The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [382]

After leaving the boundary, Old Meng and Wolfie had to say their goodbyes.

And this time, they finally voiced their childhood dreams out loud.

To spend the Lantern Rite together with their families…

A simple wish, yet one that life and death had kept apart.

Now, Wolfie was once again parting ways with Old Meng.

Seeing Old Meng in a somber mood, Hu Tao, in an unusual act of kindness, granted him a day off.

Of course, still without pay!

"Hu Tao, this makes us friends now, right?" Lumine gave Hu Tao a thumbs-up. "Can I drop by Wangsheng Funeral Parlor to visit you sometime?"

She hadn’t found Aether yet… but maybe not finding him there was a good thing.

"Heh, you're the first person to ask to visit me at Wangsheng." Hu Tao chuckled. "Sure, but… best to come during the day."

She grinned. "Liyue’s nights aren’t exactly peaceful, you know?"

"I’ve fought gods. You think I’d be scared of a little nighttime unrest?" Lumine countered.

With that, their time with Hu Tao had come to a temporary close.

Jia Changjiang and Lumine now had a newfound understanding of Wangsheng Funeral Parlor—the place where Zhongli had taken up his position.

And perhaps, they could somewhat grasp why Zhongli, after relinquishing his title as the Geo Archon, chose to work there as a consultant…

It couldn’t possibly be because he was planning his own funeral, right?

...

With Hu Tao’s matters settled, Jia Changjiang and Lumine found themselves at leisure once again.

Jia Changjiang focused on recovering from his injuries, while Lumine continued shuttling between Liyue and Mondstadt, playing the role of a very expensive, on-demand Noelle.

"Speaking of which, how are Noelle, Amber, and Razor doing lately?" Jia Changjiang asked as his wounds were nearly healed.

"Not sure," Lumine admitted, a little curious herself. "Lately, commissions in Mondstadt have been scarce… Feels like there's less profit to be made."

"Something going on in Mondstadt?" she wondered aloud.

"Beats me… Maybe we should go check it out!" Paimon suggested. "And we can visit Razor, Klee, and Noelle while we’re at it!"

"Mondstadt, huh…"

Jia Changjiang wiped the corner of his mouth.

He hadn’t had a good drink in a long while due to his injury…

"Let’s go!"

No hesitation.

"We’re leaving now!"

...

Taking the ley line transport, they arrived just outside Mondstadt.

Immediately, Jia Changjiang and Lumine sensed something different about the city.

There was an air of festivity—excitement in the air. From Windrise, people were gliding down with wind gliders, and colorful balloons drifted through the sky.

"Whoa!" Paimon gasped. "It looks so lively! Is there some kind of event going on?"

"Why don’t we ask and find out?"

Lumine walked straight into Mondstadt.

And the first thing she did?

Head straight to Good Hunter and order two large plates of Mondstadt-style grilled steak.

Liyue’s cuisine was varied and full of rich flavors, but sometimes, nothing beat the simple satisfaction of biting into a hearty, meaty dish.

"Miss Sara, why are there so many flowers and balloons around the city?" Paimon asked curiously. "It looks really pretty!"

"Hm? You don’t know?" Sara looked at them, a little surprised. "It’s the Windblume Festival. That’s probably why you’ve had fewer commissions lately."

"No commissions?" Lumine froze. "Wait—what exactly is the Windblume Festival?!"

She recalled her experience with the Lantern Rite.

Sure, it was a fun time, but it had also been exhausting.

From weaving Xiao Lanterns to hanging them up, fetching lost items, and even making a trip to Qingce Village to visit the elderly…

Yet now, Mondstadt was having its own festival, and no one was asking her for help?

"The Windblume Festival isn’t the kind of event where we assign commissions to others," Sara explained, setting down the grilled steaks in front of Lumine.

"Wait… No commissions?" Paimon looked worried. "Does that mean… no payment? And if there's no payment, does that mean we won’t have money for food?!"

"So what is the Windblume Festival, exactly?" Jia Changjiang asked, rubbing his chin. "And why aren’t we allowed to help with anything?"

He had been planning to do a few small jobs, save up some rewards, and use them for wishes before heading to Inazuma.

"The Windblume Festival is Mondstadt’s celebration of freedom and love," Sara explained before turning to greet another customer. "If you’re curious, you should visit Flora at the flower shop. The festival’s Windblume is closely tied to her business."

With that, she hurried off to serve more customers.

Jia Changjiang and Lumine exchanged glances.

"Windblume Festival… The festival of freedom and love?" Jia Changjiang mused. "Windblume?"

"Freedom and love?" Lumine mumbled around a mouthful of steak. "Mondstadt has a festival like that?"

She glanced at Jia Changjiang.

A battle maniac like him… Love? Yeah, right.

If a female knight appeared before them right now, Lumine would bet anything that Jia Changjiang’s attention would be on the knight—not the woman.

Sure, he wasn’t completely blind to beauty, but he never seemed to have the desire to talk about it.

"Let’s finish eating and go ask Flora," Jia Changjiang said, oblivious to Lumine’s thoughts.

He was genuinely curious about the Windblume Festival.

They had just finished the Lantern Rite, and now Mondstadt had launched straight into another festival…

...

After stuffing themselves at Good Hunter, Jia Changjiang and Lumine arrived at Flora’s flower shop.

The place was packed.

Flora’s business was clearly booming, with a steady stream of customers coming and going.

They had to wait quite a while before finally getting a chance to talk to her.

"You want to know about the Windblume Festival?"

Flora smiled brightly. "It’s a long-standing celebration in Mondstadt!"

"Since it symbolizes freedom and love, every year during this festival, people offer Windblumes to Lord Barbatos as a sign of reverence and affection. It’s also tradition to gift flowers to loved ones or those who are important to you!"

She beamed. "It’s always a busy time for me, but I don’t mind at all—it makes me happy!"

"Offering Windblumes to Lord Barbatos?" Jia Changjiang and Lumine immediately thought of a certain green, somewhat unreliable bard.

"And Windblume… What kind of flower is that?" Jia Changjiang asked, curious.

"Is it Lord Barbatos’ favorite?"

[Author’s Note]
The upcoming Windblume Festival arc is getting a rewrite.

I feel like I didn’t do a great job with the Lantern Rite segment.

So, this time, I’m going all out for the Windblume Festival.

Following the standard event storyline? Boring.

Greenie and the little rascal traveler? They should be the ones leading the festival, not following it! The volume title should already tell you—I’m making significant changes.

Also, I’ve pretty much finalized my plans for the Inazuma arc.

If the upcoming official story goes as I predict, I guarantee my version will be just as intense as the Archon War arc.

If it doesn’t, well… No worries. I’ve got backup plans.

It’s just a matter of whether I outplay Mihoyo, or Mihoyo outplays me.

Inazuma, huh… It’d be a real shame if Raiden Shogun didn’t get to witness true mortal eternity.

Also, with the new PV, it's practically confirmed—La Signora was the Crimson Witch of Flame in Mondstadt’s history.

Knew it. This is why I had her fight cut short with a deus ex machina just in case.

Her story’s actually pretty tragic. If anyone’s interested, I can put together a proper breakdown.

Anyway, enough rambling.

T/N: ermmm what volume title ALSO LOVE? OMG ARE WE GETTING MORE VEX MOMENTS??? AAAAAAAA
