The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [217]

Jia Changjiang’s arrow pierced through Osial’s godly energy and struck its watery serpentine head, leaving a gaping hole in its form.

But… it wasn’t enough.

Although the attack caused visible pain, the Vortex God quickly began to heal, the damage vanishing as though it had never happened.

“What a tough bastard,” Jia Changjiang muttered, licking his lips. He nocked another arrow and continued running along Osial’s massive body, dodging its counterattacks while retaliating with a volley of arrows.

Osial, infuriated, began thrashing its colossal body, trying to swat away the persistent “insects” skittering along its form. Jia Changjiang darted faster, narrowly evading the chaotic movements of the ancient god.

For a moment, something felt off.

The golden-haired traveler who had been fighting alongside him moments ago had disappeared from Osial’s massive form.

Did she fall into the sea?

Turning to look, Jia Changjiang’s eyes widened in disbelief. Lumine had sprouted a pair of glowing wings and was now darting through the air, weaving past Osial’s snapping heads with a grace that rivaled the Adepti.

It seemed the power she’d borrowed from the Adepti and Taisui had helped her regain some of her power.

Meanwhile, even the Jade Chamber had kicked into high gear. Its Millelith defenders acted as both shield and spear, clashing repeatedly with Osial’s heads in midair.

Am I the only one who can’t fly?

Jia Changjiang stared up at the battlefield unfolding above him, suddenly deep in thought.

His musings were cut short when another surge of Osial’s watery godly energy shot toward him.

Firing a few quick arrows to disperse the incoming projectiles, Jia Changjiang conjured nine more arrows. Gripping six between his teeth, he nocked three onto his bowstring and aimed downward at Osial’s enormous body.

The arrows struck the Vortex God, their impact triggering a massive explosion. The shockwave launched Jia Changjiang into the air, where he instinctively deployed his Wind Glider.

Though Jia Changjiang couldn’t truly fly, he could at least glide on the battlefield’s relentless winds.

And here, in the midst of a raging storm, there was no shortage of those.

Hovering high above the battlefield, Jia Changjiang gazed down at the chaotic scene. Nocking another three arrows, he aimed and loosed them toward Osial.

The arrows struck true, carving new gashes into the serpent’s enormous body.

Thanks to the Adepti’s power, Jia Changjiang could wield the Sun-Slaying Bow’s strength more freely, inflicting heavy damage without immediately exhausting himself. But it still wasn’t enough.

The ancient bow, a weapon that had once shot down the nine suns of legend, could only wound the Vortex God. It couldn’t deliver a decisive blow.

Osial seemed to possess an unending reservoir of vitality. Despite the prolonged battle, its energy showed no signs of waning. If anything, its fury only made its attacks more ferocious.

Jia Changjiang loosed another volley of arrows, aiming to disable one of Osial’s heads. Just as his arrows struck, Lumine ascended to his side, visibly out of breath.

The golden-haired traveler had been pushing herself hard during the fight, and it was beginning to show.

“Jax, this isn’t working,” Lumine said, catching her breath.

“We’ve been chipping away at it for ages, and it’s still going strong. Didn’t we discuss earlier that Rex Lapis might still be alive? Where is he?!”

“It doesn’t matter,” Jia Changjiang replied. “What’s clear is that this isn’t sustainable. We need to figure out a way to land a single, decisive blow.”

“Are you saying we should do what Ningguang suggested? Blow up the Jade Chamber?” Lumine asked. “Do you really think Osial would just stand there and let us fly it over its head?”

“What kind of question is that? Of course not. The Vortex God isn’t blind,” Jia Changjiang retorted with a smirk.

“Then what’s the plan?” Lumine demanded, frustration seeping into her voice. “Where are we supposed to find something as sturdy as the Jade Chamber that can handle that much power?”

Jia Changjiang froze, an idea suddenly forming in his mind.

“Something to replace the Jade Chamber…” he murmured.

Lumine tilted her head in confusion, and Paimon, hovering behind her, looked equally perplexed.

Then Lumine’s eyes widened. “Wait. You’re not thinking of blowing me up, are you?!”

“Seriously?” Jia Changjiang rolled his eyes. “I’d never do that to my teammate.”

He quickly clarified, pointing toward her. “I’m talking about your Starfell. With the power you’ve borrowed, you should be able to create a construct sturdy enough for the job.”

“My Starfell… to blow up a god?” Lumine blinked, her mind racing. “Do you really think that’ll work? Would Osial even let us get close enough?”

“Who cares what Osial thinks?” Jia Changjiang grinned. “We’re not giving it a choice.”

After a brief explanation, Lumine nodded, clenching her fist in determination.

“Alright. I’ll handle the preparations with the Adepti. Don’t screw this up!” she called out before soaring off toward the Adepti.

“Don’t worry!” Jia Changjiang shouted back, gliding toward Osial. “I may have terrible luck, but my life’s tougher than you think!”

As the wind carried him forward, his grin widened.

“And besides… opportunities like this don’t come often. How many people get to go toe-to-toe with a god?”

Descending toward the Jade Chamber, Jia Changjiang watched as the Millelith’s golden giant continued to clash with Osial’s serpentine heads. Folding his Wind Glider, he let himself fall, aiming straight for the giant’s glowing form.

“This is it,” he murmured to himself. “Let’s see if we can really pull this off.”
