Teyvat, Mondstadt, Cathedral of Favonius

"This is Barbara, the Deaconess of the Church and the specialist responsible for retrieving the Holy Lyre der Himmel."

Jean, Acting Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius, introduced the church's representative to the Traveler.

Barbara was a charming young girl with twin ponytails, dressed in the Mondstadt Church's uniform—a maid-like ceremonial outfit. The lace ribbons adorning her head added a touch of playful cuteness.

What caught the Traveler’s attention most, however, was her pristine white tights.

The youthful curves wrapped snugly in the tights seemed to brim with elasticity.

Thank you for the feast, the Traveler silently murmured, pressing her hands together in prayer. So absorbed was she in her own thoughts that she barely registered Barbara’s blessing.

Clap!

Barbara brought her palms together gently, tilting her head slightly like an idol performer. Her endearing gesture radiated a girlish charm.

“Thankfully, everything was resolved peacefully! I can’t imagine what would’ve happened if we had to mobilize forces to fight a dragon...”

Jean chimed in with a nod. “Resolving things this way has also deprived the Fatui of a prime opportunity to pressure the Knights of Favonius. It only further highlights the Winter emissaries' unreasonable conduct, without yielding any diplomatic gains.”

“Well, let’s set aside diplomacy for now. Did you bring the Holy Lyre der Himmel?” Barbara asked, her sky-blue eyes locking onto the Traveler’s own azure gaze. Placing her hands on her hips, her tone carried a hint of urgency. “The Acting Grand Master’s assurances aren’t infinite—His Eminence has already urged us several times.”

The Traveler hesitated slightly.

It was Paimon, the floating companion, who scratched her head awkwardly. “We… uh… brought it. But, um, well… it’s a bit…”

Barbara misunderstood, spreading her hands in response. “Oh? Don’t worry, the church doesn’t charge rent. There’s a special allocation for maintenance...”

Before she could finish, the Traveler pulled the broken Holy Lyre out of her backpack.

“What?!?!”

Barbara’s expression changed instantly. She staggered, dropped to her knees, and clasped her hands together in prayer. Her head bowed as she pleaded, “Lord Barbatos… breaking the Holy Lyre… not even my entire life spent in atonement would suffice…”

Ahhh~~~ Even when she’s sorrowful and distraught, Barbara is still so adorable.

With this thought in mind, the Traveler glanced at the nearby Anemo Archon, Barbatos, who was standing with an awkward smile.

Do something about this, will you?

Perhaps it was the Traveler’s gaze, or perhaps Venti already felt guilty.

Stepping forward, he took the Lyre from the Traveler’s hands. A sudden gust of emerald wind swirled around the Lyre, enveloping both Venti and the instrument.

The power of the wind filled the cathedral, its glowing green light spreading to every corner.

Within seconds, the cracks and damage on the Holy Lyre vanished, leaving it as good as new.

Barbara stared at the now-perfect Lyre, hurriedly snatching it up and hugging it tightly. She swayed side to side, clutching it as if it were a cherished lover.

“I don’t know how it got fixed, but I’m not giving it back to you again...”

With that, she bounced up the stairs like a startled deer, disappearing onto the cathedral’s second floor.

The Traveler, slightly regretful, tore her gaze away. Before she could say anything, Venti leaned in close and whispered, “The magic… er, spell I used to repair the Lyre isn’t exactly… stable. We should leave before anyone notices.”

Without waiting for a response, he turned and ran out of the cathedral.

The Traveler hesitated briefly, then followed him.

Just as she reached the entrance, an overwhelming sense of danger washed over her.

A thick darkness suddenly engulfed her vision.

Nearby, Venti, who had just exited the cathedral, was also swallowed by the shadowy veil.

Watch out!

There was no time to voice the warning. The Traveler stepped forward, summoning the power of Anemo granted by the Anemo Archon’s statue. The elemental energy coalesced into a protective sphere in front of her.

Clang!

The faint sound of a dagger clashing against the wind barrier rang out, sharp and clear.

“What?”

Venti reacted quickly, preparing to nock an arrow to his bow. But the two Fatui agents who had attacked melted back into the darkness, vanishing without a trace.

A crisp snapping sound echoed from the shadows.

Moments later, a chilling wind surged forth, freezing both the Traveler and Venti in place. The frost crept over Venti’s feet, immobilizing him entirely.

Click, click, click.

The sharp clack of high heels against the ground drew their attention.

A seductive woman sauntered forward, her revealing black-and-red gown accentuating her icy, alabaster skin. The faint blue veins beneath her translucent skin were visible, like fine etchings on polished marble.

What drew the Traveler’s gaze most, however, was her long, slender legs, exposed through the high slit of her dress. The legs, paired with black-strap heels, carried her with the grace and authority of a queen.

Thank you for the feast, the Traveler thought again, silently pressing her hands together in admiration, even under such dire circumstances.

“A Fatui Harbinger?” Venti growled through gritted teeth.

“Oh my, looks like I’ve finally found my little rat,” the Lady teased, her lithe form swaying as she stepped closer. “Nibbling on wood, gnawing on grain sacks.”

“You’re talking about hamsters, not rats,” Venti quipped, unable to resist a snide comment.

“Hmph, always so glib.” The Lady wasn’t angered. Instead, she turned to the two Electro Cicin Mages behind her, who were maintaining the barrier. “Buy us three more minutes. The Acting Grand Master is still inside the cathedral. While our barrier conceals the commotion perfectly, we can’t afford to be careless.”

“And you,” she added, turning back to Venti. “An Archon who rules Mondstadt yet shirks his duties. Something unnecessary should be given to someone who can make use of it.”

With no hesitation, she thrust her hand forward, piercing Venti’s chest.

The frost gathered in her palm, and moments later, she extracted a pure cyan gemstone—a Gnosis.

“So this is a Gnosis?”

She examined it briefly, then turned and strode into the darkness without sparing Venti another glance.

Within seconds, the frost and shadows dissipated completely, leaving the Traveler and Venti free.

Inside the cathedral, Jean remained oblivious to what had just transpired.
