The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [388]

For the next ten or so minutes, Jia Changjiang transformed into a full-fledged salesman, enthusiastically pitching the wonders of inset gems—mystical tools from another world—to Diluc.

Versatile and effective, these gems had applications in daily life, combat, adventuring, and even covert operations.

Jia Changjiang even offered Diluc a few customized options:

The [Stealth Gem], which made it easier to shake off pursuers when retreating.
The [Flame Gem], which enhanced fire-elemental abilities.
The [Scent Tracker Gem], which improved the ability to locate enemies by smell.
The [Quick-Draw Gem], which reduced charge time, allowing for faster attacks.
The [Fireproof Gem], which granted fire resistance, and the Heatproof Gem, which protected against extreme temperatures—perfect for preventing unfortunate accidents when forgetting to dispel weapon enchantments… and avoiding damage to one's clothing.

"…"

Diluc watched Jia Changjiang’s sales pitch with a blank expression.

These two—Jia Changjiang and Lumine—always managed to bring some sort of chaos into his life.

But despite that…

Jia Changjiang’s tools were undeniably useful.

If these gems truly worked as described, then in some ways, they might rival even the rarest artifacts.

In terms of functionality, they could even surpass them.

"Fine."

Diluc finally relented. "I’ll support your plan. But as for the details—"

"You’ll have to handle them yourselves."

"A grand banquet doesn’t need expensive alcohol!" Jia Changjiang grinned. "As long as the cheapest beer is free-flowing, that’s all we need!"

"The most important thing is that people enjoy themselves."

"As for everything else… we’ll have to trouble you, Master Diluc."

Jia Changjiang flashed a cheeky smile.

"Handle it yourself."

Diluc’s voice was firm. "However this banquet turns out—it’s up to you."

"Don’t worry! We’re heading to the Knights of Favonius next."

Jia Changjiang assured him, "And we have Noelle helping us. With over ten days left, we have plenty of time…"

In the end, Jia Changjiang and Diluc struck a deal—Diluc would provide free beer for the event, along with some Mora funding, in exchange for a set of inset gems and the reputation boost that came with sponsoring the festival’s bonfire banquet.

With that settled, Jia Changjiang, Lumine, and Noelle left to seek out Kaeya.

On the way back to the plaza, Noelle hesitated before asking, "Mr. Jax, Traveler… what exactly do you need me to do?"

After the meeting with Diluc, Noelle felt a little nervous. She wasn’t sure how she could help.

"Well…"

Jia Changjiang rubbed his chin, looking a bit embarrassed. "Actually, we were hoping you could help us gather supplies for the banquet’s final preparations."

"And… well, help with cooking."

"…Huh?" Noelle blinked.

"Basically, we’re broke and can’t afford to host a full-scale banquet!" Lumine declared, hands on her hips, practically spelling out the word poverty on her forehead.

"I can cook better than most professional chefs, but there’s no way I can handle everything alone!"

Lumine continued, "And gathering ingredients for a bonfire feast isn’t something I can manage by myself either."

"You’re an amazing cook, Noelle, so we were hoping you could help with the preparations."

"But don’t worry," Lumine quickly reassured her. "We won’t let you overwork yourself!"

"It’d be terrible if you ended up exhausted because of this…"

Hearing Lumine’s words, Noelle actually looked rather happy. "Is that so? I’ll do my best!"

"Actually, there’s one more thing."

Jia Changjiang hesitated before speaking. "After thinking it over, I realized… there’s only one person who can help me with this."

"Hm? What is it?" Noelle tilted her head. "Something only I can do?"

"That’s right."

Jia Changjiang explained, "The most important part of a bonfire banquet is, of course, the bonfire."

"So… we need a big one. And for that, we’ll need plenty of firewood. We can start gathering it right away."

He eyed the massive battle-axe still strapped to Noelle’s back.

Chopping trees, hauling firewood—both were heavy labor

And in all of Mondstadt, there weren’t many people who could keep up with Jia Changjiang in that kind of work.

But Noelle?

She was definitely one of them.

"So once we’re done at the Knights of Favonius," Jia Changjiang continued, "we’ll head out to chop some wood. And while we’re at it… we can gather ingredients for the feast."

"Boreal Forest should be a good spot—plenty of trees, and plenty of wildlife."

"I understand, Mr. Jax."

Noelle nodded firmly. "I’ll make sure to prepare for gathering firewood."

"Then we’re counting on you, Noelle."

After parting ways with Noelle for the time being, Jia Changjiang and Lumine headed back to the plaza.

By the time they returned, Venti’s poetry lesson was wrapping up.

"Traveler! Mr. Jax!"

Paimon happily waved at them.

"Yo, Jax, Lumine."

Venti greeted them with a smile. "Class is over! Now… once Kaeya finishes his assignment, we can go find him in Mondstadt."

"Speaking of which—" Venti’s eyes curved into playful crescents. "How are your love poems coming along?"

"…Haven’t written one yet." Lumine fell into deep thought.

If she really sat down to write a love poem… she’d have way too much material.

It wasn’t going to be easy.

"There’s still plenty of time left for the Windblume Festival, isn’t there?"

Jia Changjiang sighed, rubbing his temples. "I will write a love poem. Eventually. At some point."

"Ahaha~ Looks like getting those assignments done is going to be tough."

Venti chuckled. "Well, no rush… But for now, shall we go check on Kaeya’s progress?"

"Yes!" Lumine perked up. "We need to visit the Knights of Favonius anyway! And while we’re there, we can take a look at how Kaeya’s poem turned out."

"Hm? You’re heading to the Knights for something else too?"

Venti looked curious.

"We need to request a venue for the banquet." Jia Changjiang gestured toward the plaza. "Something big enough… Like, say, this entire square?"

"A banquet? Now that sounds interesting."

Venti’s eyes gleamed. "Should I prepare a song for the occasion?"

"Absolutely!"

Jia Changjiang grinned. "A proper feast needs everything—good drinks, lively dancing, and, of course, soul-stirring music!"

"So when the time comes… Venti, you’d better bring your A-game."

Jia Changjiang smirked. "There’ll be plenty of wine."
