Pokémon: My Titles Know No Limits! [105]
Added 2025-02-27 07:19:08 +0000 UTC"No matter what, I won’t hand over that data to you," President Silph said, his voice firm despite the situation.
He didn’t know exactly why Team Rocket was after that information, but given how Silph Co. had helped them smuggle various research equipment over the years, he had a pretty good guess.
Sird frowned. "How troublesome... Do I have to ask her for help?"
When it came to controlling people, no one in Team Rocket was better than Sabrina.
However, unlike her openly known position within Team Rocket, she was still a Gym Leader, maintaining her cover.
Not to mention, the Three Beasts and the Three Executives had always had a strained relationship...
Just as Sird was debating whether or not to contact Sabrina, the communicator at her waist suddenly crackled to life.
"Sird-sama, we have intruders!"
---
Hearing the blaring alarms, Blue grew anxious. "Are we seriously doing this?"
In her mind, they should have snuck into Silph Co. quietly, knocked out a few guards, and stealthily found the missing investigation team.
But instead… they had just walked in through the front door and triggered the alarm.
"This is the fastest and most efficient way," August said matter-of-factly.
Originally, he had considered taking a more covert approach.
But after requesting Silph Co.’s building schematics from Lance and seeing just how many surveillance cameras were inside, he realized that unless he had some kind of invisibility ability, sneaking in was nearly impossible.
So after weighing his options, he chose a less conventional "infiltration" method.
Besides, Giovanni was still waiting for him in Viridian City, expecting him to show up for an evaluation. There was no need to worry about Giovanni appearing here.
As they spoke, a group of black-clad trainers rushed out from the hallway ahead.
After the Mt. Moon and Vermilion Gym incidents, August had developed a very effective strategy against multiple opponents—
Take out the trainers before they could even send out their Pokémon.
Before they could react, he activated [Pressure], then signaled Gardevoir.
The moment those trainers felt the oppressive aura, a wave of unease washed over them.
Before they could even reach for their Poké Balls, Gardevoir’s Psychic blast swept through the corridor.
Three seconds later, all but one of the Rocket Grunts were unconscious on the ground.
The only one still standing was a squad leader with a Hypno, barely hanging on thanks to Hypno’s abilities.
The squad leader’s eyes widened in shock as he took in the scene before him.
What just happened?
But before he could even process it, a small shadow appeared in front of him.
Slap! Slap!
Two quick smacks later, his Hypno was knocked out cold.
It was only then that he got a clear look at the figure in front of him—
An Eevee?!
His final memory was of Eevee’s paw slamming into his face.
After dealing with the squad leader, Eevee rummaged through his pockets and retrieved a red "R"-marked communicator before proudly leaping into August’s arms.
"Bui~!"
August gave Eevee a fond pat on the head before turning to Blue, shaking the communicator in his hand.
"See? We’ve already got evidence."
He took a quick photo and sent it to Lance, requesting that League reinforcements be dispatched to Silph Co..
Then he gestured to Blue, who was still processing everything.
"Come on, let’s move to the next floor."
...
"Intruders have reached the ninth floor…!"
"Dammit, ninth-floor defenses have been breached!"
"Twenty elite grunts only lasted three minutes—what the hell are we dealing with?!"
"Reinforce the fifteenth floor immediately! Everyone, fall back and rebuild the defensive line!"
Inside Silph Co.’s security control room, the Rocket team in charge of operations was in a complete panic.
When Team Rocket took over Silph Co., they had already planned for a League intervention.
They had spies planted within the League’s Saffron branch, ready to alert them if a large-scale attack was coming—giving them enough time to evacuate.
In theory, their plan should have been foolproof.
But they never expected one person to single-handedly tear through their defenses.
"Calm down."
A voice from behind instantly silenced the room.
"Sird-sama!"
Sird’s gaze swept over the monitors, nearly a quarter of which had already turned to static.
"Who is the intruder?"
She quickly analyzed the situation.
Lance was tied up at League HQ.
Lorelei was occupied in the Sevii Islands.
Agatha was in Lavender Town.
Bruno had returned to the mountains after finishing his mission in Celadon City.
In theory, no one in Kanto should have been capable of causing this much damage.
One of her subordinates responded, "Based on reports and Pokémon sightings, it should be… August, ‘The Demon Ranger.’"
A shiny Gardevoir was too distinct to be mistaken for someone else.
"…Wasn’t he supposed to be in Pewter City?"
As a high-ranking Team Rocket Executive, Sird was aware that Giovanni had personally tested August at Mt. Moon.
By all logic, August should have been in Pewter, or at worst, in Viridian City conducting an evaluation.
So how was he here in Saffron City?!
There was no time to think further. On the monitors, the intruder's icon was already tearing through the 10th, 11th, and 12th floors, heading straight for their next defensive line.
Sird quickly made a decision.
This mission was too important to fail.
Grabbing the radio, she issued her command:
"Hold him at the 15th floor. I’ll handle him myself."
Hearing that Sird herself was stepping in, the Rocket members instantly regained their confidence.
Sird was a trainer strong enough to battle Lorelei without falling behind.
Taking care of one August should be effortless.
---
After taking down another lone Rocket Grunt, August noticed something.
"The number of enemies is decreasing…"
"Are they regrouping to focus their defenses?"
Unlike in the games, Team Rocket wasn’t dumb enough to stand around in fixed positions, waiting to be defeated one by one.
Since they had realized they couldn’t stop him with scattered forces, it made sense that they were withdrawing to fortify a single area.
"How many people have we freed so far?" August turned to Blue.
He had been focused on fighting, while Blue had been in charge of rescuing captured employees.
Blue quickly tallied the numbers.
"23 researchers, 172 regular employees, and 7 members of Silph Co.’s original security team."
"But we still haven’t found the investigation team…"
"According to the guards we freed, they’re probably on the 15th floor."
"That’s where Silph Co. keeps their secure vault."
