Pokémon: My Titles Know No Limits! [316]

Gary had left—left with the resolve to grow stronger.

In his own words, he was embarking on a spiritual journey of self-cultivation to heal the heart that had been battered and bruised by August.

To that, August was deeply skeptical.

He knew Gary far too well. That whole “self-cultivation” thing? Yeah, right. The guy was probably off to find Ash just so he could brag about all the amazing stuff he’d done recently.

Still, August had to admit—without Gary, life was a lot duller.

Thinking this, he reached out and deliberately messed up Eevee’s freshly groomed fur. As Eevee let out an indignant string of “Bui! Bui!”, August shut his eyes and pretended he’d done nothing at all.

Eevee stared at his fake-sleeping face, cried out a few more times, and when it got no response, leapt up like a facehugger, smothering August’s entire face.

He hadn’t expected that. One second of carelessness, and his whole face was engulfed in fluffy vengeance.

This is rebellion! A tiny Eevee dares defy its trainer!

“Ugh—Eevee, let go!”

“Bui!”

“Come on, good Eevee, time to get down!”

“Bui!”

“Mew, get over here and help—Eevee’s lost its mind!”

...

A short distance away, Yellow watched the chaos unfolding with a smile.

“August and Eevee are so close!”

Zinnia glanced sideways, snorted, and said, “Yeah, he’s bullying Eevee again. Ignore him. Now, where were we? Oh right—Item thirteen on the list of how to care for Lord Rayquaza!”

“This one’s a secret passed down in ancient Draconid texts and honed through months of my own experience. It’s not something I’d share with just anyone!”

“If Lord Rayquaza didn’t take a liking to you, I’d never have breathed a word of it.”

“Mmhmm.” Yellow nodded with full sincerity.

She was genuinely grateful for the opportunity to learn something this rare and valuable.

Zinnia looked at her, completely satisfied.

Between the two of them—both blessed with special powers—Yellow was so much more adorable than August.

Nearby, Rayquaza stretched out its serpentine body with a relaxed sigh, eavesdropping on their chat with half-lidded eyes.

Such peace... the Sky Pillar feels like a distant memory.

Just then, Mew finally arrived—fashionably late, as always.

But instead of helping August, it pulled out a smartphone and started taking pictures.

So much for rescue. In the end, it was Eevee who, once satisfied, let go and hopped down, looking very pleased with itself.

Sigh... August exhaled. “You’ve picked up some bad habits, haven’t you?”

“Bui~”

Eevee rubbed against August’s leg, letting out little whimpers of apology—conveniently forgetting who started the whole thing.

Watching August emotionally manipulate Eevee, Mew blinked in disbelief.

Wait... you can do that?

With Eevee in his arms, August walked to the estate’s pool. Inside, Lapras and Slowbro were happily playing in the water. Gyarados—fatter than ever from inactivity—was lounging in the shallows taking a midday nap. Wingull was off to the side, clearly plotting how to get its wings on some fries.

The moment they spotted August, Slowbro waddled up and stood at attention.

Wingull started circling, blatantly begging for snacks.

Only Lapras—Glacier—watched him with visible caution.

August waved. Glacier hesitated, then swam closer, still clearly nervous.

“How’s life here? Settling in okay?” August asked as he patted Glacier’s head gently.

So many things had happened lately that he hadn’t gotten the chance to really talk to Glacier since receiving it from Pryce.

“Wuuu~”

Feeling the warmth in August’s touch, Glacier relaxed, letting out a long, gentle cry.

Its voice was soothing—almost otherworldly. Something about it felt like it could cleanse the soul.

But August wasn’t here just for small talk.

Pryce had once entrusted Glacier to him, and if possible, asked him to save its parents too. Back when he only had Celebi, August wasn’t sure it was possible.

Celebi was the forest guardian, not exactly an expert on time travel.

But now, with Dialga in his corner... there was a real shot.

He tossed out Dialga’s Poké Ball. The time dragon blinked groggily, clearly annoyed at being disturbed mid-nap.

It stared at August, confused.

August pointed at Glacier. “This little one lost its parents in an accident. Can you bring them back?”

Dialga understood instantly.

He was asking it to retrieve someone—some Pokémon—from the timeline.

Technically speaking, that was a huge no-no. Time manipulation on that scale could destabilize the timeline, and past-Dialga would be stuck cleaning up the mess.

But this was August asking...

Dialga’s chest gem lit up in a brilliant blue glow.

A shimmering portal opened before them.

Dialga leaned in halfway. About ten seconds later, it emerged again—now accompanied by two Lapras, both wearing confused expressions.

“Wuuu~!”

The instant Glacier saw them, it darted forward and wrapped around them both.

The two adult Lapras froze, but once they caught Glacier’s scent, realization dawned.

Their child.

The three embraced tightly.

Watching them, Dialga yawned, then calmly returned to its Poké Ball.

As for fixing the timeline? Eh, let past-Dialga deal with it.

...

In the underground prison, a heated debate was raging.

The participants: Maxie, Archie, Cyrus, and Matori.

Maxie: “Team Magma’s vision is obviously correct! Awaken Groudon, expand the landmass—more space means better living conditions for everyone!”

Archie: “Hah! Life came from the ocean! Awaken Kyogre, expand the seas—that’s how we make the world better!”

Cyrus: “Idiots. The entire world should be destroyed. I will create a new one.”

