Pokémon: My Titles Know No Limits! [103]

Hearing August’s words, Blue frowned in confusion. “Then what’s our plan?”

Since August already suspected that something was off with Saffron Gym but didn’t intend to bring reinforcements, did that mean the two of them were just going to walk up and knock on the door?

As it turned out, that was exactly what August had in mind.

“We’ll just go straight there,” he said casually.

He had a legitimate reason for visiting this time.

Sure, when it came to Giovanni, he would tread carefully, but against Sabrina? He planned to go in swinging.

Yes, Sabrina was a powerful psychic prodigy, but his Gardevoir was no slouch either.

In terms of pure psychic ability, his Mega-Evolved Gardevoir combined with the [Mind Plate] could definitely surpass Sabrina!

However, before heading to Saffron Gym, there was something else he needed to take care of.

“Blue, didn’t you mention before that having our headquarters in Indigo Plateau was too inconvenient? I gave it some thought and agreed, so I asked Lance to set up a safe house for our Kanto branch here in Saffron City,” August explained.

Blue blinked in surprise. She had only made that comment in passing—she hadn’t expected August to actually act on it.

But soon, curiosity took over.

What kind of safe house could it be…?

---

After undergoing a complex fingerprint and retinal scan, August entered the newly acquired estate that Lance had secured for him.

Blue, standing beside him, stared in disbelief.

“This… is the safe house you were talking about?”

Saffron City, being Kanto’s economic hub, had sky-high real estate prices.

When August mentioned setting up a safe house, Blue had assumed he meant something small—a modest house at most.

But now, looking at the estate in front of her…

She couldn’t help but marvel. Since when was our Kanto branch this rich?!

She had even worried before about whether they were overspending on department expenses.

But now? Turns out she had been thinking too small.

August, seeing Blue’s reaction, smirked in satisfaction. But he still felt the need to clarify, “Normally, we wouldn’t have been able to get a place this large.”

“But… since Kanto’s branch was practically on the verge of collapse, the International Police Headquarters approved a reconstruction budget. I asked Lance to use part of that funding to set up this safe house.”

“Come take a look. Since Indigo Plateau is crawling with Rocket spies, this place will serve as our office for the foreseeable future.”

“For now, since we can’t fully trust anyone within the League, all operations here will be handled by Pokémon.”

As August finished speaking, Pokémon inside the estate, having received the signal, came out to greet them.

The ones leading the way were two Indeedee—one male and one female.

Because joining the International Police meant she might have to take missions in other regions, Blue had been studying Pokémon from outside of Kanto.

She carefully observed the two Pokémon before finally recognizing them.

“These are from Galar, right?”

August nodded. “That’s right. I specifically requested them from Headquarters. Don’t underestimate them—both of them are Gym Leader-level and officially registered as International Police agents.”

“They’re the ones managing this estate.”

Blue was taken aback. Pokémon could be International Police officers?

Meanwhile, the two Indeedee immediately recognized August as they approached.

The male Indeedee gave him a polite bow, while the female Indeedee, under Blue’s curious gaze, fidgeted nervously with her hands.

August chuckled and greeted them before turning to Blue. “Come on, let’s check out the place.”

Though August referred to it as a “temporary office,” the estate wasn’t particularly large, about the same size as Cerulean Gym.

However, it was fully equipped with all necessary facilities:

Along with relocating some equipment from Indigo Plateau, August had used his connections with Steven Stone to acquire a Devon Corp security system to ensure the estate’s safety.

As they toured the estate, August asked, “What do you think?”

“It’s even more complete than I expected,” Blue admitted. But then, a question popped into her mind. “But… is all this really necessary when it’s just the two of us?”

“We have Bill as well. Plus, I’ve already started recruiting more people,” August replied.

He had been considering recruitment for a while.

Bill and Professor Cerise were just the first step—a way to test the waters.

He couldn’t just sit around and wait for his former colleagues to return. If they never came back, was Kanto’s branch supposed to stay an empty shell forever?

He already had a few candidates in mind.

Since August had a plan, Blue didn’t press further.

Instead, she accepted a snack from the Indeedee, taking a bite before her face lit up with delight. “This is really good! Did you make it?”

“Indeed~!”

The female Indeedee nodded enthusiastically, pleased by the praise, and gestured that there was plenty more.

Meanwhile, the male Indeedee was busy directing a Lawn Mower Rotom shaped like a Steenee to trim the hedges.

Just as August released his own Pokémon, preparing to enjoy some of the Indeedee’s desserts, his communicator suddenly rang.

At first, he assumed it was Misty calling, but when he checked the screen, Lance’s name popped up instead.

“Lance? What’s up?”

Still feeling pleased with his new office, August’s mood was light.

However, Lance’s voice was unusually serious.

“August, where are you right now?”

“I just arrived at the safe house in Saffron. Why?”

Hearing that August was in Saffron City, Lance audibly sighed in relief before quickly saying, “Perfect. Get to Silph Co. headquarters right now. I’ll explain on the way!”

This was the first time August had ever heard Lance speak in such an urgent tone.

Hearing “Silph Co.” immediately set off alarms in August’s mind.

Could it be…? Is Team Rocket finally making a move on Silph Co.?
