Blue-Eyes White Dragon: Adopted by the King of Knights [47]
Added 2025-06-07 06:12:59 +0000 UTC“Infiltrate the lair. Gather intelligence.”
It sounded easy when spoken aloud. But in reality, it was anything but.
Their enemy wasn’t some mediocre warlord or backwoods tribal chief. He was the infamous Lesser King, the man who had ruled this island with iron will and terrifying power for over a decade. Even if the Britons reviled him for inviting foreign invaders to secure his victory, they could not deny one truth:
He was a foe too strong to face head-on.
If he weren’t, then King Uther would never have created Artoria—the “Red Dragon wearing human skin”—for the express purpose of countering the White Dragon King.
“If we send ordinary scouts, they’ll be torn apart by Vortigen’s power before they even reach the city.”
“A decoy attack to draw his attention, followed by a covert strike team to slip into the capital… that might work. But whoever leads the charge and maps out the infiltration route has to be chosen very carefully.”
Artoria furrowed her brows in frustration.
She wanted a perfect plan. One that could uncover the truth about Vortigen’s condition while minimizing—or ideally, avoiding—any casualties.
But Morgan waved her off with a snort.
“You’re overthinking it.”
“Just ask Merlin.”
“That bastard knows everything—he just won’t say a word unless you ask first!”
The Red Dragon Princess, though technically reconciled with the court magus, still couldn’t hide the deep loathing in her voice. She spoke of Merlin the way one might talk about trash being left out in the sun.
…
Artoria found Merlin inside Bluey’s divine sanctuary.
Apparently, the magus had once again provoked some noblewoman and was now hiding in this secret realm—one that normal people couldn’t even perceive—to avoid consequences.
To be fair, Bluey didn’t particularly like having Merlin around.
But for the sake of the little white beast Merlin had brought with him, Bluey begrudgingly opened the gates of his domain.
“Fou~!”
It was a rather amusing sight.
On one side: a small, snowy creature—just thirty to forty centimeters long, not counting the tail.
On the other: a titanic dragon, a living mountain.
The contrast between these two “beasts” couldn’t have been sharper—yet somehow, they got along absurdly well.
“They seem to get along, don’t they?”
Artoria arrived just in time to see Bluey flick the little creature high into the air with his tail, only to let it slide down his back like a playground slide.
She blinked, mildly astonished by Bluey’s childish side—but then again, he was barely three years old. It was easy to forget his age when his body was the size of a fortress.
“Yeah… I really hope they stay this way forever.”
Merlin smiled, uttering words that—at least for now—Artoria couldn’t begin to comprehend.
And inevitably, the conversation turned to Vortigen… and Morgan’s less-than-kind assessment of the magus.
“I’ve been wronged!”
Merlin wailed dramatically, pulling the most pitiful expression imaginable—like he’d just been falsely accused of treason.
“I didn’t tell you things because I can’t interfere in mortal politics, not because I was hiding them! Honest!”
“Buuut—when it comes to the White Dragon King… well, I suppose I can make an exception~”
He winked, his face shifting in a heartbeat from woe to mischief.
—And that was exactly why Morgan despised him.
Deception.
From head to toe, the man was made of nothing else.
As a half-human, half-nightmare entity, every emotion he displayed was a mask. Or more accurately, they were the products of keen observation—rehearsed performances based on when and how humans were supposed to react.
…
The magus who knew everything finally decided to share the story of the White Dragon King.
But where to begin?
“We’ve got time. Let’s start from the beginning.”
Back then, Vortigen wasn’t yet the White Dragon King. He was just a minor chieftain—a warrior somewhat stronger than average.
Much like Artoria in her early days, fighting from that little mountain village… this man, now scorned by all of Britain, had once lived a life that could be called legendary.
“He was a man who burned like fire—pure, relentless conquest.”
“Under his leadership, his tribe grew rapidly and became one of the strongest in the land.”
“But his ways—well, let’s be honest, he was raiding everyone—made him hated and feared by the other lords.”
“So, with their backing, your father led a grand campaign against him. A ‘righteous crusade’ of sorts.”
It was one of Uther’s most famous victories.
After defeating Vortigen, Uther was hailed as the leader of all Britain—at least in name—and became the high king among the scattered rulers.
“But Vortigen didn’t die in that battle.”
“Even though he lost—his tribe shattered, his lands stripped away—he survived. He clung to life, fueled by rage and the fire of vengeance.”
“With his kingdom destroyed and no chance of winning through force, he turned to the arcane.”
“He began searching for mystery—for power beyond the mortal world.”
“And after a long, grueling journey… he succeeded. He found the greatest miracle still slumbering on this island.”
Merlin paused there, letting the silence settle.
He glanced around, pleased to find everyone’s attention fully fixed on him—hanging on his every word.
Only then did he smile and speak the name that mattered—not just to Vortigen, not just to Britain, but to the entire world:
“Albion.”
“The name of a dragon. The last true dragon of the Age of Gods—who, having failed to return to the reverse side of the world in time, perished here on the surface.”
“—Apologies, Lord Bluey. You didn’t exist back then.”
“Somehow—no one knows how—Vortigen found the corpse of the Dragon Albion.”
“And he stole the power that still lingered in its bones.”
“When he returned, he was no longer a chieftain.”
“He was the White Dragon King.”

T/N: apparently melusine is made out of JUST the left hand of albion... how strong is albion is he the strongest dragon...? or is it typhon
