Pokémon: My Titles Know No Limits! [124]

All three rewards were tempting.

The [Mewtwo Mega Stones] were self-explanatory, but as for [Celebi’s Blessing]

To be honest, August wasn’t entirely sure what it did.

If it was something useful, the system really should’ve provided a description.

But if it was useless… well, it’s still Celebi.

A Pokémon with the power to traverse time.

Even a powerhouse like the Iron-Masked Marauder had spent years desperately chasing after Celebi.

After some thought, August decided to go with the [Mewtwo Mega Stones] rather than gambling on [Celebi’s Blessing].

First, he already possessed both the [Viridian Power] and [Aura], so he didn’t particularly need whatever [Celebi’s Blessing] had to offer. Even if it was powerful, it was highly unlikely to grant him actual time travel.

Second, Mewtwo’s creation was imminent. August had already resolved to get involved in the situation via Mew, and a [Mewtwo Mega Stone] would be the perfect entry point for forming a connection with Mewtwo.

If he could manage to recruit Mewtwo, and then pair it with [Mega Evolution], he’d basically become unstoppable in Kanto.

Giovanni?

Yeah, no—if he wants to keep running Team Rocket, he’ll have to check with me first.

With that satisfying vision of the future, August turned his attention back to the system panel.

“…Now, which Mega Stone should I choose?”

“Eevee?”

Eevee poked its little head out from under the blankets, tilting its head in curiosity.

“…?”

Since when did you get in here?

August shot Eevee a deadpan look, picked it up by the scruff of its neck, and tossed it back into its own bed.

Then, he refocused on the system screen.

Honestly?

He wanted to pick both Mega Stones.

But obviously, the system wasn’t going to let him do that.

After some deliberation, he chose [Mewtwo Mega Stone X].

Not for any deep strategic reason—simply because Mewtwo Y’s fighting style overlapped too much with Gardevoir’s.

There could only be one radiant star in his heart.

And that was Gardevoir.

“The sky cannot have two suns! My heart has room for only one—Gardevoir!” August declared dramatically as he leaped up from his bed.

In his personal bedroom, there was a special bed set aside just for Gardevoir, allowing it to watch over him 24/7.

After all, as a member of the International Police, he had to remain vigilant at all times.

At that moment, Gardevoir—who had been rudely woken up—stared at him as if he were an idiot.

Her gaze was clear.

Stop acting crazy.

...

Since Sabrina’s phone call had woken him early, August decided to make use of the extra time by organizing a morning training session for his Pokémon.

"Whooo~"

On the battlefield, Dragonair’s glowing tail whipped Shelgon into the air.

Shelgon’s round, armored body tumbled across the field before quickly stabilizing itself. Without hesitation, it charged forward with a [Headbutt], but Dragonair easily dodged.

Refusing to back down, Shelgon tried again, only for Dragonair to use its flying abilities to widen the gap between them.

Nearby, Gyarados, now a deep red in color, was training with Marshtomp in the pool.

Marshtomp shot out a [Water Gun], which barely made a splash.

Gyarados gave it a you call that an attack? look, then opened its mouth and fired a [Hydro Pump] that completely flooded the pool, causing water to overflow onto the lawn—much to the frustration of Lawnmower Rotom, which was busy trimming the grass.

Meanwhile, Baby Lugia was lying on the lawn, following Gardevoir’s instructions on using [Meditate] to enhance its psychic power.

Perhaps due to its Legendary nature, Baby Lugia’s learning speed was ridiculously fast, and it grasped the technique almost instantly.

The most hardworking one, however, was Pidgeotto, who tirelessly soared through the sky, repeatedly practicing its newly learned [Aerial Ace].

Blue, who had just woken up—still groggy from being dragged out of bed by Chansey—saw all of this and felt deep shame.

Compared to August, she was way too lazy.

...

"Alright, that’s enough for this morning," August finally announced.

Seeing that Blue was finally up, he called all the Pokémon over.

"Time for breakfast, everyone!"

"Today’s menu: delicious Galar-style breakfast curry!"

At his words, Shelgon’s eyes locked onto him.

Noticing its resentful gaze, August awkwardly scratched his head.

"Oh… Right. Shelgon, you don’t eat normal food. My bad."

"…"

Daily emotional damage: 1/1.

As the other Pokémon cheerfully flew toward the dining table, Shelgon watched in frustration as they happily ate their Galar-style breakfast.

But there was nothing it could do.

With a heavy sigh, Shelgon trudged to the corner of the living room, curled up on its [Dragon Crystal], and resumed absorbing energy to accelerate its growth.

Ever since evolving into Shelgon, it had spent most of its non-training, non-sleeping hours absorbing energy from the crystal.

Lying there, it inhaled the aroma of the food while trying to convince itself that it was eating.

But then, suddenly—

Shelgon felt… full?

“?”

Startled, it opened its eyes.

Had it… mastered the art of fasting?

But when it checked its stomach… still empty.

Yet, the feeling of fullness remained.

Closing its eyes again, it focused on the sensation—

And then…

A brilliant white glow burst forth from Shelgon’s body, instantly drawing the attention of everyone and every Pokémon present.

“Eevee?”

Eevee tilted its head curiously.

Blue stared at the glowing Shelgon, its rapidly growing form illuminated by the dazzling light.

“…Is it evolving?”

Her eyes widened.

If she remembered correctly, it had only been about a month since Bagon evolved into Shelgon at Celadon University’s cafeteria…

Wasn’t the Bagon evolutionary line supposed to be slow to mature?

Why was this happening so fast?

This growth rate was practically on par with early-game Bug-types!

Even August was caught off guard.

He looked down at the plate of curry he had barely taken two bites from.

Sure, Rotom’s cooking was great—the curry was undeniably delicious…

But was it really so good that it could trigger evolution?

Shelgon’s evolution process lasted nearly half a minute.

As the white light gradually faded, Shelgon’s silver armor cracked and fell away, leaving only three enlarged plates to protect its abdomen.

Its once-gray body turned sky-blue, its tail grew thick and powerful, and most importantly—

It unfurled a pair of massive, blood-red wings.

"ROARRRR!"

Seeing that his Shelgon had successfully evolved into Salamence, August was beyond proud.

All the daily encouragement, the constant motivation—it had finally paid off.

Salamence, clearly thrilled with its new form, immediately dashed toward August.

August spread his arms wide, preparing to give it a celebratory hug—

Only for Salamence to completely ignore him and dive straight for the dining table instead!
