Pokémon: My Titles Know No Limits! [401]

Palkia and Dialga exchanged glances.

A single look was enough—they confirmed that what they'd just witnessed wasn't a nightmare, but a memory of something that truly happened in the past!

Palkia suddenly felt a wave of sorrow.

Not only had it been captured, it got beaten up too—where was the justice in that?

But there were more pressing concerns.

Namely, how to avoid getting beaten again!

Go to Hisui! I have to get to Hisui and stop my past self from provoking August!

But that segment of Hisui's time-space belonged to the boss. Unless the boss himself intervened, even Dialga couldn’t cross into that particular timeline.

Just as Palkia was racking its brain for a solution, the manor gates suddenly swung open.

Everyone turned to look.

Gary Oak strode in through the door, exuding the swagger of someone who owed nothing to anyone.

"Gary-senpai? You—"

Yellow wanted to ask why Gary was back, but didn’t get the chance. Gary wore a look of mock surprise and said:

"Yellow, how did you know I caught Suicune?"

Gary-senpai… caught Suicune?

Yellow froze at his words.

"Gary-senpai, did you really catch Suicune?" Diamond immediately chimed in, sidling up to him.

If that was true, then Gary would be the second person in the Kanto division—after August—to capture a mythical Pokémon!

Seeing everyone’s astonished faces, Gary waved a hand modestly. "Honestly, it was just luck. Suicune accepted me, that's all."

The way he caught Suicune was probably hard to believe.

Back when August muted him, Gary had actually planned to go straight to Alola and confront August about it—did Kanto branch not have freedom of speech anymore?

But after hearing that August had gone to Hisui, he temporarily put that plan aside.

He ended up wandering the forests of Johto, training his Larvitar.

Who could have guessed—just like that, he stumbled across a band of poachers.

Gary was shocked anyone would dare poach Pokémon in Kanto, and, fired up, he tailed the poachers, planning to catch them in the act and report back to August for some well-earned credit.

Then he discovered the Pokémon they were after was none other than Suicune—the very Pokémon he'd been searching for all this time!

What happened after that… well, he’d promised Suicune not to tell anyone, so let’s skip the details.

The point is:

He, Gary Oak, Kanto (League) Champion, earned Suicune’s recognition and succeeded in catching it!

Hearing Gary’s story, Pearl and Diamond were full of envy.

This was Suicune, one of the legendary Beasts!

After thoroughly basking in his own glory, Gary finally remembered what everyone had been doing when he came in.

"Right, what were you guys talking about just now?"

Thanks to the [Power of Viridian], Yellow could hear Dialga and Palkia’s voices. "Dialga and Palkia want to go to Hisui to see what happened. We were just trying to figure out how to contact August-nii."

Gary thumped his chest. "Leave it to me!"

August had given him an app before—he said that anyone who had ever received a 'friend voucher' invitation could use it to contact him, across time and space.

[Gary Oak]: August, Yellow, Pearl, and Diamond want to go to Hisui!

He deliberately didn’t mention Suicune. That was something to brag about in person!

August must have been busy on the other end—it took a while for him to reply.

The response was a single word.

[GardevoirSupremacy]: Okay

The next second, a huge golden spatial rift opened up beneath their feet.

As they fell, Yellow hurried to recall Dialga and Palkia into their Poké Balls, just as August had taught her.

And then, the golden rift swallowed them whole.

Hearing the commotion, the ever-curious Indeedee dashed out to the lawn—only to find it empty and completely baffling.

What just happened? Where did everyone go?

---

Hisui.

August put away his phone.

He stood before Origin Dialga and Origin Palkia.

By now, Dialga, after Mewtwo’s massive memory restoration, had recognized its mistakes. It lay on the ground obediently, watched over by a smug Mew and a bored Celebi.

Only Palkia still refused to submit.

ROAR!

From Palkia’s perspective, August only won by sheer numbers. If he really had what it took, he should fight one-on-one!

Palkia’s challenge was answered by a fist—Rayquaza’s fist.

Dialga watched the show from the sidelines, thoroughly enjoying the spectacle. With its memories restored, it had no intention of helping Palkia. Now, all it wanted was to see the drama unfold.

At that moment—

A huge rift tore open in the sky.

