The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [270]

Ten minutes into their trek toward the mountain’s summit, Jax stood at the base of a cliff, holding a piece of crumbled rock in his hand, deep in thought.

Beside him, Bennett scratched his head sheepishly, flashing an awkward smile.

Earlier, the duo had tried to take a shortcut up the cliff to reach the meteor site faster. But just as they were about to climb over the ledge, the rock Bennett was gripping gave way, sending him tumbling backward.

Jax had grabbed him in time, but the massive boulder he was bracing against also crumbled under their combined weight.

Fortunately, both were sturdy enough to roll down the hill without injury.

“Sorry, Jax… This is probably my fault,” Bennett muttered, rubbing the back of his head.

“Don’t be ridiculous! Don’t pin this on luck. Sometimes things just happen,” Jax said, tossing the rock aside. “Don’t worry—while I’m here, nothing will go wrong. Let’s take another route.”

Despite his confident words, Jax found himself puzzled. This kid… he really has the worst luck, doesn’t he?

The second attempt didn’t fare much better.

Barely five minutes later, Jax and Bennett ended up in one of Springvale’s streams, drenched and scowling.

They had been ambushed on the mountain path by a horde of elemental Slimes—Pyro, Electro, and Hydro—bouncing around in chaotic unison. The resulting chain reactions of Overload, Electro-Charged, and Vaporize had sent both of them tumbling back down the slope.

“Again!” Jax growled, gritting his teeth.

This time, he opted for a gentler incline, approaching the summit slowly but steadily.

That worked… until they stumbled upon a camp of Hilichurls halfway up.

The ensuing battle delayed them even further. By the end of it, Jax was furious.

“This is ridiculous!” he bellowed, pulling out his massive black dragon spear and shield. Without hesitation, he charged straight through the Hilichurl camp, steamrolling everything in his path.

“Follow me, Bennett!”

But no sooner had he declared victory than the ground beneath them gave way.

The pair tumbled into a pitfall trap dug by the Hilichurls.

I will not accept this!

Gripping the edge of the pit, Jax hauled himself and Bennett out in one smooth motion, veins bulging as he shouted in defiance.

“Nothing will stop me from reaching that meteor! NOTHING!”

With one hand gripping his massive spear and the other his shield, Jax marched forward like an unstoppable force, leaving chaos in his wake.

Meanwhile, Lumine and Fischl’s exploration was far more serene.

The two of them had taken a different path, easily dispatching a few Slimes and even rescuing a local hunter, Alan, who had wandered too close to the meteor fragment.

“What’s that noise?” Lumine paused, tilting her head as faint roars and explosions echoed through the mountains.

“Such cacophony! It can only be the sound of a mighty force purging the dangers of this land. The black crystal nears, and this Prinzessin shall uncover its location, banishing the nightmares that plague the townsfolk!” Fischl declared, her dramatic tone unwavering.

“Fischl, your Vision is glowing!” Paimon pointed out, her curiosity piqued.

“Ah… Could it be that the icy curse itself trembles, aware that the powers of the Immernachtreich are sounding its requiem?”

“…What?” Lumine raised an eyebrow, glancing between Fischl’s Vision and her own fake Geo Vision.

“Hmph! Fake products are always unreliable,” she muttered under her breath, crossing her arms.

“What causes a Vision to glow anyway?” Paimon asked.

“The whisper of the abyss… the murmurs of the stars… the curse of the bones…” Fischl began listing cryptic phrases.

“Ah, so basically elemental energy?” Lumine cut in, simplifying.

With that, Lumine activated her Elemental Sight to scan for anomalies nearby. She also kept an eye on Fischl’s glowing Vision, using its intensity as a makeshift proximity detector for the meteor fragment.

Back on Jax and Bennett’s path, things were far from peaceful.

By the time the duo reached the upper slopes, they had cleared four Hilichurl camps, seven groups of Slimes, and even a couple of wild boar herds.

Jax, now clad in his black dragon armor, resembled a fearsome knight out of legend as he plowed through enemies with his colossal spear and shield.

As Bennett had mentioned, misfortune seemed to follow him wherever he went, but Jax had long since stopped caring.

When obstacles came, he crushed them.

When enemies appeared, he annihilated them.

This was the power of overwhelming force, a strength that brought both security and confidence.

Standing over the crumpled form of a defeated Mitachurl, Jax turned to Bennett.

“How’s your Vision? Is it glowing brighter yet?”

Partway through their climb, they’d noticed Bennett’s Vision reacting to the meteor’s energy. The glow served as a guide, helping them pinpoint the fragment’s location.

Unfortunately, despite all the chaos they had endured, they still hadn’t reached the meteor.

“…Sorry, Jax,” Bennett said sheepishly. “It’s probably my bad luck slowing us down.”

“You don’t have to stay with me,” he added hesitantly. “You’re strong enough to make it on your own. I’m just holding you back.”

Before Bennett could finish, he felt himself lifted off the ground. Jax had hooked him by the belt with his spear and was now carrying him like a banner.

“We’re finishing this together!” Jax roared, striding forward with renewed determination. “Luck or no luck, that meteor isn’t going to stop me!”

“I said it before—if something goes wrong, I’ll handle it!”

Just as the words left his mouth, a sudden snapping sound echoed.

Bennett’s belt broke, sending him tumbling to the ground.

“...Ahem. Like I said,” Jax repeated, straightening up. “If there’s a problem, I’ll handle it.”
