The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [157]
Added 2024-12-28 17:43:05 +0000 UTCThe following morning, Lumine groggily wriggled out of her sleeping bag like a sleepy caterpillar. Her hair was a mess, her eyes half-lidded as she surveyed the room.
Through her blurry vision, she spotted Jia Changjiang sitting by the door.
“Morning, Jax…” she mumbled.
“Morning.”
Hearing his response, Lumine sluggishly got up, rummaged through her bag for her toiletries, and began her morning routine.
Paimon, stirred awake by Lumine’s rustling, floated over unsteadily, grabbing a small cup and some tiny toothbrushes from Lumine to clean up alongside her.
However, when they finished and turned back toward Jia Changjiang, the sight that greeted them caused Lumine to drop her cup in shock.
“Jax- Jia Changjiang?!”
Lumine’s eyes widened as she stared at him. Dressed in a monk’s robe, holding a sturdy iron monk’s staff in one hand and a begging bowl in the other, Jia Changjiang looked every bit the part of a wandering ascetic.
“What the heck happened while we were asleep?! Why do you look like a monk?!”
Jia Changjiang, still seated, turned to gaze at the rising sun. After a moment of silence, he spoke in a calm, reflective tone. “Perhaps it’s destiny. Last night, I encountered something that made me see the futility of worldly desires…”
“What nonsense are you spouting?!” Lumine exclaimed, running over to grab him by the collar and shake him. “You’re not some enlightened monk! You’re a battle-crazy brute!”
“And there’s no meat in this breakfast of yours! How do you expect us to eat this?!”
“Relax.” Jia Changjiang brushed her hands away, his expression unbothered. “This outfit? I made it last night. I just thought it’d be fun to wear while we visit the Adepti today.”
He pulled a string of iron prayer beads from his robe pocket and held them up. “Look, I even crafted some beads. Oh, and I have gifts for you and Paimon after breakfast.”
Draped in his monk’s robes, wielding a monk’s staff, and holding prayer beads, Jia Changjiang looked almost like a true monk—if one could ignore the fact that all his “holy” tools were forged from solid steel.
“Gifts?”
Lumine and Paimon, though puzzled by Jia Changjiang’s behavior, were intrigued enough to let it slide. They quickly finished the surprisingly decent vegetarian breakfast he’d prepared.
Lumine wiped her hands on her sleeve—then immediately used Jia Changjiang’s robe to clean off the rest. She stretched out her hands eagerly. “Okay, done! Where’s the gift?”
“Paimon gets one too, right?” Paimon chimed in, holding out her tiny hands.
“Of course. Here’s a tiger pelt skirt and an iron rod for Lumine, and this nine-tooth rake is for Paimon.”
Jia Changjiang solemnly handed them the items he had drawn from the system’s gacha the night before.
Lumine held up the tiger pelt skirt and iron rod, her expression incredulous. “Jax, do you think I haven’t read Journey to the West?!”
“Oh, you’ve read it? That’s perfect!” Jia Changjiang clapped his hands together. “We’ve come from Mondstadt in the east and are now heading west to Jueyun Karst to seek wisdom. It’s just like a pilgrimage!”
He struck a dramatic pose, pointing his monk’s staff toward the western mountains. “Amitabha. Lumine, let us embark!”
“Embark my foot! Why are you acting like we’re part of some holy journey?!”
---
In the end, Lumine begrudgingly donned the tiger pelt skirt and carried the iron rod, while Paimon held the small rake. The trio made their way toward Huaguang Stone Forest, their next destination.
As they traveled, they passed by one of Liyue’s Seven Statues of the Seven.
Standing before the statue, which depicted the Geo Archon in a dignified pose holding a cube, Lumine tilted her head in curiosity.
“So this is what the Geo Archon looks like?”
Paimon’s eyes lit up as she remembered something. “Hey, Traveler! When you touched Mondstadt’s Statue of the Seven, you could resonate with Anemo, right? What if you can resonate with Geo if you touch this one?”
“I’m not sure… But I can try.”
Lumine pressed her hand against the statue. The moment she made contact, the energy of Geo flowed into her body, reawakening a significant portion of her sealed power.
“It works!” Paimon exclaimed, clapping her hands.
Lumine flexed her fingers, marveling at the strength coursing through her. “My power… it’s returning.”
She turned to Jia Changjiang with a triumphant grin. “Jax, with my strength restored, you don’t stand a chance against me anymore!”
“Really?” Jia Changjiang hefted his monk’s staff with a gleam in his eye. “How about we test that right now?”
Lumine faltered, shrinking back. “No way! You’re way too aggressive when you fight. I’m not dealing with that.”
She muttered under her breath, “I’ll wait until I can actually beat you…”
“Hey, aren’t we close to finding the Adepti now?” Paimon interjected, peering at the distant Huaguang Stone Forest. “The last Adeptus had a pretty bad temper. Maybe the others will be nicer?”
Her musings filled the air as they leapt off Qingyun Peak, gliding toward Huaguang Stone Forest.
But just as they landed, something unexpected happened.
The ground beneath Lumine suddenly shifted, and a translucent amber-like substance began to spread, wrapping around her leg.
“What the heck?!”
Lumine tried to pull away, but the amber continued to crawl up her leg, encasing it.
“Traveler’s being punished by the Adepti!” Paimon gasped, her face pale. “They’ve already spotted us, haven’t they?!”
“Help me!” Lumine cried out, struggling against the amber. She managed to avoid being completely trapped, but her leg remained bound.
Jia Changjiang raised his monk’s staff and brought it down on the amber with a resounding crack.
“Don’t worry, disciple! Your master will save you!”
“Who’s your disciple?!” Lumine yelled, her face red with embarrassment.