Accompanied by the shrieks of Yellow, Pearl, and Diamond, Gary and the others came tumbling out of the sky.

It wasn’t Gary’s first time time-traveling to Hisui. He expertly released his Pidgeot midair to catch himself and the three others, landing gracefully, and even found time to fix his hair.

"The one and only Gary Oak is back in Hisui!"

But this time was different from all his previous visits. Usually, he arrived in Jubilife Village… wait—why wasn’t there a sun in the sky?

That’s when Gary realized something was off.

Shouldn’t he have landed in Jubilife? What was with these broken pillars everywhere? They looked just like the Spear Pillars—before August destroyed them. And who were those unfamiliar faces near Blue and the others in the distance?

Then, as Gary turned to look for August—

He witnessed a scene that made his pupils contract with shock.

Mewtwo and Darkrai were pinning down a strangely distorted Palkia, while Rayquaza hammered away at its head with sandbag-sized fists. Off to the side, Gardevoir was enthusiastically tossing… who knows what… at Palkia.

"This is way too violent!" Gary muttered under his breath.

August’s gentle voice came from nearby. "What are you mumbling about?"

Gary jumped. "N-nothing! I mean, I’m sure you have your reasons for doing this, August!"

"But…" Gary eyed the Origin Dialga and Palkia. "Didn’t you already capture Dialga and Palkia?"

"Yes, but those are the Dialga and Palkia from my timeline," August replied.

"So you mean…"

"That’s right. These are the Dialga and Palkia from the Hisui era." August sighed, spreading his hands. "They triggered the temporal shift, and now I have to restore Hisui to its proper state. But Palkia just refuses to reconcile with me. It’s a headache!"

As August finished speaking, the two Poké Balls in Yellow’s arms trembled.

The next moment—

BANG!

Twin flashes of white light: Dialga and Palkia appeared on the field.

Their arrival drew everyone’s attention.

At the back, Cogita’s lips curled up, looking entirely unsurprised by Dialga and Palkia’s appearance.

Lusamine silently took note of Wu Si’s expression.

Irida’s eyes widened. "Two Sinnoh Lords—no, Palkia!"

Arezu was equally shocked. "Two Dialga?!"

The two exchanged glances, each seeing the same astonishment in the other’s eyes. So, there was more than one Dialga and Palkia?

Volo was floored.

Before meeting August, his original plan had been to use Giratina’s power to provoke a fight between Dialga and Palkia.

But seeing two Dialga and two Palkia right in front of him…

If Giratina showed up now, it would probably get dogpiled instantly!

The newly arrived Dialga and Palkia paid no attention to the humans; their eyes locked onto their origin counterparts.

While everyone was still reeling from shock—

Four Pokémon. Eight eyes met. Dialga and Palkia stared at their past/future selves—the atmosphere tense and strange.

Especially the Origin Palkia, still struggling, stared at "itself" standing behind August, utterly shaken.

It was certain its past self had never met August.

There was only one possibility: the Palkia behind August was its future self!

Its future self would be captured by August?

The thought struck Palkia as utterly absurd.

Origin Dialga, on the other hand, with its ability to see through time, had already braced itself for this and, without hesitation, moved to stand at August’s side.

The situation was crystal clear now.

Three versus one—no, ten versus one!

In the end, Palkia finally gave up resisting—persuaded by the collective “encouragement” of the other Legendary Pokémon.

It wasn’t that it was admitting defeat. It was just that, after seeing its future self already captured by August, any resistance suddenly felt meaningless.

We’ll all be on the same side eventually—what’s the point of fighting among ourselves?

Absolutely not admitting defeat. Not at all.

After Palkia and Dialga reached an understanding, the other two activated their powers at the same time, restoring the skies over Hisui to normal and stabilizing the region’s time-space once more.

Once that was done—

A prompt popped up in August’s mind.

[Congratulations! You have quelled Origin Dialga and Origin Palkia, completed the final trial, and resolved the Hisui crisis. You have earned the title “Savior of Hisui.”]

August: “?”

Wait, what do you mean by that, system?

But that wasn’t even the most troublesome thing right now. Just as August finished pacifying Dialga and Palkia, Cogita stepped forward.

