The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [146]

[Main Quest: Stage Complete]

[“City of Freedom” (Completed)]

["Freedom is the right to do anything that does not harm others. Freedom is the ability to pursue happiness. Freedom is… an undefinable concept."]

["You have witnessed the god of Mondstadt, the God of Freedom, who has accompanied the people of this city for millennia. The God of Freedom is never truly absent from the City of Freedom and remembers each child's name, their experiences, and their lives."]

["This is Barbatos’ answer to what freedom means."]

["You’ve seen the struggles of the Wind Dragon, who gave all it had. You’ve glimpsed the gentleness hidden in the Wolf of the North."]

["You’ve encountered those who have sworn solemn oaths to protect the people’s freedom, those who walk tirelessly through the night in pursuit of dawn, those who would aid anyone in need, and more."]

["How do you, as a warrior, perceive this city of freedom?"]

Lying on the carriage bound for Liyue, Jia Changjiang listened silently as the system’s voice faded into the background. Eyes closed, he felt the gentle sway of the carriage as it left Mondstadt behind.

“Mondstadt… is a good place.”

He opened his eyes and looked at the system interface, reading the long, reflective summary of the completed quest.

There were no rewards, no newfound strength, just a reflective monologue.

But…

“It feels good,” Jia Changjiang muttered, lifting the item in his hands.

It was a photograph taken at Mondstadt’s gates with a Fontaine camera. Both he and Lumine had a copy.

The image showed a crowded group of familiar faces huddled together, each person laughing or smiling. A small grin tugged at Jia Changjiang’s lips as he carefully stored the photo alongside his other personal belongings in his inventory.

Mondstadt was a place he’d remember fondly.

The journey to Liyue by carriage was faster than traveling on foot, but it still took quite some time.

Jia Changjiang, Lumine, and Paimon lounged in the comfortable vehicle, the boredom of the long trip weighing on them.

To their relief, the carriage itself was luxuriously furnished—courtesy of Diluc, who had arranged it for them. Though his demeanor had been as frosty as ever, his actions spoke volumes about his generosity.

Lumine sprawled out in her seat with a sigh, sinking into the cushions like she was modeling a fashion statement for relaxation. “So we’re not walking to Liyue after all… I really thought we’d be trekking there, just like when I walked all the way to Mondstadt.”

Paimon, for once, wasn’t floating. She lay on the soft seat cushions, her tiny limbs limp as though she had completely surrendered to inertia.

“Walking? Mondstadt to Liyue is far, and there’s a giant mountain range—Dragonspine—in the middle,” Jia Changjiang said, lounging lazily with the weariness of a man pushing thirty. His slouched position radiated the exhaustion of someone who treasured these rare moments of peace.

“How long did it take you to reach Mondstadt, anyway?” Jia Changjiang asked offhandedly.

Lumine held up her fingers, counting. “Let me think… from waking up, to finding Paimon, and then walking all the way to Mondstadt… over two months.”

“And now, it’s just a quick carriage ride,” she grumbled. “Having money really does make a difference…”

As Lumine murmured to herself, she began pondering ways to earn more Mora. She recalled hearing that Liyue’s governing Qixing were immensely wealthy merchants, especially the Tianquan, Ningguang, whose influence and fortune spanned all of Teyvat.

Her eyes sparkled with a sudden idea. Pulling out a mirror, she inspected her reflection and then turned to Jia Changjiang with a mischievous question.

“Jax, do you think a cute girl like me could attract a rich patron in Liyue?”

“...What?” Jia Changjiang stared at her, completely baffled. “What are you even talking about?”

“Never mind,” Lumine sighed, setting the mirror aside. She glanced at Jia Changjiang’s muscular frame and muttered under her breath, “Maybe they’d prefer someone more rugged…”

Jia Changjiang sat up slightly, raising a brow. “What was that?”

“Oh, nothing!” Lumine replied hastily. “I was just wondering what Liyue people like most.”

“I know!” Paimon perked up at the mention of Liyue. “If Mondstadt is known for its wine, then Liyue is famous for… food!

“Liyue has the most diverse cuisine in all of Teyvat, with tons of different styles. The most famous are the Liyue-style and Yue-style dishes,” Paimon explained, already salivating. “I heard there was a scholar from Sumeru who set out to taste every dish across the Seven Nations. He started with Liyue and… five years later, he still hadn’t left!”

“Really?” Lumine’s eyes lit up with excitement, her exhaustion forgotten. “Is Liyue’s food really that good?”

“Absolutely,” Jia Changjiang chimed in before Paimon could answer.

Though his homeland belonged to another world, Liyue’s culture felt deeply familiar to him, and his fondness for its cuisine was unmistakable.

“When we get there, I’ll show you all the best food in Liyue.”

Lumine tilted her head, her curiosity piqued. “Jax… Your name… Jia Changjiang… It kind of sounds like a Liyue name.”

She squinted at him. “And you always use chopsticks when you eat…”

“Just a coincidence,” Jia Changjiang said with a casual shrug. “But Liyue has more than just great food.”

He opened the carriage window, gesturing for Lumine to look outside. “Here. Take a look.”

Lumine leaned over to see what lay beyond. Towering mountain peaks loomed in the distance, their summits shrouded in swirling clouds. Closer to the road, the carriage rolled past expansive wetlands covered in fields of silvergrass, their stalks swaying gently in the breeze like rippling waves.

As she took in the breathtaking view, Lumine rested her hand on the windowsill, the wind playing with her hair.

“This place…” she whispered, almost to herself, “is beautiful.”
