The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [208]

The battle against the Fatui was over. Jia Changjiang, Lumine, Keqing, and the Millelith had driven the enemy back, leaving behind a field strewn with corpses.

Jia Changjiang stood amidst the carnage, gripping his monk’s staff in one hand and the lifeless body of a Fatui Debt Collector in the other. With a sharp motion, he hurled the body into the turbulent sea before him.

His frame, soaked in dark crimson blood, was battered by the rain. It was impossible to tell if the blood was his own or that of his enemies. The fabric tied around his waist—his robe and sash—was stained and heavy with rain and gore, giving him the grim appearance of a war god emerging from a battlefield.

“The interference has been eliminated. We can now go all out!”

Moon Carver’s voice rang out as he and the other Adepti refocused their efforts. Though the Guizhong Ballistae had sustained damage during the battle, they were still operational.

Adepti energy surged like a roaring river into the ballistae, and the golden power coalesced into an enormous energy sphere at the front of the Jade Chamber. With a deafening roar, it fired, the beam cutting through the rain and striking Osial in the sea, forcing the ancient god to recoil.

“Jax...” Lumine turned to her otherworldly companion as she watched the Adepti’s energy gather. “Do they really call this thing a ballista? It looks more like an orbital cannon to me...”

“Just roll with it,” Jia Changjiang replied with a smirk. “It’s like that sniper rifle I gave Amber—just cranked up in firepower and, well, less precision.”

The energy beam collided with Osial’s massive form, sending waves and spray flying into the air. The ancient god roared in pain, his five serpent heads thrashing and bellowing so loudly that even the clouds above seemed to tremble.

“It’s working! If we can keep this up, we might actually win!” Paimon cheered, punching the air.

The Adepti pressed the advantage, channeling more power into the ballistae to keep up their relentless assault.

However, despite their apparent progress, a sense of unease lingered. A fleeting advantage didn’t guarantee ultimate victory.

Ningguang, who had been concentrating on maintaining the Jade Chamber, suddenly noticed something strange about the ancient god.

Osial, still reeling from the attack, began gathering his own power. A horrifyingly immense energy sphere formed in his mouth before he released it skyward, sending a beam of light into the stormy clouds.

At first, the attack seemed to vanish into the sky without effect. But Jia Changjiang, standing on the platform, roared a warning.

“Don’t just stand there! Everyone, get back to the Jade Chamber platform! The ancient god’s counterattack is coming!”

His shout snapped the Millelith out of their daze. Realizing the danger, they abandoned their positions and scrambled toward safety.

The dark clouds above suddenly lit up, glowing like a starry sky, before countless streaks of blue light began descending toward the Jade Chamber.

The heavens rained death. Water meteors fell in a relentless cascade, their glowing trails illuminating the battlefield.

“Run! Run for your lives!” Jia Changjiang’s voice boomed, urging the Millelith to retreat. “Don’t look back—just keep moving until you’re safe!”

Even as he shouted, Jia Changjiang leapt onto one of the Guizhong Ballistae alongside the Adepti. Drawing the Hou Yi Bow from his inventory, he knelt and nocked several arrows. The bowstring hummed as he drew it taut, aiming at the oncoming barrage.

“Jia Changjiang! What are you doing?!” Lumine screamed, watching him refuse to retreat. She recognized the bow as the one he hadn’t even used against Childe, and her panic deepened.

Jia Changjiang didn’t turn around.

“Saving lives!”

With those two words, he loosed his first volley. The arrows streaked upward like radiant comets, intercepting the falling water meteors and detonating them mid-air.

But the deluge was unrelenting.

Jia Changjiang’s hands moved swiftly, firing arrow after arrow, each shot buying precious seconds. Beside him, the Adepti unleashed their powers, intercepting as many meteors as they could.

Still, the attacks came too fast and too densely.

Water meteors slammed into the Jade Chamber’s energy platform, causing violent tremors. The Millelith on the platform ran for their lives as cracks began to spread beneath their feet.

The platform was giving way.

Lumine, Keqing, and the remaining Millelith were still retreating when the structure collapsed beneath them.

Weightless, Lumine felt herself plummeting. The distance between her and the Jade Chamber was short, but it might as well have been a chasm. The remaining soldiers around her were similarly helpless, their injuries and exhaustion preventing them from escaping the pull of gravity.

“Traveler!” Paimon cried, diving toward Lumine with outstretched hands.

Lumine glanced back, her eyes locking onto Jia Changjiang. He was still standing on the collapsing Guizhong Ballista, firing arrows into the sky without hesitation.

Her mind raced, but there was no time to think.

In that instant, Lumine acted.

She grabbed Keqing, who was falling beside her, and hurled her upward with all her strength. Keqing’s shocked expression was the last thing Lumine saw before gravity claimed her fully.

Turning her attention upward, Lumine channeled every ounce of power she had.

Anemo and Geo energy swirled together, and the false Vision at her hip—once charged at the Anemo Archon’s statue—glowed brightly.

“Song of the Skies!”

A fierce wind erupted from Lumine’s center, slowing the descent of the Millelith and giving them a gentle push upward.

Then, with a deafening crash, countless Falling Stars materialized, forming a massive platform beneath the Jade Chamber. The Millelith and Keqing landed safely, the stars holding firm despite the immense strain.

Falling Star...!
