The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [407]
Added 2025-03-22 07:16:01 +0000 UTCThis wasn’t a video game world.
The Statue of The Seven wasn’t just some HP recovery gimmick—it was a real, tangible monument you could actually touch.
Right now, though, this particular statue had been hung upside-down. Heavy chains coiled around it like serpents, binding it in place...
No one knew why the Abyss Mages had gone to the trouble of hanging it like that, or why they had replaced the jewel in the statue’s palm with some bizarre, ominous-looking object…
But still—
It was a Mondstadt statue. A statue of Barbatos.
Leaving it strung up like that? That had "Abyss scheme" written all over it.
What—just leave it there as a holiday gift for the Abyss Order? Not happening.
With that thought, Jax pulled out his weapon and shattered every last chain coiled around the statue. He caught it in his arms, then stashed it away inside his system inventory.
Sure, maybe he and Lumine couldn’t use it for much directly—but there was no way they were going to leave something so sacred behind for the Abyss to exploit.
Who in their right mind sees something this cursed-looking and just walks away from it?
That orb of Abyssal energy in the statue’s hand did look dangerous, but the moment Jax picked it up, the energy seemed to stabilize, melding seamlessly into the statue. Not a single wisp of it leaked out.
So, without hesitation, Jax packed up the upside-down Statue of The Seven and slung it over his shoulder as he and Lumine exited the ruins.
The Treasure Hoarder who’d accompanied them was absolutely stunned.
To casually take something that practically screamed “bad omen” and just walk off with it? This guy was insane. In a good way.
But just as they said goodbye to the Treasure Hoarder, another unexpected figure appeared.
Jax and Lumine encountered someone completely unforeseen.
“Dain? What are you doing here?”
Dainsleif looked over at the two of them and gave a small nod.
“This reunion came sooner than I expected.”
“Judging by your expressions... something strange must’ve happened.”
Even as he said this, Jax was already rummaging through his inventory—
—and then casually pulled out the statue.
In its hand, that strange Abyssal orb still pulsed faintly. Yet in Jax’s grip, it remained completely subdued.
“Yeah, I’d say it was pretty strange.”
Jax rested the statue of Barbatos on his shoulder, frowning.
“Can you believe those Abyss Mages stole Mondstadt’s statue of the Anemo Archon? Like hell I was gonna let that slide.”
“And then they strung it up upside-down, and shoved in this weird little ball thing. Flashy nonsense—if I wasn’t a step ahead, that orb could’ve seriously messed someone up.”
Dainsleif fell silent.
Jax and Lumine gave him the rundown of everything that had happened inside the ruins.
But even after hearing it all, Dainsleif still looked... at a loss.
He had his theories about the inverted statue—but what he hadn’t accounted for was someone being able to ignore the Abyssal corruption entirely and just walk off with it.
That wasn’t just strange.
Coming from someone like Jax—an outsider from another world—maybe that kind of “abnormal” was actually par for the course.
“We ran into an Abyss Herald,” Lumine added.
“The moment it saw us, it tried to flee. I only managed to wound its shoulder before it got away…”
“To injure an Abyss Herald on your first encounter—that’s no small feat.”
Dainsleif nodded, turning to Jax.
“You’d best put that statue away. I believe I’m starting to understand what the Abyss Order is planning.”
“Since the Herald’s already wounded, we should go after it.”
Dainsleif’s gaze sharpened.
“I have a good guess as to what it’s trying to find.”
“You always act like you know everything about the Abyss.”
Jax stashed the statue again, glancing over.
Honestly, carrying that statue felt surprisingly natural—kind of like wielding a giant hammer...
“Whatever they’re doing now seems to be of critical importance to the entire Order.”
Dainsleif’s voice was grim.
“Even under interrogation, they reveal next to nothing.”
“So what are they planning?”
Lumine tapped her chin thoughtfully.
Though what truly troubled her was something else—
That Abyss Herald…
Why did it act like it knew her?
And what was that cryptic line—“That one”?
That one... who?
What kind of riddle was it trying to play with her?
Absolutely infuriating.
With their decision made, the three of them set off in pursuit of the fleeing Abyss Herald.
Along the way, Jax and Lumine kept stumbling across more strange scenes—
Ruin Guards clashing with Abyss Mages, fighting tooth and nail.
They even witnessed a few battles firsthand.
…Which they promptly broke up.
More accurately: Jax dismantled the Ruin Guards piece by piece, and Lumine cracked through the Abyss Mages’ shields using a mix of Anemo and Geo.
“Weird,” Lumine muttered, raising an eyebrow.
“Why are the Abyss Mages and Ruin Guards fighting each other? Aren’t they supposed to be working together or something?”
She loaded the scavenged Ruin Guard parts into her pack, confusion written all over her face.
“Simple,”
Dainsleif answered, looking between the two of them.
“The Abyss Mages and the Ruin Guards... are branches of the same tree.”
He paused—seeming to steel himself—before continuing:
“They both originated from the same nation. A nation that was destroyed five hundred years ago— Khaenri’ah.”
“Huh?!”
Paimon gasped.
“Khaenri’ah?! But isn’t that the—”
She turned, ready to explain everything to Jax and Lumine—
—only to find both of them lost in thought.
Jax was digging through hazy memories of Genshin’s lore—he vaguely recalled reading something about Khaenri’ah once.
But Lumine—
Lumine was different.
She remembered Khaenri’ah.
Her face darkened with seriousness.
“I remember Khaenri’ah,” she said softly.
“I still have... memories from it.”
She remembered waking up—
Waking up to find herself in a land already lost.
A ruined nation named Khaenri’ah.
Back then, Aether had awakened her.
The two of them had planned to leave this world—
But then, a stranger appeared. A god.
That god took Aether away.
And then Lumine fell into slumber once more.
By the time she awoke again, five hundred years had passed.
Now that she thought about it—
That first moment of awakening...
That battlefield she saw...
That had been the fall of Khaenri’ah.
