Blue-Eyes White Dragon: Adopted by the King of Knights [65]
Added 2025-06-14 09:32:22 +0000 UTC[Beast].
The full title is “Beast of Original Sin,” also called Humanity’s Evil. These are calamities that threaten humanity’s existence—cataclysms capable of destroying all of human history.
There are seven deadly sins, and so there are seven Beasts of Original Sin—but their identities are never fixed, and the “principles” they embody are never quite the same.
Take Bluey, for example.
As a god, he had created a paradise for the people of Britain—a land where they could escape the agony of struggling through the world’s end.
But, seen from the perspective of the entire planet, and the whole of human history, such a deed could only be called “rebelling against the order of the world”—a crime that could never be forgiven.
“Even if it’s just a tiny island at the farthest edge of the world, surrounded by sea, it’s destined for a glorious future.”
Bluey spoke quietly.
The Hundred Years’ War, the Glorious Revolution, constitutional monarchy, the Empire on which the sun never sets… In the history of humanity, this little island would one day carry an immense weight—so much so that it had to exist.
Yet Bluey’s actions, right now, had all but cut off that future, and directly affected the course of human history.
“But you don’t need to blame yourself.”
“The way I’ve become… it actually doesn’t have much to do with you.”
“Just as you were destined to become King, I was destined to become a Beast. The only difference you made was in which principle I would bear.”
Staring at Artoria, whose face had gone deathly pale, Bluey spoke the truth he and Merlin had both known all along:
He was a god born at the twilight of the Age of Gods.
He never should have existed in this era; there was nothing in this world left for his kind.
And so, only two outcomes awaited him:
Either he would perish as a child, for lack of nourishment—
Or, after struggling through countless hardships and finally becoming a true god, he would realize, with bitter sorrow, that there was no longer any place for him in this world.
“So-called gods are really just extensions of the planet’s will. In the age when humans were weak, gods were meant to nurture and guide them.”
“But as humans approached a new age, the gods never returned to slumber. Instead, they lingered on the surface of the world, still holding humanity back.”
“It’s like a cradle… A tiny baby needs a cradle, of course. But when that baby grows into a child, the cradle becomes a cage, preventing them from exploring the world beyond.”
“At that point, those gods—become Beasts, obstacles that humanity must overcome.”
Merlin added in a quiet voice, explaining what Bluey left unsaid—or perhaps never intended to explain at all.
And as for Bluey, fallen as he was, standing here unscathed and chatting with Artoria as if nothing had happened?
“That’s why I said, in the matter of raising others, you may have surpassed even me.”
“The ending was always decided, but the process still matters… A Beast bearing the Principle of Sublimity is a far kinder opponent than any of those other monsters.”
Merlin smiled at Artoria, a praise given sincerely from the heart.
It was like a multi-ending visual novel game… The endings might all be bad, but even among bad endings, there’s a difference in how much worse things can get, right?
Besides, the situation, while dire, was far from truly hopeless.
“It’s just a Beast, that’s all.”
“If it were anyone else, it might be a challenge… But for a King who was destined to save Britain, this is nothing more than a minor annoyance, isn’t it?”
—This time, it was Bluey who spoke, not Merlin.
Just as he’d told Agravain: when faced with hardship, don’t shoulder everything alone. Give this King more trust—believe that she will find a way to resolve it, and carve out that theoretical Happy Ending.
“Honestly.”
Hearing Bluey’s encouraging words, Artoria—now knowing the full truth—finally started to recover from her shock and confusion.
“You two really have the nerve. Entrusting the whole world’s salvation to a girl like me…”
“You never thought for a second, did you, what if I just break under the pressure and walk away from it all?”
She shook her head, lips curled into a wry, yet unmistakably genuine smile.
“Ahem—correction, Lily. You’re already thirty years old. Not exactly a ‘little girl’ anymore.”
“…You’re going to get kicked into the lake by a crowd of noblewomen, Merlin!”
“Fou (I can help with that)!”

The next morning, at dawn.
As the sky lightened, Mash awoke.
When she opened her eyes, she instinctively pressed a hand to her chest and took a few deep breaths—only when she felt no pain or weakness did she realize: She wasn’t in the sterile isolation chamber anymore. Her frail body really had been healed, completely.
This feels amazing…
The purple-haired girl muttered softly in her heart, quietly slipping out of bed and heading for the dining hall.
…
The dining room was already crowded; she seemed to be the last to arrive.
But the atmosphere was strange.
The summoned Heroic Spirit knights from the Throne of Heroes glanced around at each other, wanting to speak, but no one willing to start.
Meanwhile, the “real world” Round Table knights kept their eyes on the floor—or turned away, pretending to admire the scenery outside—every expression saying, “This is too much, I can’t bear to look.”
At the head of the table, Artoria and Morgan—half-sisters—sat with utterly opposite expressions: one beaming like a flower, the other icy cold, their contrast sharp and clear.
“Um, what’s going on?”
Still not sure what was happening, Mash hurried to hide behind the only person she really knew—Bluey—and whispered her question.
“Oh, it’s nothing.”
Bluey set a glass of milk in front of Mash, looking quite pleased.
“Last night, Artoria came up with a brilliant idea: the Heroic Spirit knights and the real-world knights will form teams and compete in a grand tournament.”
“But since a King shouldn’t be participating directly, she gave her spot to Morgan.”
“Not counting you, there are six Heroic Spirit knights and six real-world knights—just right for two-person teams.”
“Only the strongest of the Round Table knights will have the right to team up with Morgan-sama—those were the King’s exact words.”
“Right now, all the knights are gearing up for a cutthroat competition… to ‘win’ the right to partner with Morgan-sama!”
