Disguised as an ordinary tourist, August stepped foot onto Sevii Island.
Though it was his first time here, that didn’t change the determined fire in his heart—he was going to uproot Team Rocket from Sevii Island, once and for all.
“August, are you sure she’s reliable?”
As she spoke, Lorelei glanced toward Sird, who stood at a distance, looking out at Sevii Island with a nostalgic expression on her face.
August’s plan had been clear from the start: use Sird—former Team Rocket executive—as a turncoat guide.
But having tangled with Sird for years, Lorelei knew all too well how cunning she could be. Naturally, she had her doubts...
As if sensing her stare, Sird turned, gave Lorelei a little wave, and offered a polite, friendly smile.
Lorelei still frowned.
“We don’t have much choice,” August said, shrugging. “No one in the League knows the ins and outs of Team Rocket’s Sevii Island division like Sird does. Besides, she’s willing to earn a lighter sentence by working with us.”
Of course, the real reason he brought Sird along wasn’t just because of her intel.
What August really wanted... was to see Giovanni’s face when he came face-to-face with Sird again.
At that moment, Sird walked over, covering a soft laugh with one hand. “It’s perfectly reasonable for Lorelei to mistrust me. But surely you believe Giovanni’s hatred for me is real, right? Right now, he probably wants me dead more than anyone.”
As she spoke, her gaze drifted—meaningfully—in a specific direction.
Lorelei, always alert, followed that gaze immediately. In a shadowy corner, a man dressed as a sailor was acting far too suspiciously.
“Jynx, restrain him!”
Lorelei didn’t hesitate. At her command, Jynx stepped forward and blew a kiss.
A wave of pink energy struck the sailor. He collapsed, unconscious, a terrified expression still frozen on his face, like he was trapped in a nightmare.
Sird strolled over, reached into his pocket, and pulled out a communicator and a red “R” badge.
“Heh... this guy’s one of the Sevii Island infiltration squad. Used to be under my command. Since I left, I bet Carr—that moron—is the one managing them now.”
As soon as Sird finished speaking, the communicator crackled with an enraged voice: “Sird, you traitor! You actually dare come back?!”
Sird turned toward August and Lorelei with a look that clearly said, See? Told you so.
Then the communicator let out a loud snap, sparked, and burned out in a puff of acrid smoke—Carr had triggered its self-destruct.
Watching all this unfold, Lorelei finally understood what August had meant earlier.
No one knows Team Rocket better than Team Rocket.
To root out their presence on Sevii Island for good, maybe Sird was the key.

Inside Team Rocket’s Base
Carr hurled a piece of equipment across the room, smashing it to pieces.
That wretched woman Sird—wasn’t she supposed to be a stray dog by now? And she still dared to mock him?
Didn’t she realize he was now the Chief Administrator of Sevii Island?!
After venting, Carr finally calmed down.
Sird showing up on Sevii Island, especially with Lorelei at her side... Could it be that after the collapse of Team Galactic, she defected to the League?
If that were true, it could complicate things.
Giovanni had entrusted Carr with full authority over Sevii Island’s operations—proof of his trust in Carr’s abilities.
And if Sird really was working with the League... she might actually be able to uncover some of their secrets.
Carr paced in his office a few more times, then suddenly had a stroke of brilliance.
If that conniving woman thought she understood Sevii Island’s operations, why not use that? He could set a trap—tailor-made just for her.
No sooner said than done. Carr picked up his communicator and began barking orders to his subordinates.
Once everything was arranged, he sat back in his chair, grinning smugly at the image of Sird falling for it.
“Hah! Stupid woman. Just wait until you witness the astounding brilliance of Carr!”
---
“In my experience, Carr will definitely try to play smart—he’ll assume I know Sevii Island’s layout and use that to set a trap specifically aimed at me,” Sird said calmly in the meeting room.
Lorelei still looked unconvinced. August, meanwhile, was teasing a baby Lugia.
The little Lugia had only just awoken from a long sleep and had grown significantly—it now took up half the room on its own.
August was starting to worry. If it keeps growing like this, will I even be able to keep it at home?
And the five-spice aroma clinging to its body hadn’t weakened at all with growth. If anything, it had gotten stronger—and now, it seemed to be developing a strange ability to attract Pokémon.
Like it was baked into its DNA.
Great... did I just accidentally create a new subspecies? What is this, a paradox form or a regional variant...?
While August was deep in thought, Lorelei asked:
“If Carr is setting a trap, then what’s our move?”
Though Sird had been an enemy once, Lorelei was willing to put aside old grudges—for now. They had a bigger problem in Team Rocket.
Sird replied smoothly, “We play along.”
“What?”
“We go along with Carr’s little game. Let him think we’re taking the bait. Lure him out, and then take him down in one blow.”
Lorelei frowned. “But what if Giovanni shows up?”
Before they’d arrived, August had warned her that Giovanni might still be somewhere on Sevii Island...
Mid-sentence, Lorelei stopped and slapped her forehead. She’d completely forgotten—August was standing right there!
He hadn’t said a word this whole time, and she’d subconsciously tuned him out.
But with August’s strength? Giovanni would be the one running in circles to avoid him.
After thinking it over carefully, Lorelei realized the plan was solid and gave her approval.
“So we just wait now, until Team Rocket finishes setting the trap?” she asked.
Hearing this, August finally stopped playing with the baby Lugia and said,
“Waiting for Carr to come to us is a waste of time. Sird, you know the locations of Team Rocket’s major bases here, right? Let’s go sweep them out—one by one.”
Let’s see if we can drag Giovanni out into the open...
That last part stayed in his head.
...
Five Island, also known as the Island of Time
Despite being called a single island, it was actually a small archipelago—home to luxurious resorts and a booming tourism industry.
