Honkai: Star Rail – Banner Character, Delivering Knives to the Player [4]

Very soon, Ah Xian got a piece of new intel that made her eyes light up.

The story had progressed to the part where the Doomsday Beast invades the space station and Asta tells the Express crew to retreat.

During the scene where they temporarily regroup in the support module, a new name appeared in the dialogue.

Himeko: "This is the support module where the maintenance staff works. The nearest platform is J-34. Let’s head there to meet up with Welt and Lingzhou."

March 7th: "Uncle Yang and Lingzhou? Weren’t they staying on the train?"

Dan Heng: "The Express’s navigation system tracks our ticket signals — they’d definitely have noticed all the commotion in the space station."

Himeko: "When Asta asked us to help, I messaged Welt in a rush and told him and Lingzhou to hold the train.

"Platform J-23 is in the central sector of the space station — a prime target for enemy movement. They’ll definitely head for J-34."

"The Doomsday Beast isn’t hard to handle, but if an Emanator of Destruction is involved in this attack..."

Stelle blinked in confusion, new to the world and its dangers.

"What’s an Emanator of Destruction? Are they strong?"

Himeko: "I’ll explain later. For now, while there aren’t many voidspawn in this area, let’s move quickly."

“I swear on the sanitary pads I’ll need for the next three days: Lingzhou didn’t exist in the beta!

Ah Xian’s voice was tinged with excitement.

“I thought we’d have to wait until Xianzhou to meet the new character — turns out he’s been on the train this whole time!”

“Everyone knows — well, a few of us beta testers know — that Old Yang’s actually from Honkai Impact 3rd.”

“Same with Void Archives. But he hasn’t shown up. Then there’s Himeko still alive on the train…”

“Could it be that Lingzhou is another counterpart from the Honkai universe? Abundance Path... Could he be Su?”

“Su was one of the Thirteen Flame-Chasers from the pre-collapse era in Honkai Impact 3rd. He was a doctor trying to cure the Honkai disease.”

“It kinda fits, doesn’t it?”

At her speculation, many long-time Honkai fans in the chat felt a faint flicker of hope stir in their chests.

Honkai 3rd had left behind far too many regrets — but Star Rail was different.

Star Rail was a space comedy.

And in a space comedy, surely there’d be no tragedy.

Himeko-jiejie being alive and well was already proof of that.

If more counterparts started showing up… who knew? Maybe they’d even see Mei or Elysia again.

That thought alone made Ah Xian rush forward in the story, eager to reach the first real boss fight.

Normally, impatience backfires.

But this time was different — her recklessness accidentally paid off.

Many other streamers who hadn’t spent as much on pulls had already beaten the Doomsday Beast.

Among them, only a handful of beta testers noticed Lingzhou’s name — and even then, didn’t think much of it.

During the boss fight, Ah Xian idly refreshed the official wiki.

Still no update on the new character. Meaning: no one in the live version had encountered him yet.

The Doomsday Beast’s BGM had a pulsing rhythm — hard not to tap your feet to it.

But as she played, Ah Xian started noticing something odd.

Why is the Doomsday Beast targeting Stelle so often?

A quick glance at the chat told her she wasn’t imagining it.

That bastard boss kept landing hits on Stelle.

“What’s your problem, huh? You think my fully Eidolon’d Seele’s scythe won’t slice you apart?”

“Hmph. Allow me to put you out of your misery.”

“Dissolve into the butterflies, along with the phantoms of yesterday!”

The screen boomed with an explosion as one of the Doomsday Beast’s arms hit zero HP, exposing its core.

Ah Xian smirked at the massive crit number.

“You think you can beat me? Money is power, darling.”

Then she used a single skill to wipe the Doomsday Beast’s core HP bar.

But just as it began floating again, regaining its toughness, her stomach dropped.

Crap.

She’d forgotten the fight had two phases — and hadn’t refreshed Stelle’s shield.

One or two characters dying wasn’t the end of the world, but it would open her up to ridicule in clips.

Shocking! Whaled-out Seele player loses squadmates to the tutorial boss!

Even with an E6S5 Seele, she couldn’t keep her team alive!

The Doomsday Beast cast its ultimate: Impending Doom.

Over a dozen golden-purple lasers rained down — biubiubiu — and instantly obliterated Stelle, who was already low on HP.

Chat, fully prepared, hit Enter in perfect unison.

[She's dead! It’s all your fault, smh!]
[Who dies to the Doomsday Beast in 2025?!]
[She had Natasha and still didn’t bring her.]
[Are we about to witness an actual wipe?]

Before anyone could add more commentary, something unexpected happened — every headphone user in chat flinched at once.

A voice rang out in the right audio channel — sudden, clear, and unfamiliar:

???: “Let me assist you!”

A cutscene began.

A blurred figure shot into the air, revealing half of his back.

He stretched out his left hand toward the ground — a pale wind vortex swirled outward from his palm, enveloping both the team and the boss.

It was only a glimpse, but they caught enough: feathered wings.

And a partial side profile — just enough to send every female viewer screaming.

“Woc—he’s hot!”

Ah Xian blurted it out before she could stop herself.

Before she could recover, the scene snapped back to gameplay — and everyone’s HP bars were full again.

A new button had appeared on the right side of the screen — R — with a tutorial pop-up:

Lingzhou will assist your team in battle. Your characters’ actions charge Lingzhou’s support meter. When full, press R to activate “Dependable Adult’s Support.”

“Ahhh! He’s so dependable, hubby!!”

The viewers: Excuse me?

Hubby?!

Already?

[Time for the long, high-effort doujin arc.]
[Not gonna lie, he is pretty hot. Got that Dan Heng-imbued-with-soul flavor.]

“There was no support like this in the beta boss fight. Now they’ve added it and even made it tie into the new character — not bad, miHoYo.”

Lingzhou: "From the looks of things, I arrived at just the right time."

March 7th: "Perfect timing! Let’s go — take down that Doomsday Beast!"

With Lingzhou’s support, their HP bars didn’t dip even once through the rest of the fight.

“That’s some seriously juicy healing!”

Ah Xian was genuinely impressed.

If she wasn’t mistaken, each heal landed at a fixed 467 HP.

Didn’t sound like much, but none of her characters even had that much max HP yet.

They were all fully topped off.

The post-battle CG kicked in — Stelle leaped high and smashed the Doomsday Beast’s core, finishing it with a final blow.

As they landed and confidently holstered their weapon, a flash of light signaled the boss’s last desperate counterattack.

A beam of destructive energy shot straight toward March 7th.

Lingzhou, Himeko, Dan Heng: “March!”

Lingzhou moved instantly to intervene — but Stelle was closer.

They lunged forward, taking the full brunt of the blast head-on to shield her.

A brilliant light exploded from Stelle’s chest, and a terrifying shockwave burst outward.

Under that blast of pure energy, the Doomsday Beast was disintegrated — not even dust remained.

Dan Heng: "No — the Stellaron’s going critical!"

March stumbled under the residual force — nearly losing her balance — but Dan Heng caught her just in time.

Himeko’s eyes darkened with concern.

But before she could move—

Lingzhou acted first.
