Progress Report

Hey everyone !
A new progress report already ? Well yeah, seems like it.
I'll stop calling them weekly progress report by the way because I stopped forcing myself to do one every week. Sometimes it's gonna be every week sometime every 2 weeks, it kinda depends on what I have to say. And I got stuff to say this week so here we are.

I'm currently done with 3 scenes, (or actually more like 6 cuz that goes for 6 spots in the recollection room since it's hard to consider the new Lucy quest as just one scene.)
Which might not seem that big a number but those were part of the bigger ones to make especially with all the mapping related to it but we already talked about it previously.

No, what I wanted to talk about today is a bit different. You've probably seen that I started remaking some old repeatable animation and it started with me adopting a new format for them and being dissatisfied with Nami's repeatable animations which were the first I ever made and completely sucked.
But it's kind of getting bigger than that. The new RA (repeatable animations) are framed and as such they allow for more different angle and positions than the old format where I had to make sure both characters could completely fit in a small part of the screen without being cropped. That means I can make wayyyy better stuff, and if you've seen the image I shared with Nami, you can guess what I mean. So right now I will slowly start to remake every single random animation for every character. This is a lot of work so this will span multiple updates so don't expect your favorite characters from Chapter 3 (I know it's Nemona don't lie to me) to get their RA remade just yet.
And there's more to that. Actually most of the characters introduced before Chapter 3 have no shading in their dialogue portrait so while I'm remaking their RA i'm also remaking the dialogue portrait.

This gives more depth and brings more life to the different characters. And it's also a great occasion for me to remake some faces looking off like the different Izumi's ahegao's faces.

What's been done so far :
- Every Nami's RA and her dialogue pictures (not including the one with Nemona)
- Every Izumi's RA and her dialogue pictures (not including the one with Nemona)
- Every Robin's RA (her dialogue pictures were already remade as she was staring in Chapter 4) (not including the one with Nemona nor the one in the Tavern)
- Also made it so you can still play Robin's RA in the MC's house (the one in her room and the one with Nami in the bath) even after she moves to the Tavern with Levy. And I made it so it's still lore accurate.


Okay I admit that's a big post. Well done if you read it til the end. Still I figured it's a lot of interesting information to give you guys.

If you mean the 2d sprites, I use Aseprite. And if you want a detailled explanation : - for the hair I use Rpgmaker sprite creator to create multiple different sprites with all the assets I might want, like one for the back hair, one for the front hair, one for every particular lock of hair I may want. Then I combine them together on one single spritesheet. - For the clothes, I just make them by hand. I start with a naked body and I slowly make every part of the clothing pixel by pixel.
