The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [205]

“The Adepti have discussed this... it’s unlikely,” Ningguang said, shaking her head gravely.

The current situation was far from optimistic.

“But there are so many Adepti here! And the Qixing! And all those Millelith!” Paimon exclaimed, gesturing wildly at the scene around them. “Can’t they come up with a plan?”

“There is a plan,” a calm yet commanding voice interjected.

Cloud Retainer stepped forward, her tone confident. “After the recent inquiries into the Guizhong Ballista, the Qixing sought to investigate it. But mortal study of Adepti mechanisms... what could they possibly achieve?

“Now that this Adeptus, the original creator of the Guizhong Ballista, stands here, a few adjustments to its outdated design will allow it to evolve beyond your comprehension.”

Paimon’s jaw dropped. “Cloud Retainer made the Guizhong Ballista? No wonder it’s still functional after all these years!”

“But the name Guizhong... it sounds so familiar...” Paimon murmured, her brow furrowed.

“With this newly improved Guizhong Ballista, we can strike back at the ancient god. The Adepti here will channel their energy into the machine to unleash its full potential.

“There is no time to waste. The battle must begin!”

At Ningguang’s command, her elemental energy resonated with the Jade Chamber, activating a massive array of energy circles that expanded outward.

Three immense ballistae began to rise from the Jade Chamber’s platforms, their designs intricate and imposing.

“So these are the new Guizhong Ballistae?” Lumine asked in awe, marveling at their upgraded forms. “They look... incredibly powerful.”

Without hesitation, Cloud Retainer, Mountain Shaper, and Moon Carver flew to their respective positions atop the ballistae. As their Adepti energy flowed into the machines, an immense barrage of energy bolts formed in front of the weapons.

The barrage was unleashed in a relentless cascade, hurtling toward Osial. The storming ancient god’s colossal form trembled under the assault, the relentless impact forcing the sea to churn even more violently.

“Is this... a Gatling gun?!” Lumine blurted out in shock.

“It’s working!” Paimon cheered.

But their victory cries were cut short when mysterious fog-like portals began to appear around the Jade Chamber.

From the swirling mists emerged waves of Fatui soldiers, charging toward the Guizhong Ballistae with ruthless determination.

“The Fatui!”

Paimon clenched her fists in anger, turning to Lumine and shouting, “Traveler! Let’s go!”

Keqing was already on the move, drawing her sword as she barked orders. “Millelith who can still fight—rally to me! Defend the ballistae at all costs!”

Lumine followed suit, unsheathing her weapon and leaping from the platform to confront the incoming Fatui forces.

The sheer number of Fatui soldiers was overwhelming, unlike anything Lumine had encountered before.

They charged fearlessly, undeterred by the ancient god’s oppressive aura, their singular goal to destroy the ballistae.

“Three Adepti are channeling their energy into the ballistae! Don’t let the Fatui disrupt them!” the Millelith commander bellowed. “Hold the line! Charge!”

The Adepti above remained focused on the vortex ancient god, their expressions sharp with determination, but their fury at the Fatui’s interference was evident.

“Millennia have passed since Adepti and ancient gods clashed. Come, ancient god, let us see how much strength you still possess!” Cloud Retainer declared, her voice booming across the battlefield.

Meanwhile, Lumine and Keqing clashed with the Fatui forces, cutting down anyone who approached the ballistae.

The Fatui’s troops, enhanced with elemental energy and unyielding resolve, were relentless. Despite the Millelith’s discipline and experience, they struggled to hold back the tide of enemies.

Lumine fought with every ounce of her strength, but the numbers were daunting.

“Where’s Jia Changjiang?! He’s gone missing at a time like this!” Lumine growled, slashing her way through the Fatui.

As if on cue, a shadow suddenly hurtled down from above, smashing into the middle of the Fatui ranks. A massive chunk of stone accompanied the figure, scattering the enemy soldiers.

“Hahaha! Looks like I made it just in time!” a loud, brash voice echoed. “Didn’t miss the fun after all!”

Jia Changjiang’s booming laughter carried across the battlefield as his sudden arrival sent Fatui soldiers flying. One unfortunate soldier was grabbed and flung into another, both sent tumbling off the edge into the sea below.

Amid the chaos, the combatants turned to see a shirtless, broad-shouldered man standing proudly at the battlefield’s center. The crimson Exorcist’s Mark on his back glowed faintly in the rain.

“Bring it on, Fatui! Let me show you how it’s done!” he roared, hefting his monk’s staff.

“It’s Mr. Jax!” Paimon cheered, her eyes lighting up.

“Wait—he really went to drink?!” Lumine shouted, noticing the flush on Jia Changjiang’s face.

“He used raw floating stones to get here?” Ningguang muttered, narrowing her eyes at the boulder beneath him. “What a reckless method...”

“Jia Changjiang!”

Lumine vaulted off a fallen Fatui soldier, shouting, “Protect the ballistae!”

“Protect the ballistae? Got it!”

Jia Changjiang glanced around at the swarm of Fatui. “So... if I take out all these soldiers, the ballistae will be fine, right?”

Fueled by adrenaline and lingering alcohol, Jia Changjiang grinned wickedly. He licked his lips, letting the rain slick back his hair, then reached into the air and summoned his steel monk’s staff.

“You lot must’ve come here ready to kill—or die.

“In that case...”

Jia Changjiang swung his staff high, then brought it crashing down on a nearby Pyro Gunner.

The soldier’s final sight was Jia Changjiang’s resolute expression and the descending staff.

“I’ll face you all seriously.”

As blood washed from his staff in the rain, Jia Changjiang exhaled deeply, his face breaking into a grin once more.

“Come on!” he shouted.

“Let’s rumble!”
