The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [360]

Looking at the pair of "lanterns" he had just finished crafting—lanterns that glowed faintly but weighed enough to crush three Hilichurls—Jia Changjiang completely gave up on the idea of making Xiaodeng Lanterns.

Unlike regular lanterns that floated effortlessly into the sky, his creations seemed better suited for smashing things into the ground. Aside from glowing faintly and being lantern-shaped, they had absolutely no resemblance to their intended purpose.

"Ahahahahaha! Jax Greenhead, your lanterns really match your personality!" Lumine laughed mercilessly. "How did you even manage to turn such lightweight materials into this?"

"They’re so heavy…" Paimon tried to lift one of the hammer-lanterns but quickly gave up, unable to budge it.

"Yeah, yeah. You can make lanterns, and I can turn lanterns into double war hammers—that’s a skill too," Jia Changjiang grumbled, hoisting one in each hand to use as impromptu light sources.

He sighed. Well, at least these might be useful for scaring off Treasure Hoarders. He imagined walking down a dark road, holding what appeared to be lanterns, only for attackers to realize they were about to get clobbered by a pair of massive hammers.

"AHAHAHAHA!" Lumine clutched her stomach, nearly doubled over from laughter. "I thought you could do anything, but I guess even you have your limits!"

"Of course! If I could do everything, I wouldn’t still be here—I’d have ascended to Celestia by now." Jia Changjiang shot her a glare.

"The materials for making lanterns are running low, Jax Greenskin. Help me carry some more," Lumine said, standing tall. "Today, I’m going to make enough lanterns for the entire harbor!"

"You’re awfully enthusiastic… Fine, I’ll help." Jia Changjiang stowed his hammer-lanterns and followed her toward the docks to fetch more materials.

As they approached the supply area, they noticed a suspicious figure lurking nearby.

"That person… could they be a thief?" Lumine whispered, narrowing her eyes.

"Maybe they’re just curious about the preparations," Paimon offered hesitantly.

"Better to catch them first and ask questions later!" Lumine declared. "What if they’re here to sabotage the Lantern Rite? Think of all the Mora I’d lose if that happened!"

Jia Changjiang sighed but strode toward the figure without hesitation.

The person didn’t seem to notice their approach, too absorbed in whatever they were inspecting.

"What are you doing over there?" Lumine called out.

Startled, the figure flinched and barked back without turning around, "What’s it to you? Can’t you see I’m busy? Get lost, or I’ll—"

The words died in his throat as he turned to find himself face-to-chest with Jia Changjiang.

"Hm?" Jia Changjiang tilted his head, looking down at the man. "You’ll what?"

With a loud crack, he rolled his shoulders and neck, his imposing frame radiating intimidation.

The man’s confidence crumbled instantly. Stumbling backward, he nearly fell in his haste to retreat.

Sometimes, overwhelming strength didn’t just win fights—it made them unnecessary.

"Pfft!" Paimon floated behind Jia Changjiang, sticking out her tongue at the would-be tough guy.

"I-I wasn’t doing anything!" the man stammered, retreating further. "I wasn’t… doing anything!"

Before they could press further, the man turned and fled into the night.

"Definitely up to no good," Lumine muttered, watching him disappear.

"If Mr. Jax weren’t here, he probably would’ve started an argument," Paimon added.

"Exactly! I must look so unthreatening. But Jax Greenskin? Just one look at him, and you’d think he could crush you with a single punch," Lumine sighed dramatically.

"I notice you’re calling me Greenhead more often these days," Jia Changjiang grumbled, knocking her lightly on the head. "But yeah, that guy seemed suspicious. You should report it to the organizers while I check things out here."

"Got it!" Lumine said brightly. "If I see him again, I’ll play the weakling and then—bam! I’ll clobber him!"

She already seemed excited by the idea of her plan.

After carrying a couple of boxes of materials for her, Jia Changjiang returned to the spot where the man had been lurking. From this vantage point, the massive floating stone for this year’s Mingxiao Lantern was perfectly visible.

"Last time I went up to the Jade Chamber, it was on one of Beidou’s ships carrying floating stones," he murmured. "This year’s stone is supposed to be the largest one yet… and it really is impressive."

He paused, tapping his chin thoughtfully.

"If they’re making the lantern in Skybracer’s likeness, maybe I can use that to lure Xiao to the festival…"

Xiao might be silent and aloof, with eyes sharp as blades, but Jia Changjiang suspected the Conqueror of Demons was hiding behind his mask—both literally and figuratively.

Beneath the Yaksha mask was just a lonely young man, stubbornly rejecting change and locking himself away in isolation.

What a troublesome guy.

Jia Changjiang watched as a lantern floated skyward, its light swaying gently in the wind.

He thought of Jean’s workaholism, Sucrose’s shyness, and now Xiao’s solitude.

Are all Vision bearers chosen by Anemo gods this complicated?

He turned his gaze toward Mondstadt and sighed.

If Visions truly were bestowed by divine will, Jia Changjiang could only wonder what kind of criteria Barbatos had for choosing his bearers.
