This was the innermost layer of the infinite void—a place no physical form could reach.

It was unlike the view from outside the world, suspended above the river of time.

Here lay the foundation—the bedrock of existence.

In the Jujutsu world where Gojo Satoru and Itadori Yuji resided, Zhongli found himself witnessing something utterly unique: “Spirits.”

They were not souls nor spiritual energy. They defied linguistic description, eluding all attempts to define them in writing.

If pressed, Zhongli would describe them as “The spirit inherent in all things.”

Viruses, microorganisms, paramecia, mollusks, humans, even curses—all carried a spirit.

The more complex a living being, the more pronounced and distinctive its spirit became.

Even human emotions—fear, envy, jealousy, greed, longing, hope, love—were imbued with spirit.

When such emotions coalesced, they gave birth to curses.

It followed, then, that the planet itself also had a spirit. Though incomplete, it carried the weight of humanity’s thoughts, which coalesced into environmental spirits: the spirit of the ocean, spirit of the sky, spirit of the land, spirit of volcanoes, spirit of forests, and even the spirit of humanity as a collective.

Yet, when these spirits were tainted by human emotions, they often manifested as curses.

Thus, as long as humanity existed, curses would persist.

Even if humanity were to vanish, the spirits would remain—pure and untainted. The skies, oceans, lands, volcanoes, and forests would still give rise to spirits, but without humanity’s presence, they would no longer be born from hatred or malice.

“How fascinating.”

Zhongli, appearing here in human form, narrowed his golden eyes as he observed this foundational layer of the world.

It was his first time witnessing such a scene—seeing a world’s essence that differed fundamentally from others he had encountered.

The reason this world diverged from the baseline world was its “spirits.”

If Teyvat was similarly unique, it might be due to the foundational nature of its seven elements and the Abyss.

If those elements and the Abyss had been absent from Teyvat’s creation, Zhongli mused, would it too have been a baseline world?

Perhaps the so-called “standard worlds” are nothing more than baseline worlds seasoned with different ingredients, each cooked into unique dishes.

...Yet there is too little information to confirm this hypothesis. Speculation without evidence is meaningless.

Zhongli reined in his wandering thoughts and refocused his attention on the Jujutsu world.

Standing amidst the endless void, he crossed one arm over his chest, resting his chin on the other hand.

Above, below, and on all sides, the indescribable stretched infinitely.

After several moments of silent contemplation, Zhongli sighed softly.

He extended his hands and broke all ten of his fingers, casting them into the void.

A gentle, golden light suddenly illuminated the darkness.

It appeared so naturally, so unceremoniously, as if it had always been there—or had just come into existence.

All the visible spirits were irresistibly drawn to the light, like moths to a flame, merging into its radiance.

Once this was done, Zhongli’s fingers seamlessly regenerated.

His face, however, seemed paler than usual, his exhaustion subtly evident.

“It’s time to leave,” he murmured, his voice a faint echo in the silent expanse.

Rising swiftly, Zhongli ascended from the unknowable depths of the infinite void, through the foundational sands of time, and back to the temporal river’s surface.

In an instant, he transformed again into his seven-headed dragon form, returning to his vantage above the river of time.

“So it shall be. The passage of time will reveal all.”

With these words, spoken to none but himself, Zhongli closed his fourteen golden eyes.

---

Moments later, he reopened them to find himself once again in the Jujutsu world.

In front of him, Itadori Yuji was still examining the crystalline finger in his palm, while Gojo Satoru’s expression betrayed a mix of curiosity and unease.

The silver-haired sorcerer stared at Zhongli, his brows furrowed.

“Zhongli-san... what did you just do?”

“Hmm...” Zhongli pondered for a moment before replying. “It is difficult to convey fully in words. Suffice it to say, I made some slight adjustments to your world’s foundational structure.”

His tone was calm and devoid of emotion, like that of a god pronouncing the inexorable flow of fate.

At that moment, a voice echoed in both Gojo’s and Itadori’s minds.

“I hereby declare:”
“From this moment forward, over the span of five decades, the curses and Jujutsu in this world shall gradually vanish.”

“In the first decade, curses that have been slain will not return.”
“In the second decade, the strength of human sorcerers will wane.”
“In the third decade, human malice will remain mere thoughts, unable to birth new curses.”
“In the fourth decade, no new sorcerers shall be born.”
“And in the fifth decade, the one true curse of this world, the Earth itself, will awaken to guide humanity away from its cradle.”

The voice carried an undeniable weight, compelling absolute trust. Simply hearing it made the declaration feel inevitable.

Gojo and Itadori stared wide-eyed at Zhongli.

“Wait, wait,” Gojo muttered, his voice caught between awe and trepidation. “That wasn’t a joke, was it?”

“This was a proclamation to the planet,” Zhongli replied with a faint sigh. “There was no falsehood in my words.”

“So, you’re saying...” Gojo’s voice faltered as he licked his dry lips.

“All curses and entities wielding Jujutsu on this planet have heard my decree,” Zhongli stated matter-of-factly.

“Whoa, whoa, whoa,” Gojo exclaimed, squinting with a growing grin.

“This is no small matter. Things are about to get very lively.”

He chuckled, his sharp eyes glinting with anticipation.

“With Zhongli-san’s declaration as the foundation, I can already imagine how the curses and the corrupt higher-ups in the Jujutsu world will react.”

Heh.

Gojo’s gaze sharpened further.

“This just keeps getting more interesting.”
