You Will Regret This Ichinose! [152]

Inside the room.

Just as Kushida Kikyo was lost in the fantasy of Horikita Suzune’s humiliating defeat, Uesugi’s voice rudely interrupted her moment.

"Wake up, Miss Accomplice. I have to remind you—according to your plan, she’s supposed to drop out and return home this semester. With her current level of fondness for me, you probably won’t get to see that expression."

Kushida Kikyo’s eyes flickered with clarity as she processed his words. She glanced down at Uesugi beneath her feet and complained,

"Can’t you just hurry up and take her down already?"

"Can’t you just put in some effort and befriend her?"

"Tch… useless man!"

What a vicious curse. Miss Accomplice, have you awakened some kind of special kink?

For a moment, Kushida Kikyo’s expression flickered uncertainly. Finally, she clenched her teeth.

"Fine, then let’s change the conditions—she doesn’t have to drop out."

As she spoke, a thought seemed to cross her mind, causing her towel-wrapped body to tremble. A sinister chuckle slipped from her lips.

"This way, she’ll have to live in the shadow of me stealing her man for the next three years. Three whole years of making Horikita Suzune a loser—how absolutely wonderful."

Nice!

Miss Horikita, you should be grateful. For your sake, I sacrificed my own body to this wicked woman tonight.

"Wait, no!"

Kushida Kikyo suddenly snapped back to reality. "That would just be benefiting you, wouldn't it?"

With that realization, her freshly showered, soft foot stomped onto Uesugi’s face again. He vaguely felt a hint of dampness.

"Speak! Was this your plan all along?"

"How could it be? I’ve lied so many times, and yet I’ve never once fooled you, Miss Accomplice."

"Really?"

Kushida Kikyo eyed him suspiciously.

Uesugi maintained an expression of complete calm. "Of course."

Game Over!

One match finished, Uesugi removed his headphones and glanced at the time on his computer—it was already past ten.

At this hour, Kushida Kikyo usually would have left by now.

But tonight, she lay sprawled on his bed, swinging her bare legs without a care in the world, chatting away on her phone.

Uesugi raised a brow and reminded her, "Miss Accomplice, it’s already past ten. You should probably leave."

Kushida Kikyo didn’t even look up.

"Nope. I’m sleeping here tonight."

Rolling onto her side, she continued playing on her phone.

"Heh, suit yourself. I’m the one getting the better deal anyway."

...

Uesugi’s bloodshot eyes snapped open as he turned to look at the girl sleeping beside him.

He… regretted it. He definitely should have kicked her out earlier.

"Horikita… Suzune… drop dead already…"

In her sleep, Kushida Kikyo muttered darkly before swinging her foot toward Uesugi—only for him to catch it just in time.

Who would’ve thought that the seemingly sweet little angel would be like this when asleep?

Wait…

Is she only like this around me?

Back on the deserted island, she must have slept alongside others, yet there had never been an incident like this.

"Horikita…"

Again?!

As she went for another sleep-kick, Uesugi skillfully dodged.

Staring at the girl before him, who muttered Horikita Suzune’s name even in her sleep, he was utterly exasperated.

Just how obsessed with her are you?

And—does she think I’m a school fence or something?

...

Kushida Kikyo woke up feeling completely refreshed.

The first thing she saw was Uesugi, wrapped in a blanket, lying on the floor.

"Huh? Why are you sleeping down there?"

"The floor is cooler."

The special exam wasn’t something that particularly concerned Shiina Hiyori.

However, it did bring her a slight inconvenience.

Not the exam itself, but rather, the fact that because of it, the library was now completely packed.

While she could usually manage to find a seat, it still bothered her when her usual spot was taken. And since studying often required discussion, the noise in the library made it difficult to quietly read.

Thinking about this, Shiina Hiyori’s cheeks puffed out slightly in frustration.

Holding her carefully selected book, she wandered through the crowded library, surrounded by murmuring voices.

She hesitated, wondering if she should just leave.

Then, suddenly, her eyes lit up as she spotted something.

Near the window, a boy was slumped over a desk, fast asleep. A book of just the right size rested over his face, and strangely enough, despite the open seats around him, no one had taken them.

Tilting her head curiously, Shiina Hiyori studied the sleeping boy for a moment before making her decision.

She quietly pulled out a chair and sat down.

The weather had already begun to cool, settling into that perfect in-between temperature. The library’s air conditioning was off, and a gentle breeze flowed through the half-open window by the boy’s side.

A refreshing chill swept across Shiina Hiyori’s face, instantly soothing her restless mood.

Thirty minutes later.

Smack!

The crisp sound jolted Shiina Hiyori from the world of her book.

"Haaah~"

A long yawn accompanied Uesugi as he sat up, revealing a cute, silver-haired, violet-eyed girl in front of him.

A flicker of surprise crossed his eyes before he smirked.

"Well, well, if it isn’t Miss Shiina."

"Good afternoon, Uesugi-kun."

Shiina Hiyori greeted him with a smile before tilting her head in mild confusion.

"Why are you here? Are you having a study session? I didn’t think you were the type to enjoy the library."

Uesugi shrugged.

"Pretty much what you guessed—I’m here for a study group."

With the entire class squeezed into the regular and activity rooms, things had gotten too noisy. In the end, the boys had decided to be gentlemen and left the spaces for the girls to use.

That meant the guys had to settle for the library, led by Kanzaki and Hamaguchi.

As for Uesugi?

He was dragged here solely to keep troublemakers in check. Just by sitting there, he made sure no one dared to stir up chaos.

"But… you don’t seem too happy with the atmosphere, Miss Shiina."

"You noticed?"

Shiina Hiyori hugged her book and glanced around at the students, her expression carrying a hint of helplessness.

"But there’s nothing to be done. Everyone’s working hard for the class, after all."

"If that’s the case, why don’t you just read in your room? It’d be much quieter there."

Uesugi asked curiously.

"Hmm… I guess it’s the atmosphere? It just doesn’t feel the same reading alone in my room."

"I see…"

Uesugi rubbed his chin thoughtfully.

Then, as if struck by a sudden realization, his eyes lit up.

"Miss Shiina, I know a place that meets all your needs. Want to check it out?"