“August, thank you for saving Hisui!”

August: “.....”

Coming from you, that’s not convincing at all.

Even if this “crisis” wasn’t directly your doing, it was definitely related to your true form!

Still, August knew better than to expose Cogita, so he played along. “You’re welcome. Just doing my job.”

As he was thinking about how to get away from Cogita, she suddenly broke into a bright smile, skipping the formalities.

“I’ve been here long enough. I’d like to see more of the outside world. August, would your Kanto division be willing to welcome me?”

She even put extra emphasis on “Kanto division.”

She’s really killing me here…

At this point, August had the distinct feeling that if he said no, he’d trigger some kind of Arceus-level boss fight.

Seeing him nod, Cogita’s face immediately lit up with joy. “Remember to pick option 1~”

August, who had long given up resisting, just let it go.

Once Cogita left, August reassured Gardevoir, who was still eyeing Cogita warily.

He looked again at Origin Dialga and Origin Palkia and simply waved them off. “Go on—this world still needs you two to keep things in order.”

August didn’t capture them.

For one, he’d already caught his own Dialga and Palkia. And with all the chaos he’d stirred up in Hisui, the future was already profoundly altered. If Dialga and Palkia didn’t stay behind to fix things, the entire timeline might collapse.

With the Origin duo gone, August returned Dialga and Palkia to their Poké Balls.

Irida and Arezu finally looked away.

At that moment, Arezu finally understood why August was so confident in getting the Diamond Clan to merge with the Origin Rocket Team!

Meanwhile, Irida was pondering a different question.

If Dialga and Palkia aren’t the true Sinnoh Lords, then who is?

Everything settled, the group started the journey back to Jubilife Village.

Gary, who’d been waiting the whole time for August to ask why he’d come to Hisui—and never got the chance—couldn’t hold back any longer. He sidled up to August. “August, guess which Pokémon I caught?”

“Which one?” August didn’t even look back.

“Suicune! Bet you didn’t see that coming!”

Gary looked at August expectantly, hoping for a shocked reaction.

August’s reply was just one word.

“Oh.”

The lackluster response made Gary feel as if he’d punched a pillow—frustratingly anticlimactic.

He waited for a while, but when it was clear August wasn’t going to react, Gary finally blurted out, “It’s Suicune! Aren’t you surprised at all?”

This was the first mythical Pokémon he’d ever caught! Couldn’t August at least give him something?

August glanced back at Gary, puzzled. “I fought Ho-Oh, you know. Even plucked some feathers to make Poké Balls. Suicune isn’t all that shocking, honestly.”

Gary: “.....”

He knew August was telling the truth. But because it was true, it stung even more.

Damn it!

August just wouldn’t give him the satisfaction.

Heh, you think you can brag in front of me?

Not wanting to crush Gary’s ego too hard, August decided to toss him a bone. “So, how did you catch Suicune, anyway?”

He was genuinely curious—had Gary just thrown a single ball, or what?

Gary perked right up, energized again. He lifted his chin, proud.

“Catch it? August, you’re selling me short. Suicune acknowledged me!”

“Oh?” August raised an eyebrow.

Gary launched into the same story he’d told Yellow and the others earlier.

“You might not believe it, but I was wandering in the forest and happened to run into a group of poachers after Suicune….”

“Poachers?” August caught the key word instantly, turning to Gary. “So you rescued Suicune from the poachers, and that’s why it acknowledged you?”

“Exactly!”

Gary pulled out his Friend Ball. A flash of white light, and Suicune appeared at his side.

There was no denying it—Suicune was striking.

The jewel on its forehead glittered, its purple mane and ribbon-like tails flowed in the breeze. It was worthy of its title as the North Wind’s avatar.

Yet, as August looked at Suicune, for some reason he couldn’t help picturing it trapped in a net.

The anime production team really did a number on this one…

August decided to set the record straight for Suicune, so he asked, “With Suicune’s strength, it shouldn’t be possible for a net to hold it, right…?”

But as soon as he finished, Suicune—who’d been looking proud—immediately stiffened. Gary froze too, his gaze darting away as he started whistling, refusing to answer directly.

August: “?”

What’s with those faces?

Don’t tell me… you really did rescue Suicune from a net?