Matori: “With Giovanni in charge, only Team Rocket has the right to rule this world.”

All of them were locked up, but that didn’t stop them from arguing over which of their organizations was most fit to rule the planet. Honestly? It was almost... entertaining.

Just as the shouting hit a peak, the prison door creaked open.

August stepped in, raising an eyebrow at the chaos. “Wow, sounds like a party in here.”

The room fell silent.

Maxie, Archie, and Cyrus all clammed up.

In August’s presence, they were all losers—and they knew it.

Only Matori kept up the attitude. “Giovanni will come for me. Just you wait.”

Giovanni was the only leader who hadn’t been caught. That was her last thread of hope.

Too bad Sird didn’t share her optimism.

“Ha! You think Giovanni actually dares show up here?”

She’d witnessed August’s power firsthand at the Sky Pillar. If Giovanni so much as stepped foot here, there was an empty cell just waiting for him.

That was the only outcome.

“Sird...” Matori turned toward her, wishing she could sew her mouth shut.

But Sird had once been one of the legendary Three Beasts. Whether in Pokémon command or personal combat, she outclassed Matori in every way.

All Matori could do was glare and simmer.

August ignored them.

He walked straight over to Pryce’s cell.

Pryce looked up, puzzled, but August said nothing—just handed him a photo.

Pryce lowered his head and looked. In the picture, two adult Lapras and one young one were nestled together, smiles bright on their faces.

“This is...” Pryce’s voice faltered. He stared, recognizing the faces—then remained silent for a long while.

Eventually, he looked up. “Thank you.”

His face held a mix of relief, gratitude, and release.

He understood now. The burden he’d carried for decades had finally been lifted.

August sighed inwardly. I really am too softhearted. I can’t stand unresolved tragedies.

Without another word, he turned and left.

The moment he was gone, the room grew restless again—their argument ready to resume.

But Pryce’s eyes flashed cold.

“Silence.”

The entire prison froze.

Even Cyrus quieted under that icy authority.

...

Indigo Plateau

Inside his office, Lance was buried in work.

He was reviewing a report: recent sightings of potential Team Rocket activity near the Sevii Islands.

Thanks to what August had told him before about Giovanni and Deoxys, Lance was paying close attention.

Suddenly, the door knocked.

“Come in!” he called, eyes still glued to the report.

The door opened.

A familiar voice chimed, “Wow, you’re still buried in paperwork?”

Lance looked up—and saw August, looking at him like he pitied his life choices.

“.....”

If you don’t have anything useful to say, maybe just say nothing.

He’d been keeping up with August’s recent escapades through social media.

Apparently, he’d taken a trip to Sinnoh, scored himself a luxury airship, and even threw a party.

By comparison, Lance’s grind toward becoming Johto Champion felt like punishment.

Still, it was only temporary. Once he was crowned Champion, the good life would begin.

That thought cheered him up slightly.

“So, what brings you here? Shouldn’t you be prepping for the World Championships?”

August dropped onto the couch and poured himself a drink.

“Can’t I just stop by for a chat? How’s the Johto League coming along?”

Assembling the staff wasn’t hard—reassignments could handle that. The real headache was the Elite Four lineup.

Lance: “...”

Of all the things to bring up...

So far, only Bruno and Koga were confirmed.

He’d proposed Will and Karen as the other two, and while he had no issue with them, the League Council was resistant.

With Koga already being a reformed defector, adding Will and Karen meant three out of four weren’t “pure” League loyalists. Bruno would be the only one without a checkered past.

It didn’t look great politically.

“I could speak to the Council for you,” August offered. “If it’s just Will and Karen, it’s not a big deal.”

In August’s eyes, those two were no threat. With Pryce’s Lapras reunited and the man emotionally unburdened, his old subordinates were no longer a concern either.

Lance perked up. With August’s influence, the Council’s opposition would shrink significantly.

“Thanks, seriously.”

“Don’t mention it... Oh, by the way, any updates on Team Rocket?”

Giovanni was playing dirty.

August had even sent him a photo of Sird in custody—and Giovanni blocked him.

He was almost certain Giovanni had finished creating Deoxys. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be this bold.

That’s why he came—to see if Lance had any new intel.

Lance blinked. “How’d you know I just got something?”

He handed over the file.

August skimmed it. His face turned knowing.

Rocket activity had resumed across the Sevii Islands. Sightings were increasing.

To others, it looked low-key. To August, it screamed: Giovanni’s up to something.

“I’ll handle this,” August said. “Time to give Giovanni a surprise.”

Lance had zero objections. That was one less item on his overflowing plate.

“Oh right—Lorelei’s headed back to the Sevii Islands. Why not go with her?” Lance suggested.

“She’s still here? Perfect.”

August grabbed the office phone and dialed her number.

...

When Lorelei appeared again, her look had changed from her Sinnoh-ready combat gear back to a sleek pencil skirt and heels—the very image of a corporate ace.

She was a bit surprised to hear August was coming along.

But the moment she learned Team Rocket had resurfaced in her homeland, she only had one thought left: eradicate them.

And how best to do that?

Well, the region’s leading expert on dismantling Team Rocket was standing right in front of her.

Nobody in Kanto had more experience fighting Team Rocket than August.

Lorelei turned to him with sparkling eyes full of hope.

August, sensing her expectation, raised a finger.

“I have a plan...”
