Pokémon: My Titles Know No Limits! [111]
Added 2025-03-01 04:03:45 +0000 UTCHearing August’s words, Sabrina's movements paused.
To be cautious, she had already sent Sird away—she hadn’t expected to be exposed because of a lingering scent...
Damn you, Sird.
Though a flicker of panic crossed her heart, Sabrina’s face remained composed, showing only mild confusion. “Sird? You mean one of Team Rocket’s Three Beasts was at the Saffron Gym?”
Feigning ignorance was her way of gauging how much August actually knew.
If he truly knew she was with Team Rocket...
Yet, contrary to Sabrina’s expectations, August didn’t press further. Instead, he simply smiled and said, “Or maybe Eevee just got the scent wrong...”
Eevee smelled Sird’s scent?
Of course not.
Eevee wasn’t an Arcanine—it didn’t have that kind of keen sense of smell.
That claim was pure deception.
It was all a ploy to put psychological pressure on Sabrina, to see if she’d slip up.
And so far, it was half successful. Sabrina hadn’t revealed any flaws in her facade, but it was obvious she was under mental strain.
Just as she was about to probe further, August cut her off. “These are just trivial matters, Miss Sabrina. Let’s begin the Gym Challenge battle!”
Trivial matters? Then why bring it up in the first place?!
Sabrina hated people like August—the kind who hinted at something important, only to brush it off with a smile.
Her slender fingers clenched behind her back, turning pale from the pressure.
But remembering that this was an official Gym battle, she forced herself to remain composed and smiled. “Very well. Let’s begin.”
Even though Sabrina tried to conceal it, August still caught the subtle shift in her tone.
He chuckled.
She was close to breaking.
Patting the still-drowsy Eevee, both trainers took their positions.
There was no referee—none was needed.
August and Sabrina sent out their Pokémon simultaneously.
“Vee~?”
Eevee landed on the battlefield with a bewildered expression, clearly not expecting to be the first one sent out.
Sending Eevee was a calculated decision.
Sabrina was no easy opponent. If he used Swampert like before, it would be a complete disaster.
And since Gardevoir was both his trump card and protector, he couldn’t risk sending her out too soon.
That made Eevee the best choice.
On the other side, Sabrina sent out a Mr. Mime.
The white Pokémon had four limb-like appendages attached to its round, doll-like body, and red dots on its cheeks gave it a comical appearance.
As soon as it entered the battlefield, Mr. Mime spread its hands and began miming in the air, as if performing an invisible play.
A blue light flickered in Gardevoir’s eyes as she saw through Mr. Mime’s trick.
"Be careful, it’s creating psychic barriers."
For the first time, Gardevoir included Eevee in her telepathic message, relaying the warning to both August and Eevee at once.
"Vee... vee?"
Eevee, fascinated by the new sensation of telepathy, started repeatedly calling out to August through the mental link.
August sighed.
"...Not now. We’re in battle."
Hearing August’s stern reply, Eevee finally settled down.
Mr. Mime continued its silent performance, making no move to attack.
August knew it was up to him to take the first strike.
"Eevee, [Swift]!"
“Vee!”
Eevee sprang into action, its small frame moving with surprising agility. In the blink of an eye, it crossed half the battlefield and unleashed a flurry of glowing stars at Mr. Mime.
Thanks to Gardevoir’s prior warning, Eevee was able to maneuver around the hidden barriers and directly attack Mr. Mime.
Watching this, Sabrina was momentarily distracted, but she quickly realized her Pokémon’s trick had been exposed. Suppressing her growing unease, her eyes flickered toward Gardevoir.
“Mr. Mime, block it.”
Mr. Mime made a sweeping motion with its hands, instantly erecting an invisible wall in front of itself.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Swift’s energy projectiles collided with the barrier, producing a series of small explosions.
As the smoke cleared, Mr. Mime stood there covered in soot, comically wrapping invisible bandages around its arms.
Sabrina wasn’t particularly surprised.
Back at Silph Co., she had already witnessed Eevee battle against Sird’s Persian.
She knew this Eevee was stronger than it appeared.
“Mr. Mime, use [Future Sight].”
Under Sabrina’s command, Mr. Mime pressed two fingers against its temple, sending a pulse of psychic energy toward an unseen point in the future.
Meanwhile, Eevee lunged forward.
“Vee!”
With an exaggeratedly fierce expression, Eevee attempted to use [Bite] on Mr. Mime.
The comical image of the small Eevee baring its teeth might have seemed funny to an outsider, but Mr. Mime wasn’t laughing.
Having already experienced the force behind Eevee’s [Swift], it knew better than to underestimate its opponent.
Following Sabrina’s orders, Mr. Mime waved its hands and quickly erected another invisible wall.
Reflect!
Thunk!
Eevee smacked straight into the barrier, producing a crisp bonk.
Vee~!
Through their telepathic link, both August and Gardevoir could feel Eevee’s pain.
Tears welled up in its big eyes as it pitifully looked at Mr. Mime.
For a brief moment, Mr. Mime hesitated.
And that was exactly what Eevee wanted.
A sly grin spread across its face as it swiftly maneuvered around the [Reflect] barrier and smacked Mr. Mime right in the abdomen.
Mr. Mime doubled over in pain, completely caught off guard.
Eevee immediately retreated, snatching a bent spoon from Mr. Mime in the process.
Covet.
Mr. Mime looked on in frustration as Eevee darted away, the stolen spoon clamped between its teeth.
It had all happened in an instant—so fast that even Sabrina hadn’t been able to react in time.
“You certainly live up to the title of Elite Four Lance’s chosen examiner, Mr. August.” Sabrina complimented, her tone neutral.
“Oh, it’s nothing...” August responded humbly.
While the two exchanged words, the battle continued.
Eevee, still holding the spoon in its mouth, taunted Mr. Mime.
Mr. Mime attempted to reclaim it, but Eevee kept dodging—nearly finishing the fight with another [Swift] attack.
“Forget the spoon. Use [Psychic]!” Sabrina commanded.
Mr. Mime stopped chasing Eevee, spread its hands, and sent a powerful wave of psychic energy toward its opponent.
At the same time, the air distorted—an unseen force from [Future Sight] was now closing in on Eevee!
