The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [437]

“Jia Greenskin, I’m heading out to find that Schubert guy! If you’re still not awake, Paimon and I are leaving without you!”

Inside the Serenitea Pot, Lumine called out to the hangover-ridden Jia Changjiang. After waving a quick hello to Ayuan, who was hard at work tending the fields, she exited the teapot.

“Ah… mmgh…”

Jia Changjiang groaned, struggling to rise from bed. His head throbbed, his eyes burned—everything hurt.

“Water… I need… water…”

He half-dragged, half-crawled his way out of the room, his movements more corpse than man. Eventually, Tubby—who had been farming just outside the house—noticed his pitiful state and handed him a cup of water.

“You really overdid it last night, Master Jia,” Tubby said as Jia guzzled the drink.

“That was nothing,” Jia Changjiang replied after downing it, somewhat revived. “If I were drinking with Venti, I’d have had way more.”

He forced himself upright, wobbling but standing. “Where’s Lumine?”

“Lumine and little Paimon left the pot already,” Tubby said, hoisting a pickaxe onto her shoulder.

Originally brought here by Granny Ping to assist in constructing the teapot realm, Tubby had discovered something unexpected after spending time with Jia Changjiang:

Well, if I’m building things anyway, farming isn’t all that different from house construction, right?

And thanks to the strange laws of this place, crops grew absurdly fast.

Better yet—she could even grow the kind of wheat she liked to eat...

Which... had made her even rounder.

“They left, huh?” Jia Changjiang rubbed his temples. “Guess I should get moving too.”

“No idea where to even start looking for this Schubert guy…”

With that, he stepped out of the Serenitea Pot.

Once outside, he landed nimbly, glancing around. He was already back on the streets of Mondstadt.

“Alright…”

He straightened his clothes, muttering to himself: “First order of business…”

“Find somewhere to take a damn bath. I reek of booze…”

...

“So that’s why you barged into the Knights’ dorms to use the bath?” Kaeya stood at the door, listening to the sound of running water inside.

“What else was I supposed to do? Show up reeking of alcohol to meet this Schubert guy?”

Jia Changjiang emerged from the Knight Order’s bath wrapped in a towel, freshly washed.

“If this old noble really is some uptight etiquette freak, even if I dressed the part, one whiff of alcohol and he’d turn his nose up.”

“This is all for the mission, y’know?”

He gave Kaeya a sideways look. “Hold on. Aren’t you the one who’s supposed to be the master of etiquette?”

“Why didn’t the Knights send you to gather intel?”

“Well, I am kind of famous in Mondstadt,” Kaeya said, hands raised in mock defeat. “If the Captain of the Cavalry tried to approach the old nobility, they’d be on high alert before I even opened my mouth.”

“And Lumine and I aren’t famous?” Jia rubbed his head with Kaeya’s towel. “We literally fought Stormterror above Mondstadt. We’re Honorary Knights. We were the Stars of the Windblume Festival!”

“You think Schubert wouldn’t recognize us?”

“That’s not a given.” Kaeya shrugged. “He’s the textbook definition of an old aristocrat…”

“He probably doesn’t care to know anything about the Knights. Might not even know who you are.”

Jia Changjiang paused mid-dry. “That’s just… sad.”

“Is clinging to the past really that important?” he asked, glancing at Kaeya.

Kaeya kept his usual smile. “How would I know?”

“I don’t think it’s important… but my opinion doesn’t count for much.”

Jia tossed the towel aside. “Pathetic. The pioneers of Mondstadt’s future—and look at what their descendants have become.”

“You planning to convince this Schubert guy?” Kaeya raised an eyebrow. “Forget it. He’s more stubborn than you think.”

“I’m not obligated.”

Jia Changjiang replied coldly, “I’m not interested, and it’s not my duty to ‘set him straight.’ That’s not my job.”

“The Lawrence family won’t change unless they wake up themselves—no one can do it for them.”

“The Anemo Archon’s already been merciful enough—at least they’re still allowed to exist in Mondstadt.”

“You’re not wrong… So, you’re really going to track him down and gather intel?”

Kaeya looked him over.

“Damn right I am!”

Jia yanked off the towel and tossed it aside.

“I want to see for myself what kind of descendant this Lawrence family has bred!!!”

Meanwhile, Lumine was by the city walls, searching for the so-called Schubert.

“Traveler, are you sure this guy won’t recognize us?” Paimon asked, worried.

“Paimon, Paimon, you poor thing—clearly you know nothing about disguise!” Lumine said with smug confidence.

“You think we went shopping for new outfits and changed our hairstyles just for fun?”

“You think only anime characters can become unrecognizable by switching hair and clothes?” she said proudly. “Wrong!

“Humans are actually terrible at recognizing people they don’t know well—switch the hair and outfit, and boom, total stranger.”

Lumine’s reasoning left Paimon blinking, but she nodded along anyway.

Not long after…

The two spotted a man pacing suspiciously near the city wall.

He had a thin mustache and wore a clearly custom-tailored outfit.

“You must be Schubert?”

Lumine approached casually, all the while trying to figure out the best angle to coax information out of him.

“Hm?”

Schubert turned toward the voice, initially ready to scold whoever dared to speak to him in such an insolent tone—but the moment he laid eyes on Lumine, who looked every bit the part of a noblewoman, he hesitated.

Still, his eyes narrowed.

He’d never seen this woman in Mondstadt’s noble circles. If she were a noble from another nation… well, even nobles from abroad were nothing more than barbarians—like the Fatui.

“How dare you so casually call out a noble’s name?”

“An ignorant foreigner, are you? Don’t even recognize me? I am Schubert Lawrence—a true noble by blood!”

“If you wish to address me, mind your language. Sloppy, careless words like that are beneath the dignity of nobility!”

His posture exuded arrogance.

“If you’ve understood me, then you ought to kneel on one knee and formally present yourself—name and apology included! That is the proper etiquette!”

“…Tch.”

Lumine took a long, deep breath.

What a punchable bastard… but we need intel…

To hell with that!

“You think you deserve me kneeling to you?!”

She cracked her knuckles. “You wanna get your ass beat?!”
