I’m Doomed! I Got Trapped in a Dream! [19]

At that moment, Chen Mo was teaching Furina how to use the Statue of The Seven’s menu to teleport:

“Tap this, then scroll down—see the ‘Teleport’ option? Yeah, that one, go ahead and click it.”

Furina followed his instructions and tapped the [Teleport] button. The screen changed to the world map.

“Oh—so that’s how it works! …Ahem, and then?”

“Now just slide the map left like this—yep, that’s it—tilt it toward Mondstadt, and click on that teleport waypoint.”

“Mondstadt?” Furina paused, hesitating. “Isn’t the Dendro Archon supposed to be in Sumeru? Why are we going to Mondstadt?”

“Well, that’s exactly the point! If she’s already left her own nation to go sightseeing in Mondstadt, what reason do you have not to?”

Furina nodded quickly, without arguing. Her long twin tails swayed behind her with each nod.

“Now tap that teleport waypoint—see the teleport button? Press it!”

“Oh, this one? …Wah!” Furina let out a startled yelp as the teleport light engulfed her. She hadn’t even finished her exclamation before she vanished. A moment later, she reappeared in Mondstadt’s fountain plaza.

“So this is Mondstadt? Hmm… so this is what it looks like inside the city…”

As the teleport light faded, Furina looked around, curiosity lighting up her expression.

Just as she’d said before, for an Archon to leave their nation without warning—even to visit another friendly one—was no small matter. Unless Teyvat was facing a global calamity, it would stir unnecessary trouble. That’s why, in the past 500 years, she had almost never left Fontaine.

And just like the dreamlike Fontaine Court she’d seen when first entering this world, this Mondstadt was smaller than its real counterpart, but the architectural style was preserved flawlessly.

“Hmm… this style of architecture… I can see it. Living here would be so relaxing~”

Standing beside the teleport waypoint, Furina leaned over the railing to look down. Below her were the plaza, fountains, pigeons, fluttering banners, strolling crowds, flowers and grass, staircases, and the distant city gates of Mondstadt. It all gave off a vibrant, joyful energy—so unlike the vertical, imposing skyline of Fontaine’s layered city.

However, no matter how far her eyes wandered, she couldn’t ignore the two Fatui skirmishers standing right next to the teleport waypoint.

They stood there, out in the open in the middle of Mondstadt’s plaza, utterly conspicuous. Even worse, every now and then, a chat bubble popped above their heads as if they wanted to be seen slacking off.

Furina leaned in slightly, curious to eavesdrop.

“Hey, did you hear? There’s a weird guy roaming around Wolvendom.”

Wolvendom… that must be a Mondstadt location. Doesn’t ring a bell. So, someone strange is wandering that area? Who is he? Where’s he from? Why’s he there?

“Hey, did you hear? There’s a weird guy roaming around Wolvendom.”

Furina: “?”

“Quit eavesdropping. That’s literally all they say. You could listen all day and they wouldn’t say another word. That ‘weird guy’ they’re talking about is Razor. If you follow me and progress the quest, you’ll meet him.”

Just as Furina’s figure disappeared into the teleport, Chen Mo had also warped over from Fontaine. The first thing he saw was her crouched beside two idle NPCs, trying to listen in on their conversation—it was such a ridiculous sight he couldn’t help laughing.

“‘Progress the quest’… oh, you mean push the storyline?” Even after centuries of opera, it was Furina’s first time hearing someone abbreviate “progressing the storyline” to push quest.

“I did tell you, didn’t I? Everyone in this world is just like clockwork—repeating the same actions and lines over and over.”

“NPCs are NPCs, okay? It’s not like I don’t understand the term… But don’t go insulting clockwork mechanisms—they’re way smarter than this. Don’t underestimate Fontaine tech!” Furina puffed up a bit, mildly offended by the comparison.

“Hey, did you hear? There’s a weird guy roaming around Wolvendom.”

Meanwhile, over by the Good Hunter near the fountain, Nahida—who was currently going over an NPC dialogue box with Keqing—heard Chen Mo’s voice and waved toward the platform above.

Chen Mo waved back, then jumped down to join them.

“Haha, mission complete. I’ve returned safe and sound—with Fontaine’s Hydro Archon in tow.”

Then he turned toward the top of the platform and called out, “Come on down, Furina! Don’t be scared—if you die from the fall, the Statue of The Seven will revive you. I mean, your Surintendante Chevalmarin already trampled me to death earlier, right?”

“Ugh…” Furina had been debating whether or not to jump, but after hearing that, she was even less inclined to try.

The point isn’t that I can revive, okay? The point is—I don’t want to know what it feels like to die from falling!

Instead of leaping like Chen Mo, she carefully climbed over the railing and shuffled downward step by step. Only when she was about a meter off the ground did she finally let go of the railing and land safely on the grass.

Lifting the long train of her gown, she daintily hopped over the fountain’s little water basin and jogged toward the restaurant.

But after a few steps, she stopped again.

Looking at the two people standing beside Chen Mo, she easily recognized the short one with a hint of green in her hair—clearly the Dendro Archon.

She hesitated. Would the Archon see through her?

But after a moment’s thought, she gathered herself, smiled with confidence, and walked right up to the pair.

“A pleasure to meet you both. Though we hail from different nations, we now find ourselves in this dreamworld together—what a curious twist of fate.”

“Greetings, Lady Hydro Archon. I am Keqing, the Yuheng of Liyue’s Qixing.” Keqing greeted her with a simplified version of Liyue’s formal etiquette.

“And I’m Nahida,” the little Archon added with a gentle smile. “As Chen Mo said earlier, I’m the mortal vessel of Sumeru’s God of Wisdom. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Lady Focalors.”

“Just call me Furina… But actually—” She turned to Chen Mo, “Why did you gather us all here like this? Is something going on?”

“Ah?” Chen Mo froze for a second, caught off guard. Truthfully, he hadn’t gathered them with any specific goal in mind. He’d simply gone with the flow.

“Um… I just figured it’d be nice for everyone to meet. Maybe enjoy some food together, farm mobs, push some quests—y’know, hang out. Didn’t you say earlier that in the real world, it’s a huge ordeal for Archons to leave their nations? Takes all kinds of logistics, diplomacy, paperwork—drains everyone’s resources… I mean, you all probably can’t even see each other for hundreds of years, right?”

As he said this, Chen Mo glanced over at Nahida.

Right. She hadn’t seen anyone for five centuries—not while locked up like that…

That realization seemed to flick a switch in him. His tone suddenly grew more animated, as if he’d just found a solid reason for everything he’d done.

“That’s why! It does matter! It’s meaningful to bring you all together! You’ve all ended up in this same dream—who knows if you’ll ever be able to return here once you wake up? If you don’t at least meet and talk now, that’d be such a waste!”
