Pokémon: My Titles Know No Limits! [398]
Added 2025-06-15 08:37:18 +0000 UTCAugust didn’t even need to hear Volo say it to know exactly who this so-called “senior” was.
If Volo was calling someone a senior, it could only be Cogita. No one else fit the bill.
And in August’s view, meeting Cogita was basically on par with meeting Arceus themself.
But from his perspective, every word out of Volo’s mouth just turned into:
August, I’m here to deliver a message from the llama!
So, without the slightest hesitation, August escorted Volo out the door—leaving him blinking in confusion—and then firmly shut the Rocket Team branch’s doors behind him.
Volo stared at the tightly closed entrance.
“…What is even happening?”
Is this for real? If you don’t want to go, just say so. Did he really need to shove me out the door?
Was that necessary?
He was left standing there, baffled and more than a little annoyed.
Well, whatever. The important thing was to pass the message on to Cogita…
…
August turned to Zinnia, who was peeking through the door crack. “Is he gone?”
“He’s gone!” Zinnia reported.
August finally let out a breath.
Zinnia had never seen him like this and couldn’t help but ask, “Didn’t you already pay off your debts? Why the face…?”
August shook his head. “You just don’t get it…”
If only it were as simple as owing money.
The llama was a thousand times scarier than a million Pokédollars worth of fireworks!
After pacing a few laps, August made his decision. “We’re heading straight out to calm Avalugg—then we go home!”
Promises made, promises kept. That’s how August does things.
So once Avalugg was dealt with, he’d be heading back to Alola—no hesitation.
“Home?!”
Everyone in the room looked at August.
Sabrina and Lillie took it in stride. For them, this was just a short trip.
But Zinnia blurted out, “Really? Everyone’s going back?”
“Of course.” August scooped up Mew, who was still cuddled up with Eevee and snacks, binge-watching TV.
“Yes!” Zinnia’s face split into a grin.
Finally, back to the modern world! Only Arceus knows what I’ve been putting up with here!
But August had no time to worry about her. Once ready, he went straight to Galaxy Team headquarters and found Irida, who was with Akari.
“I’m heading out to pacify Avalugg. Want to come with?”
“Avalugg? Right now?”
It was nearly evening; darkness would fall soon.
“Of course—right now.”
Irida had no idea why August was in such a rush.
But if August said so, and Avalugg was her Pearl Clan’s noble after all, Irida could only sigh in resignation. “I’ll go with you, then!”
She stood up.
August glanced at the somewhat dazed Akari beside her, thought for a second, then handed her a standard Kanto-division smartphone.
Before Akari could ask, August released Salamence and took off for the Icepeak Arena in the Alabaster Icelands, Irida at his side.
“Too fast! Ahhh!”
Irida’s scream echoed through the air.
Akari stared blankly at the phone in her hands, not sure what August meant by giving it to her.
Well, if Mr. August gave it to me, it must be… a gift?
She carefully tucked it away.
...
Meanwhile, Salamence—spurred by the promise of a gourmet reward—was flying at nearly double speed, reaching the Icepeak Arena in record time.
Touching down, August was immediately struck by the biting chill in the air.
Irida, on the other hand, looked right at home—she actually cheered.
“Finally, I can breathe again! This is where I belong!”
She scooped up a handful of snow and nuzzled her face into the flakes.
“Raaawr~!”
Salamence called out to August.
“Don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten your reward. You’ll get it when we’re back!” August assured him—he wasn’t about to skimp on Salamence’s prize.
He returned Salamence to its Poké Ball.
August gazed across the snowy expanse toward the Icepeak Arena.
There stood a shirtless man with light blue hair styled into a Sneasel-like mohawk.
Gaeric… the master of the Icepeak Arena!
“Master Gaeric!”
Irida waved enthusiastically.
Spotting them, Gaeric strode over. “Irida! What brings you here—and this is…?”
“This is August, he’s—”
“No need for the introductions,” August cut in. “I’m here on Commander Kamado’s request to calm Avalugg.”
“I’ve heard about you, but…”
Before Gaeric could finish, a deep roar rang out in the distance.
A golden light enveloped Avalugg as it locked eyes with August. Gaeric fell silent—Avalugg had already chosen its challenger.
This was Avalugg’s will.
August met its gaze. And then, in Irida’s stunned silence, a golden light split the sky. In the next instant, Avalugg was wrapped in a mass of crystals—before they shattered with a bang.
An Avalugg with a crown of golden snowflakes now stood before August.
“This is…” Irida stared, wide-eyed.
She’d seen nobles before, and even frenzied ones—she’d followed August through two—but she’d never seen a transformation like this.
“It’s [Terastallization],” August explained.
Honestly, even he found it ridiculous. He’d figured the llama might pull something after the [Z-Move] Electrode incident, but this was a whole new level.
[Terastallization]… even I only just learned how to use it myself.
Staring at the Tera Avalugg, August paused for just a moment before choosing his Pokémon.
“Go, Mewtwo!”
He didn’t have anything with a type advantage over Avalugg, so he simply sent out Mewtwo.
Whoosh!
Mewtwo appeared in the whirling snow, spoon in hand, pointing straight at Avalugg.
Right then, August gave Mewtwo a cue.
He rolled up his sleeve, revealing the [Key Stone] on his wrist. Light flashed across the battlefield, and Mega Mewtwo Y appeared.
Hovering midair, spoon gripped in its massive psychic hand, Mega Mewtwo Y cut an almost comical figure—
—but the psychic pressure it radiated was anything but funny.
Moments earlier, Avalugg had been exuding pure menace. Now, faced with Mega Mewtwo Y, it was trembling all over.
It could feel the terrifying force of that psychic energy.
And Special Defense was its biggest weakness!
Just as Avalugg hesitated, caught between fight and surrender, August lobbed a huge handful of balms to Mewtwo.
Guided by Mewtwo’s psychic power, the balms hovered in a menacing ring around its body, making Avalugg’s skin crawl.
Then—before Avalugg could surrender—a rain of balms pelted it from all directions.
BOOM!
The balms exploded against its hide, their golden glow fading.
Mewtwo’s hand formed a [Shadow Ball], which he hurled straight at Avalugg…
