Pokémon: My Titles Know No Limits! [327]
Added 2025-05-17 06:15:01 +0000 UTCAs August grasped the Insect Plate in his hand, the system's prompt echoed through his mind.
[You have successfully pacified the “Forest King” Kleavor. Title unlocked: “Watched by the Divine (Part One)”]
Watched by the Divine…?
August looked up at the sky. He didn’t see anything, but—maybe it was just his imagination—it really felt like a pair of eyes were watching him from another dimension.
Suddenly, the [Plate] in his hand grew hot.
He glanced toward the rewards menu.
[1. Friend Voucher ×1]
[2. Azure Flute]
[3. Ancient Galaxy Team Uniform]
“Mr. August? Is something wrong with Kleavor?” Irida asked, watching him lapse into thought.
August came back to himself and shook his head. “No—it’s nothing. Just remembered something.”
He pulled out his phone. After pacifying Kleavor, his recharge bar had jumped up by 50%. Now he was only 20% away from being fully charged.
“I just realized I still have some things to take care of back home. I won’t keep you any longer.”
Better catch two more Alpha Pokémon and get out of Hisui while the getting’s good.
Without another word, he grabbed Gary—who was still eyeing Kleavor with scientific interest—and dragged him out of the Grandtree Arena.
Lian blinked. “That Mr. August is… a strange one.”
“Yeah,” Irida agreed. “But as long as the noble’s back to normal, that’s what matters.”
...
Of the three available rewards, August chose the first.
The other two? The [Azure Flute] was in Adaman’s hands, and what would Team Rocket want with Galaxy Team’s uniform anyway?
The Friend Voucher, on the other hand, was harder to come by. It took 100 “Hisui mileage” points to earn one. Pacifying Kleavor had only given him 50.
That meant two nobles—or ten Alpha Pokémon.
This time, August didn’t use the voucher immediately. He figured he’d wait until he was back in Kanto to see who wanted to come to Hisui next.
At this rate, August mused, I’m going to end up moving the entire Kanto branch to Hisui...
...
Back on the Obsidian Fieldlands, Gary trailed behind. “Why were you in such a rush? I still hadn’t finished analyzing Kleavor! That golden glow… if I could decode that, maybe I’d make a splash at the World Championships!”
He had already imagined himself basking in victory, Ash staring up in awe—only for August to drag him away mid-fantasy.
“I’m heading back to Kanto,” August said. “If you want to stay, be my guest.”
Gary dropped all interest in Kleavor instantly. “No no no, don’t leave me here—I’m coming with you!”
There was no way he was staying in Hisui alone.
Sure, the region had a wild, untouched beauty, but no internet, no cuisine worth mentioning, and—most importantly—no Ash. Life here would be excruciatingly dull.
“Then let’s go. One more Alpha capture and we’re out.”
August pulled out the annotated field notes Akari had given him, marking all known Alpha Pokémon locations in the Obsidian Fieldlands.
Then a familiar name caught his eye.
“Huh? Kricketune? You’ll do just fine.”
...
Beyond Grandtree Arena, past the riverbank, a grove near the Forest Retreat was home to a group of Kricketot.
Weak and small, Kricketot sat at the bottom of the food chain here. They were constantly bullied by Starly and Bibarel alike.
For the Kricketot, it was a dark, difficult time.
Every night, their mournful melodies filled the woods.
But one day—that all changed.
After being driven from their water source by Bibarel again, one brave Kricketot stood its ground.
Faced them and said, “No.”
And on that day, the light of evolution blazed.
On that day, the Bibarel fled in panic.
On that day, the entire Forest Retreat rang with the joyful music of Kricketot reborn.
...
“So... that’s why you don’t want me taking Kricketune away?”
August stared at the swarm of Kricketot standing firmly in his path.
All he wanted was to catch one Kricketune—and somehow, this had turned into a thing.
The Kricketot were practically in tears, looking at him as if losing Kricketune meant the end of their world.
August scratched his chin, feeling awkward. “Am I... the bad guy here?”
Behind him, Gary nodded solemnly. You’re not wrong.
“Did I ask you?” August shot back.
