The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [340]

Tears still streaked Lumine’s face when Jia Changjiang pulled out a towel. Paimon quickly took it and handed it to her.

“Traveler, wipe your face,” Paimon said gently.

“Paimon… Jia Changjiang…”

Lumine took the towel, dabbing at her tear-streaked face. Paimon raised her tiny hands in encouragement. “Traveler, we’re with you! You’re not alone!”

“There’s still so much of Teyvat to explore—we’ll travel together for as long as it takes! We’ll find your brother, I know we will!”

Jia Changjiang hesitated for a moment, then said, “Lumine, your brother…”

“I’ll help you find him. If you narrowly missed each other today, it means there’s a chance for you to meet again in the future.”

“Maybe not right away, but until then, I’m still your companion.”

He smiled. “I’ll be here for you.”

“Thank you, both of you.” Lumine lowered her head, wiping her face clean. When she looked up, her eyes burned with determination.

“I’ll find Aether! And then I’ll beat him up!”

Clenching her fists, she growled, “How dare he avoid me! He won’t get away with this!”

“Yeah!” Paimon puffed up her chest, pretending to be fierce. “Paimon will help you smack him too!”

“…It seems your spirit is restored.” Dainsleif observed her quietly. “I hope you find your kin at the end of your journey. For now, this is where we part ways.”

Having confirmed Lumine’s identity and current state, Dainsleif knew it was time to tend to his own affairs.

“You’re leaving already? So soon? What about the Abyss Herald?” Lumine asked, surprised.

“This is only a temporary farewell. We’ll meet again.” Dainsleif’s tone was calm. “And your journey isn’t solely about the Abyss.”

“I see…”

Though disappointed, Lumine nodded. “Take care.”

“Farewell.”

With no hesitation, Dainsleif turned and left, his departure as abrupt as always.

“He’s so weird…” Paimon remarked, watching his back. “He always leaves without saying much.”

“We’ll probably run into him again,” Lumine said, looking in his direction. “And it’s not like we’re done dealing with Abyss stuff.”

“Still… Jax, it’s unusual that you didn’t challenge him to a fight. That’s not like you!”

Lumine glanced at him curiously.

“Fight him?” Jia Changjiang scratched his chin. “Maybe it’s because he acts like he knows everything—it caught me off guard, so I forgot.”

“By the way, Lumine, I’ve got your crying face committed to memory. I’ll have to tell Venti and Zhongli about it—it’ll be hilarious.” He grinned mischievously.

“?!!”

Lumine’s face turned bright red. “If you dare tell anyone, I’ll put Lisa’s weird potions in your food every day!”

“Hold on! Why am I the only one who cried? That’s not fair!” Lumine shouted, baring her teeth as she charged at Jia Changjiang. “I’ll make you cry too! Then we’ll be even!”

“Catch me if you can! My wind glider skills are top-notch!” Jia Changjiang unfurled his glider and leapt off the cliff, soaring away.

“My glider license was certified by Amber! Don’t run away! Paimon, help me catch him!” Lumine followed suit, glider unfurled.

“Traveler, Paimon can’t fly as fast as a wind glider!”

After returning to Mondstadt, Jia Changjiang and Lumine headed straight to the Angel’s Share tavern.

As they stepped in, they spotted Diluc tending the bar and Kaeya chatting casually over a drink.

“Well, if it isn’t Jax and the Traveler!” Kaeya raised his glass in greeting. “Back in Mondstadt, are we? Care for a drink?”

“Sure.” Jia Changjiang sat at the bar. “Two bottles of anything, Master Diluc.”

“…It’s Diluc.” Diluc sighed but pulled out two bottles and slid them over without protest.

Jia Changjiang popped the cork off one with his teeth and took a hearty swig. “You knew who I was talking to, didn’t you?”

“…Pour me one too!” Lumine slapped the bar. “No juice or non-alcoholic cider this time! I want real wine!”

Diluc hesitated, only relenting when Jia Changjiang gave him a subtle nod. He handed her a bottle with the lowest alcohol content he had.

After drinking it like juice, Lumine slumped over, her head buried in her arms.

“What’s with her?” Kaeya asked in a low voice, glancing at Lumine’s unusual behavior.

Paimon started to explain but was silenced by Jia Changjiang’s finger.

“She’s just having a rough day. Let her be for tonight.”

After finishing his drinks, Jia Changjiang gestured to Diluc. “Two glasses of juice for me, and one for Paimon. Let’s not overdo it tonight.”

“Looks like you’ve been through a lot today.” Kaeya smirked. “I never thought I’d see Lumine like this.”

Diluc set the juice on the bar. “Drowning sorrow in alcohol is never the answer.”

“Drinking isn’t about sorrow—it’s about adjusting your mood,” Jia Changjiang said, sipping his juice. “Anyway, let her rest tonight.”

Kaeya chuckled. “You’re surprisingly considerate for someone who loves fighting.”

“I’ve always been like this.” Jia Changjiang glanced at him. “By the way, now that I’m back in Mondstadt, how about a sparring match tomorrow?”

“No thanks.” Kaeya raised his hands in mock surrender. “I’d rather use my brains than my sword.”

As the night went on and the tavern approached closing time, the group prepared to leave.

Lumine had fallen asleep after finishing her drink, so Jia Changjiang hoisted her onto his back.

“Mr. Jax, do you think the Traveler will be okay?” Paimon asked, still a bit worried.

“She’ll be fine.” Jia Changjiang’s tone was firm. “Lumine isn’t someone who gives up so easily.”

He smiled slightly as he looked at the sleeping Lumine.

“The journey is far from over.”
