The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [256]

Not long after, the group found themselves hiding at a safe distance from one of the other pillars. Lumine and Jax crouched behind his shield while Paimon hovered nearby, nervously clutching a large Remembrance Stone.

To reassure Paimon, Jax had gone all out, using Black Dragon materials to craft a tiny, custom-made set of black-scaled armor just for her. The little outfit gleamed faintly in the dim light as she flew hesitantly toward the pillar.

Occasionally, Paimon glanced back at Jax and Lumine with a mix of irritation and desperation.

“Go, Paimon! Once you finish this, I’ll buy you all the delicious food you want!” Lumine cheered, her voice muffled by her strategic position behind Jax’s shield.

“Don’t worry, Paimon! Just press the stone into place and fly back quickly!” Jax added, his tone encouraging.

“But...” Paimon pouted, clutching the oversized stone tighter. How had the argument between Jax and Lumine earlier ended with her being the one to install these stones?

With a resigned sigh, Paimon flew up to the pillar. Finding the slot for the stone, she gritted her teeth and slammed the Remembrance Stone into place. The pillar rumbled ominously, prompting Paimon to dart back toward Jax’s shield as fast as her tiny wings could carry her.

The moment she was safely behind the shield, the pillar exploded with a thunderous crack, revealing its inner mechanisms.

“I-I did it...” Paimon panted, trembling slightly from the experience.

“Great job, Paimon!” Lumine exclaimed, grabbing her by her short legs and holding her up triumphantly. “Keep it up—just seven more to go!”

“Seven more?!” Paimon shrieked. “Traveler, you’re the worst! Help me, Jax!”

But Jax merely whistled innocently, pretending not to hear.

One by one, Paimon reluctantly installed the remaining stones, her technique improving as she went. By the end, she had mastered the art of quickly placing the stones and retreating to safety behind Jax’s shield, watching as each pillar cracked open.

When the ninth stone was in place, a low rumble echoed through the area. The massive stone door in the heart of Cuijue Slope began to tremble and slowly opened, revealing the entrance to a hidden ruin.

“We did it!” Lumine cheered, pumping her fist.

Teucer, clutching Lumine’s hand, stared at the ominous doorway. “Do you think there’s really a One-Eyed Little Treasure inside?”

The group moved closer to the ruin’s center, where they found a weathered stone tablet inscribed with ancient text.

"All conflict in the world stems from the nine desires of the human heart..."
"Nine pillars stand to bring peace, sealing away the chaos of war. May the blade never rise again."

After reading the inscription, the group turned toward the now fully opened stone door, their curiosity growing.

“This ruin must be hiding some incredible treasure,” Lumine mused, her anticipation clear.

They stepped into the ruin, and magical lamps flared to life, illuminating the vast interior. Though the space remained dim, it was enough for them to make out the details.

Inside was an expansive underground chamber, its scale and craftsmanship awe-inspiring. Towering statues flanked the entrance, their expressions carved with solemn precision.

“Wow! This place is enormous!” Paimon exclaimed, her voice echoing slightly.

“And it looks valuable. Look there!” Lumine pointed to a glowing, fiery red stone sitting in the chamber’s center. “Is that the treasure?”

“Uncle, look!” Teucer’s voice rang with excitement. “It’s a One-Eyed Little Treasure!”

Sure enough, a Ruin Guard sat motionless next to the glowing stone, its single eye dim but intact.

“One-Eyed Little Treasure!” Teucer cried, ready to rush forward, but Jax caught him by the back of his shirt.

“Hold it. Don’t run off. That One-Eyed Little Treasure is dangerous.”

“Dangerous?” Teucer blinked in confusion. “But it’s a hero of justice! How could it be dangerous?”

“Jax, maybe don’t shatter the kid’s dreams,” Paimon whispered, glancing nervously at Teucer.

Jax sighed, ruffling Teucer’s hair gently. “Alright, fine. That’s someone else’s One-Eyed Little Treasure. Even heroes of justice can’t always play with everyone.”

“Someone else’s?” Teucer tilted his head, the explanation slowly sinking in. “Oh, I get it! My brother sells One-Eyed Little Treasures, so other people can have them too.”

“That’s right.” Jax smiled, though his eyes remained focused on the Ruin Guard.

“Why don’t you and Lumine step outside and take in the view for a bit?” Jax suggested, adjusting Teucer’s hat playfully so it slipped over his face. “When you come back, maybe this One-Eyed Little Treasure will be ready to meet you.”

“Really?!” Teucer’s face lit up with excitement.

“Jax, are you sure you don’t need help?” Lumine asked, hesitating.

She activated her Elemental Sight, noticing a strange energy flowing from the glowing stone into the Ruin Guard.

“Don’t worry about me. Just keep Teucer safe,” Jax replied. “Besides, if Zhongli gave you those stones, it’s probably because there’s something in here meant for you—or something he wanted you to see.”

“Fair enough...” Lumine muttered. “Alright, Teucer, let’s give Uncle Jax some space.”

As Lumine and Teucer made their way outside, Jax turned his attention back to the Ruin Guard. Setting down his spear and shield momentarily, he retrieved a set of armor forged from Black Dragon materials.

Piece by piece, he donned the sleek, black-scaled armor: a helmet, chestplate, gauntlets, belt, and greaves. Once fully equipped, his figure was completely encased in the menacing, jet-black armor.

“Alright. Let’s test this new battle style.”

Gripping his spear and shield once more, Jax faced the Ruin Guard. His voice echoed confidently through the chamber.

“Now then, let’s see what you’ve got. The current me is stronger than ever.”
