I, the Geo Archon Morax with 2.1 Billion Mora, Have Joined a Chat Group [90]

Guizhong's journal ended abruptly at this final entry.

“...”

The Traveler blinked, glancing at Paimon, who returned her gaze in equally pensive silence.

“Hmm...” After a few moments, Paimon crossed her arms, deep in thought for nearly a full minute.

The Traveler patiently watched her, unflinching, for just as long.

Finally, unable to bear the quiet scrutiny, Paimon broke the silence.

“Lumine, what do you think? Could this ‘God Zhongli’ mentioned in the journal be the same as our Zhongli?”

“The names are similar…” the Traveler began hesitantly.

“But it’s just too coincidental!” Paimon interjected, shaking her head. “It’s almost too perfect to be a coincidence. Sure, the characters in the name don’t match perfectly, but gods changing their names and appearances is practically a cliché. Plus, if we think of Zhongli as the Geo Archon…”

She trailed off meaningfully before resuming. “The clues are there! He knows so much—way more than any mortal could ever learn. His knowledge of history is like he lived it himself.”

The Traveler furrowed her brow. “That’s true, but…”

“And remember how he acted in front of the Adepti? When we gathered to honor Rex Lapis’ remains, he didn’t draw attention to himself or appear in the reflection of the [Sigil of Permission]. It was like he just… didn’t exist to them.”

“Still... it’s not definitive,” the Traveler replied, shaking her head slightly.

“That’s why we need an Adeptus to confirm it!” Paimon declared, her small form quivering with determination. “But if Zhongli is Rex Lapis, why would he fake his death? What does this have to do with the ‘Apostles,’ the ‘Outer Order,’ and that mysterious ‘Overseer’?”

“And why…” Paimon continued, her voice faltering slightly, “why would Rex Lapis orchestrate all of this? The chaos in Liyue Harbor, the mistrust among the Adepti and the Qixing, and the merchants exposing their darkest sides... What is he trying to achieve?”

“I have a bad feeling about this.”

The Traveler’s expression grew grim, and she opened her mouth to reply, but a voice from the doorway interrupted her thoughts.

“Traveler, have you found what you were looking for?”

The calm, familiar voice was steady as ever, but after reading the journal, it sent a chill down her spine.

Paimon noticed her unease and patted her shoulder gently, shaking her head as if to say keep it together.

The Traveler forced a smile and exhaled slowly before responding. “Yes, Zhongli. We found it.”

“Good,” Zhongli replied serenely. “Let us be off. Tomorrow is a most auspicious day according to the almanac—a perfect time to conduct the Rite of Parting.”

“Alright,” the Traveler said softly.

As she and Paimon exited the room, they found Zhongli waiting by the door, his posture as composed as always. His refined features and serene demeanor were unchanged, yet to the Traveler, something felt… off.

She couldn’t pinpoint it, but her mind raced with disjointed thoughts. It’s like realizing your loyal pet isn’t just an emergency ration but actually the God of Time, the God of Void, or some kind of cosmic overseer—your sworn enemy all along.

The feeling of disquiet lingered, a mix of awe and trepidation.

“Something troubling you?” Zhongli asked, his gaze briefly scanning her face as he took the journal from Paimon’s hands.

“No, nothing,” the Traveler replied, shaking her head.

Zhongli didn’t press further. Glancing at Paimon, who hovered nearby with a guarded posture, he tilted his head slightly in silent contemplation.

It seems the Traveler and Paimon have learned something unsettling from Guizhong’s relics. What could they have discovered to warrant such wariness?

Then again, the endgame is close at hand. Even if they know something, it will hardly matter.

In fact... perhaps their knowledge will make the final act even more poignant.

Unfazed, Zhongli nodded lightly. “Let us proceed. We’ve gathered everything we need. Tomorrow’s almanac marks a most fitting occasion.”

Without another word, he turned and began walking down the corridor.

The Traveler hesitated briefly before following, Paimon flitting close behind.

After several minutes of walking, they stopped before a doorway larger than any of the others they’d seen.

Zhongli’s body emitted a faint golden glow, which enveloped the doorframe. Moments later, the door creaked open, revealing two lines of graceful script etched into the surrounding dust.

“Do you now understand the meaning of the Dustlock and my feelings?”
“Please try to comprehend the hearts of others, Morax.”

Zhongli froze at the threshold, his brow furrowing as he read the words.

“Morax?” Paimon said, feigning ignorance as she floated closer. “So this is the God of Dust’s final message for the Geo Archon?”

“It appears so,” Zhongli replied, sighing softly. “Much like the inscription at the entrance, these words were meant for Rex Lapis. Or more precisely, for the former Geo Archon—Qingyun, the Cloudsplitter.”

“As I suspected, Guizhong harbored feelings for Qingyun that went beyond mere friendship,” he said matter-of-factly.

“Uh…” Paimon froze mid-air, her jaw dropping in disbelief.

She exchanged a bewildered glance with the Traveler, who also looked dumbfounded.

The Traveler’s mind raced as she pieced together the contents of Guizhong’s journal, the inscriptions, and Zhongli’s current demeanor.

If Zhongli really is Rex Lapis, then... he’s utterly clueless about emotions.

The carefree Barbatos who avoids responsibility.
The emotionally oblivious Morax.

The Archons of Teyvat are truly an unreliable lot, the Traveler thought, sighing inwardly as she reached her conclusion.