Gary jumped. What the—how did he know I was nodding?! I didn’t even speak!
August turned to glance at him. “Gengar is my eyes.”
From the shadow at his feet, Gengar chuckled darkly.
Returning his gaze to the fainted Alpha Kricketune on the ground, August declared, “Sorry, but I am catching this Kricketune.”
The Kricketot looked devastated. Their antennae trembled and clinked together in sorrowful harmony—it was enough to stir even the coldest heart.
“But…” August reached into his pocket and pulled out a pouch of Pokéblocks. “I’ll help you raise a new Kricketune hero.”
Pokéblocks, packed with nourishing ingredients, could hasten Pokémon evolution.
From a quick glance, August could already tell several of these Kricketot were on the verge of evolving—they just needed a nudge.
He wasn’t actually the villain here. He wasn’t about to doom a whole species.
With hesitant eyes, the Kricketot accepted the Pokéblocks.
Moments later, beams of evolution lit up the forest.
Newly evolved Kricketune chirped among them.
And once again, music filled the air—but this time, joyful and bright.
A farewell song for the Kricketune who had once protected them.
...
For August, helping the Kricketot was no big deal.
But for the Alpha Kricketune, it meant everything.
From its hollow belly came a beautiful trill—its way of expressing gratitude.
If you put it in numbers, its friendship level had already reached “friendly” the moment it was caught.
August caught it—and it was the one saying thanks.
He returned it to its Poké Ball.
Gary let out a sigh. “Wow. So gentle. I wish you’d treat me that well too...”
“Huh? I don’t treat you well?” August raised an eyebrow. “Do you get hands-on training from me every day?”
“...”
If you put it like that... it might be too much love.
“So who’s next?” Gary asked.
From what August said earlier, one more Alpha and they could head back to Kanto. He still had no idea how that worked, but he wasn’t asking.
August already had a target in mind.
His gaze locked onto a specific mark on the map.
“Next up—Snorlax.”
“An Alpha Snorlax?”
By now, Gary had learned a lot about Hisui.
He knew that Alpha Pokémon were always much larger than their regular counterparts.
And regular Snorlax was already massive.
So what would an Alpha Snorlax look like?
And how much would it eat?
“August, you already have a Salamence. If you add a Snorlax too, won’t the Kanto branch go bankrupt just feeding them?”
It sounded absurd, but Gary didn’t think he was exaggerating.
After all, most of their funds had already gone into HQ renovations, and August’s impulsive shopping sprees hadn’t helped either.
“Oh, right. Forgot to tell you—after the Mount Coronet incident, HQ increased our budget. About a 30% boost.”
“Then we’re fine!” Gary relaxed instantly.
Thirty percent more budget? Forget one Snorlax—even five wouldn’t be a problem!
As they spoke, they crossed a river and arrived on a wide plain near Lake Verity.
“We’re here,” August said.
Gary looked up.
In the distance, a hulking Snorlax was curled up and sleeping soundly.
Around it, a group of Pichu were playing, bouncing off its belly. Not even that disturbed its peaceful slumber.
“Did you bring a Poké Flute?” Gary asked.
“Nope.”
“Then how are we supposed to wake it up?”
Every Kanto native knew—once a Snorlax falls asleep, you need a Poké Flute to rouse it.
August smiled. “I don’t need a Poké Flute—I have my secret weapon.”
He pulled a box from his bag and shook out one of the last few special Pokéblocks he had.
The moment it dropped into his hand, Snorlax’s nose twitched.
August scraped a bit of powder into the wind. The scent drifted toward Snorlax’s resting spot.
In Gary’s view, the transformation was instant—Snorlax’s eyes snapped open.
It locked onto August’s hand, completely fixated on the Pokéblock.
“See? Easy.”
“…Easy, huh?” Gary muttered. “And what’s your plan for this thing?”
Even as a Champion, Gary felt a bit nervous. The way that Snorlax was staring at August’s hand made his skin crawl.
It looked hungry.
August just smiled. “What’s there to be scared of?”
He raised the Pokéblock and said, “Want it? Then come be my Pokémon.”
