hand over his mouth and hanging onto him like a koala.

“What Jax means is that you’re amazing, Jean!” Lumine declared, using Anemo energy to seal Jia Changjiang’s mouth shut.

Turning to Jean, she continued, “The title of Dandelion Knight suits you perfectly!”

Paimon chimed in enthusiastically, “Yeah! You were so cool, Jean! Absolutely amazing!”

Jean flushed slightly at their praise but smiled warmly. “Thank you, Lumine. Thank you, Paimon.”

After a moment, she tilted her head curiously. “Are you sure there’s nothing else you’d like to say?”

“Nothing at all!” Lumine and Paimon shook their heads in unison.

“Well then… Lumine, perhaps you should let Jax go now,” Jean suggested, her gaze shifting to the struggling Jia Changjiang.

“Hm?” Lumine glanced down to see Jia Changjiang weakly tapping her hand in a silent plea for air.

Realizing she had inadvertently cut off his breathing, she panicked.

“JAX!!!”

Jia Changjiang hadn’t expected that letting Jean win would lead to him nearly suffocating at Lumine’s hands.

When he finally awoke, his first sight was an ornate ceiling that looked far too expensive for comfort. Beneath him, the makeshift bed of several chairs felt lumpy but serviceable.

“Ah, you’re awake~”

A familiar voice teased him. Turning his head, Jia Changjiang found Venti crouched beside him, a playful grin on his face as he poked Jia Changjiang’s cheek.

“How does it feel to get a nice, long nap?”
