The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [260]

Having tracked down the Treasure Hoarders who owed a massive debt, Childe was ready to collect.

He stood before them, exuding calm confidence. “You know why I’m here, don’t you?”

The leader of the group, Wu Lao’er, raised an eyebrow. “What’s with the cryptic nonsense? If you’ve got something to say, just spit it out! Trying to join us with that rich-kid look? You’d better think twice.”

“Ha...” Childe chuckled coldly, his smirk unwavering. “Imaginative, aren’t we?”

“In the name of Her Majesty, the Tsaritsa of Snezhnaya, I’ll forgive your ignorance this time. Now, listen carefully to my title!”

Childe was just about to declare his infamous alias when a familiar voice cut him off.

“Brother!”

“…Teucer?”

Caught completely off guard, Childe froze mid-sentence. He turned to see his little brother running toward him, face glowing with excitement.

“What are you doing here?!” Childe exclaimed, his usual composure slipping.

“Are you promoting toys, brother? That’s amazing! I’ve always wanted to see you work!” Teucer gushed. “What’s your title, brother? Tell me!”

“I…” Childe glanced at Teucer’s eager face, then at the dumbfounded Treasure Hoarders, and finally at Jax and Lumine, who were standing nearby with mischievous grins, making no effort to help.

Resigned, Childe raised his hand dramatically. “I am… Snezhnaya’s finest toy salesman!”

Paimon couldn’t hold it in any longer and let out a snort. Jax and Lumine didn’t even try to stifle their laughter, their voices echoing across the clearing.

“That’s so cool!” Teucer exclaimed, clapping his hands, completely oblivious to the absurdity of the situation.

“…Are we being mocked?” Wu Lao’er muttered, glaring at Childe.

His companion, Wu Lao’er, nodded warily.

Childe cleared his throat, trying to regain control of the situation. “Let’s make this simple. Snezhnayan toys, three months old, six hundred thousand Mora—paid in full, right now.”

His tone was sharp, emphasizing the key words in hopes that the Treasure Hoarders would catch on.

Wu Laoqi stared at him in disbelief. “Toys? Six hundred thousand? What are you—”

“Use that money to fix your brain,” Wu Lao’er sneered, and the group burst into laughter.

Teucer, meanwhile, turned to Lumine, beaming. “See? My brother’s toy sales make everyone so happy!”

“...He’s definitely spreading joy,” Lumine managed, barely suppressing her giggles.

“Let me clarify,” Childe said, his patience wearing thin. “Snezhnayan toys. Three months old. Six hundred thousand Mora. Pay up.”

“Ha! It’s not funny the second time,” Wu Lao’er shot back, his tone growing aggressive. “You think you can come here and mess with us?”

Childe sighed deeply, pinching the bridge of his nose. If only Teucer weren’t here...

“Fine. How about I join your group? As a fellow Treasure Hoarder, you could pay me back as part of the deal,” Childe suggested, feigning interest.

“Join us?” Wu Lao’er scoffed. “You think we’ll just let anyone in? Prove you’re worth it first!”

“Give me a chance, then,” Childe replied coolly.

Wu Lao’er pointed to a distant location. “There’s a treasure site we found, but it’s heavily trapped. If you can retrieve what’s inside, maybe we’ll consider it.”

Childe chuckled. “It’s been a while since someone tested me like this. Watch closely.”

With that, he darted off toward the site like an arrow, leaving the Treasure Hoarders staring in disbelief.

As Childe dealt with the traps, Jax stepped out of the shadows. Towering in his black dragon armor, he looked every bit as intimidating as a monster.

“W-who are you?” Wu Lao’er stammered, stepping back instinctively.

“Just an adventurer,” Jax replied, his voice resonating through his helmet. “Hired by that ‘salesman’ to protect this kid.” He gestured at Teucer, who grinned from his perch on Jax’s shoulder.

“Any objections?” Jax asked, slamming the butt of his spear into the ground, leaving a visible dent.

“N-no objections!” Wu Lao’er stammered, sweat forming on his brow.

They turned their attention to Childe, who was dismantling the traps with ease. Mechanisms that had stymied the Treasure Hoarders for days fell apart in moments under his expert hands.

Realization began to dawn.

“Should we tie them up and hand them over to Keqing and Ningguang?” Lumine suggested, flexing her fingers. “That would make Liyue much safer, don’t you think?”

“Keqing? Ningguang? The… the Qixing?!” The Treasure Hoarders paled further at the mention of the two Liyue leaders.

“No need to jump to violence,” Jax said, leaning on his spear. “They’re still paying for their ‘toys,’ remember? Let’s enjoy the show.”

It didn’t take long for Childe to return, holding the treasure he’d retrieved. He tossed it at the Treasure Hoarders’ feet.

“So, does that mean I pass your little initiation?” Childe asked, his voice cold.

“Uh… can we discuss this for a moment?” Wu Lao’er stammered, huddling with his group.

The Hoarders whispered furiously.

“This isn’t an initiation! He’s just showing off!”

“We can’t beat them! That armored guy could crush us like bugs!”

“Wait, what if the toy thing was code? Three months, six hundred thousand Mora… Wasn’t that how much the boss borrowed?”

“…You think they’re debt collectors?”

“Professional ones! Look at that armor! It probably costs more than everything we own combined!”

Wu Lao’er chanced a glance at Jax’s dark helm, where the malevolent dragon-like design glinted ominously. He shuddered.

“Alright,” Wu Lao’er said, turning back to Childe. “Let’s... settle this peacefully, okay?”

Childe crossed his arms, smirking as the Treasure Hoarders scrambled to pool together the six hundred thousand Mora they owed.
