The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [275]

“It’s nothing much. Your Prinzessin is just as accurate,” Jax replied modestly, drawing his bow again. He aimed upward at an angle, his gaze fixed on the Fatui agents clustered near the meteorite. “Let’s make the most of our range advantage before getting too close…”
He released the arrow. A streak of white light shot into the sky, arced downward, and exploded near the Fatui Pyroslinger’s position. The resulting blast sent several agents sprawling.
Precision was one thing, but a wide blast radius? That was Jax’s real goal.
Like many practical-minded adventurers, Jax lived by a simple philosophy: if precision alone wasn’t enough, just increase the scale of destruction.
“Efficiency through overwhelming firepower,” he muttered with a smirk.
Lumine crouched nearby, watching as Jax and Fischl blanketed the Fatui with a barrage of arrows and bolts. She clicked her tongue in annoyance.
I was planning to show off in front of Fischl by taking down the Fatui myself… But no, Jax just had to hang back and rain destruction from a distance. Ugh!
She grumbled under her breath, “I’m going to learn archery too! As soon as we’re back in Mondstadt, I’ll ask Amber and Venti to teach me… Then I’ll have Jax make me a custom bow!”
“Even Jax knows how to shoot… Why don’t I?”
Bennett, overhearing her complaints, chimed in. “Archery’s pretty handy! Some of my dads were great with bows, but they’re too old to use them now…”
He scratched his head sheepishly. “It’s great for hunting, though. Saves you the trouble of setting up an ambush. I remember one commission where I tried sneaking up on a boar herd. Ended up getting knocked around for hours before I finally completed it.”
“Why are you so unlucky…” Lumine muttered, glancing at him sympathetically. “You were unlucky when you went out with Jax, too.”
“Yeah… but honestly, I think I’m super lucky!” Bennett exclaimed, his eyes shining with determination. “My dads told me they found me as a baby in some really dangerous place. They raised me together, and I’ve met so many amazing people since then. Sure, my luck’s bad, but it feels like a miracle that I’ve had such a good life!”
Despite the bandages covering his face and the scars on his hands, Bennett’s optimism was unwavering.
“So, even if I’ve got bad luck, I can still work hard to bring good luck to the people I care about!” he continued. “Someday, I’m going to find the world’s greatest treasure. Then my dads can live comfortably, and the Mondstadt Adventurers’ Guild will thrive!”
Lumine blinked, stunned by his heartfelt words.
What a good kid… A true gem of a person!
“You’ll definitely find that treasure someday!” she said, giving him a big thumbs-up. “Take this as a blessing from one of Mondstadt and Liyue’s greatest adventurers!”
“Thanks!” Bennett replied, his smile beaming.

Meanwhile, Jax and Fischl finished their long-range assault.
The group approached the now-unprotected meteorite, only to discover that this fragment was significantly larger than the others they had encountered—more like wreckage than a simple shard.
Those with Visions—Bennett and Fischl—and Lumine with her Elemental Sight could sense the immense elemental energy radiating from the debris.
“Let’s clean this up!” Lumine declared, stepping forward to claim the fragment for her inventory. But Jax beat her to it, gripping the meteorite with both hands.
She flinched. “Jax! What are you doing? What if you pass out like the others?”
Her warning was punctuated by Jax letting out a big yawn.
The meteorite’s residual energy indeed stirred a faint drowsiness in him, but it wasn’t strong enough to overwhelm him. Using his strength, he yanked the fragment from the ground and deposited it into his system storage.
The moment the fragment disappeared, the sleepiness vanished as well.
“You’re… not asleep?” Lumine asked, poking his cheek skeptically. “Are you sure you’re not sleepwalking?”
“Stop that. It’s fine—we’re both anomalies in this world, so this isn’t surprising.” Jax waved her off. “The meteorite’s dealt with, but the fact that the Fatui are involved and these fragments keep falling from the sky… Something’s definitely not right.”
He glanced upward, just in time to see a streak of blue light descend from the heavens, disappearing somewhere in the distance.
“We should handle this quickly. Let’s find some reinforcements when we get back.”
After finishing up at the site, the group returned to Mondstadt. Near the city gates, they discussed their next steps.
Lumine and Fischl decided to head to the Adventurers’ Guild to commission Mona for help. That way, Mona could earn some money while assisting with the meteorite investigation.
Jax planned to find Venti, hoping the bard might have insights into the fragments.
Bennett opted to visit the Guild as well, intending to consult his adoptive adventurer dads for any leads.
“Jax, don’t even think about slacking off and going drinking! We’re still on a commission!” Lumine scolded, her tone unusually serious.
Paimon gawked at her in shock. Did Lumine just say something responsible?
Jax shrugged and headed toward the Angel’s Share tavern. Once there, he ordered two glasses of dandelion wine and sat at a table, waiting.
It didn’t take long.
Venti appeared seemingly out of nowhere, sliding into the seat across from him and grabbing one of the glasses.
“Well, well! What’s up, Jax? You’re treating me to dandelion wine—must be something big!”
Jax pulled a small meteorite fragment from his pocket and placed it on the table.
“I want to know who this Constellation belonged to,” he said. “Help me out, and it’s unlimited drinks at Angel’s Share tonight—on me.”
