The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [310]

“Hiss…”

Jia Changjiang finally let go of the Festering Desire, the sword forged from remnants of Durin’s body.

“Well? Did you learn anything from the sword?” Albedo inquired, his gaze fixed on Jia Changjiang, eager for insights.

"Durin... I feel like I could probably wield this sword," Jia Changjiang mused, then shook his head. "But no, it’s better if Lumine uses it. Durin’s presence leaves me with an unsettling feeling."

“Unsettling?” Albedo jotted down Jia Changjiang’s impression. “Why is that?”

“It’s the twisted will from the very beginning,” Jia Changjiang explained thoughtfully. “A will warped beyond repair, destined to turn its bearer into an enemy, ensuring one side must destroy the other. It’s... grim.”

"Perhaps that’s why Barbatos and Dvalin chose to bring Durin down here centuries ago—to contain its corruption," Albedo reflected. "This mountain and Durin’s remnants are deeply intertwined. It’s the perfect place to uncover more about the corrupted dragon."

"Then let Lumine take the sword and strengthen it," Jia Changjiang suggested, waving dismissively. "I can’t purify its power anyway, and splitting up will give us a chance to cover more ground."

Jia Changjiang continued, "I’ve heard rumors from adventurers about an ancient city buried deep within this mountain. I want to explore and see if I can find any treasures."

"I’d like to go too…" Lumine hesitated, glancing at the sword. "But since I’m the only one who can use this thing, I guess I’ll focus on it first."

Lumine’s instincts as an adventurer told her there were hidden truths buried within Dragonspine—secrets waiting to be unearthed.

With the group splitting up, Lumine set out with the Festering Desire, seeking out monsters to feed the blade’s strength. Jia Changjiang, meanwhile, delved deeper into the snowy mountain, following a crude map.

Dragonspine was a realm of wonders and dangers. Ancient ruins dotted the landscape, remnants of a long-lost kingdom. The very stone pillars Albedo had once asked them to test were pieces of these forgotten structures.

Touching the cold, weathered stone, Jia Changjiang could sense the countless years that had passed since their construction. These ruins were silent witnesses to a bygone era.

Dragonspine was a strange and mystical place. The mountain’s eternal snow and ice radiated an unnatural cold. Just beyond its borders, flowers bloomed and birds sang, but a single step into its icy expanse brought a bone-deep chill.

Even the trees here were unique—towering pines that thrived despite the harsh climate.

The mountain was also home to automated mechanisms left behind by its ancient inhabitants. Carelessness could trigger their defensive protocols, resulting in a sudden and relentless attack.

At one point, Jia Changjiang stumbled upon a massive Ruin Grader, its colossal form towering above the snow. Unlike the ordinary Ruin Guards he’d encountered, this one was heavily armored and even more imposing. Jia Changjiang noted its location, planning to return and challenge it after completing his exploration.

The mountain offered other peculiar discoveries as well. Jia Changjiang found crimson stones that resembled gemstones, radiating heat. When struck, these stones transferred their warmth to the wielder, who could then use it to shatter ice that had resisted the elements for centuries.

Dragonspine’s most striking feature, however, was a gigantic hollow within the mountain. This void created a stark contrast between the mountain’s outer slopes and its hidden interior.

After hours of exploration, Jia Changjiang made some notable findings.

In several locations, he came across ancient monoliths. Some of them seemed to activate nearby mechanisms when touched. Near one such monolith, he discovered a weathered chest containing a mysterious artifact inscribed with unfamiliar symbols. Jia Changjiang pocketed the item, intending to seek an expert’s help in deciphering it later.

Most intriguing of all, he came across massive footprints in the snow.

The tracks resembled human footprints but were far larger, as though left by a giant. Despite the swirling snow obscuring the trail, Jia Changjiang followed the footprints relentlessly.

Eventually, they led him to the edge of a cliff.

There, seated on the precipice and gazing into the distance, was the Frostarm Lawachurl King.

Jia Changjiang had fought Lawachurls before, including one summoned by Abyss Mages to attack Mondstadt. That creature had been far stronger than ordinary Hilichurls, surpassing even most humans.

But the figure before him was different.

This Lawachurl was even larger, its muscular frame more imposing. Its presence exuded a quiet yet undeniable strength.

This must be the Frostarm King—the ruler of Dragonspine’s Hilichurls, the one from the rumors.

The stories flashed through Jia Changjiang’s mind:

“In the snowy mountain, a mighty Hilichurl king roams the land. For a thousand years, it has wandered these frozen peaks. To this day, its shadow can still be seen amidst the endless snow.”

"So, this is the legendary Frostarm King," Jia Changjiang muttered, his eyes narrowing as he studied the creature.

“Hilichurls can live for a thousand years? That’s quite the lifespan…”

Jia Changjiang instinctively reached for his weapon, preparing for a confrontation. But as he drew his sword and locked eyes on the Frostarm King, he noticed something unexpected.

The massive creature held a delicate, snow-white flower in its hand.

The Frostarm King opened its fingers, releasing the flower into the wind. The fragile bloom drifted gently away, carried by the mountain’s icy gusts.

Jia Changjiang froze, the scene halting his actions.

Lowering his weapon, he cautiously approached the Frostarm King.

The crunch of his boots against the snow broke the stillness. The sound wasn’t loud, but it was enough for the Frostarm King to notice.

The creature turned its head slightly, its icy armor glinting faintly in the pale light of Dragonspine. Its eyes locked onto Jia Changjiang with an intelligence that seemed far beyond that of an ordinary Hilichurl.