August, dressed like a regular League trainer, trailed after Lorelei and Sird.
Thanks to Sird’s guidance, they’d already cleared out six Team Rocket bases.
Lorelei was appalled by how many Rocket installations there were on Sevii Island. August, on the other hand, wasn’t thrilled either.
Most of the bases Sird had shown him were abandoned.
Only two had any Rocket operatives stationed inside.
Not that it was Sird’s fault—Giovanni was just as cautious as ever...
“According to intel we got from that last Rocket grunt, the base on Five Island is still active. It’s stocked with a huge supply cache,” Sird said, eyeing the forest ahead. “But I’d bet anything this one’s a trap set by Carr.”
Lorelei tensed, already gripping her Poké Ball tightly. She was ready for a fight.
August, meanwhile, was playing with a Psyduck he’d lured in earlier with an energy cube. After using the [Power of Viridian] to cure its chronic headaches, the Psyduck had latched onto him like glue.
“August, that Psyduck—” Lorelei started, concerned the upcoming battle might put it at risk.
August gave Psyduck a reassuring pat. “Don’t worry. It won’t hold us back.”
“Quack!”
Psyduck had no idea what he was saying, but hey—just nod along and act cool!
Lorelei: “...”
You're too strong. Whatever you say goes...
With August around, watching over a single Psyduck wasn’t an issue. So she said no more.
The group stepped into the forest.
Immediately, Lorelei sensed something strange—like they were being watched from all sides.
She went on high alert.
August, however, casually activated his Aura and scanned the surroundings. Then, bored out of his mind, he turned to Lorelei and said, “It’s nothing. Just some Rocket-owned Hoothoot and Noctowl, plus a few fake surveillance cameras.”
Huh. I thought they might’ve whipped up something new. Guess not.
Just as he finished, a cacophony of hoots erupted from the trees.
“Hoo! Hoo!”
A swarm—dozens, maybe a hundred strong—of Hoothoot, led by Noctowl, dove toward them from above.
Lorelei turned to him. “...These are your ‘few’?”
With Sird still technically a prisoner and unarmed, it was up to August and Lorelei to do the fighting.
Lorelei sent out her Cloyster, blasting the Hoothoot from the sky with volleys of [Spike Cannon].
August turned to Psyduck with a grin.
“Feel the power in your mind. Trust yourself. You can do this!”
Eyes shut tight, Psyduck suddenly snapped them open.
Gone was the derpy little duck. A wave of psychic power surged from its head, catching a dozen Hoothoot mid-air in telekinetic stasis.
“Quack!?”
Even Psyduck was startled by its own strength.
August, watching the rest fall to Lorelei’s assault, smiled.
Knew it. Every Psyduck’s a sleeping giant.
But just as he thought that, Psyduck clutched its head again.
“Quaaack!”
Yep... overdid it. The headache was back.

Inside the Rocket Base
Carr watched the surveillance feed, stunned.
Sird hadn’t brought any Pokémon?
That meant... he’d been wrong. She wasn’t an ally of the League—she was a prisoner!
That was excellent news.
It meant he only had to worry about Lorelei.
As for that random League trainer with her? Carr didn’t give him a second thought.
Let them laugh. Let them celebrate this minor win.
Those Hoothoot were just the appetizer. A meaningless part of the much grander trap he’d set.
Once they stepped into the base... then they’d know real fear.
If he could capture Sird, it would be a monumental achievement. He might even be named Giovanni’s successor—the next boss of Team Rocket!
The thought filled him with excitement. He grabbed the radio.
“Send another squad. Make the act believable. Lure them to the base!”
Then he checked his Poké Balls, and with his loyal Forretress trailing behind, stepped out of the office.
---
“Jynx, [Powder Snow]!”
A flurry swept out, freezing a charging Tauros mid-step.
The Rocket squad sent to intercept them was quickly defeated.
Lorelei now stood before their trembling squad captain. “What were you guarding?”
The Rocket grunt, stiff with cold, tried to act tough. “You’ll never get near our supply warehouse!”
Lorelei: “...”
Sird: “...”
August: “...”
With a nod from Lorelei, Jynx put them all to sleep with [Sweet Kiss].
Lorelei muttered, “That was way too over-the-top.”
What, were they trying to make us raid the base?
Sird shook her head, sighing. “The quality of Team Rocket personnel has really tanked. Back when I was in charge of Sevii Island, someone like that wouldn’t even make squad captain.”
She’d barely been gone, and Carr had already run the branch into the ground.
And now he wanted to be Rocket’s next boss?
If that ever happened... Team Rocket wouldn’t last the year.
“Enough talk. I’m guessing Carr’s trap is in that building.” August gestured toward a structure barely visible through the trees. “Let’s not keep him waiting.”
He stepped over the unconscious grunts and strode toward the building.
The moment August crossed into the base perimeter, a warning rang out: “This is private property!”
“Oh? I didn’t know Team Rocket held the deed to Five Island,” August replied.
Before the speaker could answer, Psyduck launched a burst of psychic energy, knocking a Golbat out of the air.
Then came the performance.
“So strong!”
“We can’t win!”
“Fall back to the base!”
One by one, the grunts retreated—leaving the door wide open for their “enemy.”
Lorelei and Sird exchanged glances.
“This... is even more ridiculous than I expected,” Lorelei muttered.
“What now? Do we go in?” she asked.
August grinned. “Of course. Why wouldn’t we?”
He still planned to wring everything he could out of Carr—especially anything on Deoxys or Giovanni.
With that, he stepped inside, Psyduck waddling at his side.
Behind him, Lorelei followed, eyes sharp. Sird brought up the rear, smiling like a tourist on a nostalgic trip back home.
