Self Portrait Process and Color Tips

Here are some color samples from the painting, showing how you could apply this more practically:
There are often greens in the beard area as well as blues, and very often you can just use a desaturated skin color to act as blue, instead of a literal blue.
By the way, subsurface scattering colors are most often fully saturated orange/reds, so don't be afraid to go wild there.
