I, Noelle, Persuade With Reason! [6]

After lunch, Noelle lay down with Klee for a nap.

Even asleep, Klee was a restless little thing—rolling all over the bed, always kicking the blankets off.

When Noelle woke up, Klee was already sprawled out sideways, arms and legs everywhere, her soft, pale feet pressing against Noelle’s face.

I’ll let it slide, just because you’re so cute! Noelle sat up with a resigned smile, watching Klee’s peaceful sleeping face.

Half an hour later, Noelle woke Klee gently and helped the groggy little one get dressed and wash her face.

“Noelle, where are we going to play this afternoon?” Klee stood on a stool in front of the mirror, drying her face with a towel. Then she hopped down, tilting her head up to ask.

Noelle pinched her cheeks, thinking it over for a moment.

“There’ve been some bad people around Mondstadt lately. This afternoon, we’re going to visit Miss Lisa and let her teach you how to make new bombs, okay?” Noelle remembered Jean’s lunchtime reminder, and figured it’d be safest for Klee to spend a few days at the library.

“Okay! Bouncy bombs!” Klee was a good, obedient kid and didn’t ask for details, agreeing right away.

“Good girl. Now, lift your foot.”

Noelle helped her put on her boots, got them both ready, and took Klee to the library in search of Lisa.

The Mondstadt Library was famous throughout Teyvat for its rich collection and variety of books.

Noelle had found many interesting secrets here—The Boar Princess, The Legend of Vennessa, Collected Hilichurl Poetry, and more.

Ever since coming to this world, aside from looking after the girls, Noelle’s favorite thing was to spend hours at the library. She knew every nook and cranny by now.

Upon entering, Noelle led Klee straight to Lisa’s magical workshop.

Lisa was lounging on a bench, relaxing. When she saw Noelle and Klee, she put down her teacup with a lazy smile.

“Noelle, would you be interested in learning magic from me?” Lisa asked suddenly.

“Could I? I’d like to try.” Noelle was genuinely interested in the flexible, versatile arts of magic. Even though she was already max-level, more skills never hurt.

Lisa didn’t answer right away. Instead, she looked deep into Noelle’s eyes, paused thoughtfully, then smiled and walked around behind her, lightly touching Noelle’s back with her fingertips.

Noelle was always a little nervous around beautiful older women, and Lisa’s sudden touch made her go stiff, her breathing quickening and her face turning bright red.

Lisa noticed Noelle’s reaction and sighed softly. She lay back down on the bench, crossing her long legs sheathed in black stockings, every gesture exuding a languid, mature charm.

“I asked you the same question before, and you answered differently then. But, people do grow. You’re still as gentle, kind, and dependable as ever—that’s enough for me. Here’s a secret: I actually like the new you even better. Why don’t you come chat with me tonight?”

Lisa tapped her lips with a finger, giving a mysterious little smile.

Noelle caught on—was Lisa testing her? Either way, she didn’t mind. It was probably for the best if people got used to her changes sooner rather than later. But… chatting at night? About what? Some secret magic technique?

“All right. Should I come to your room tonight?” Noelle asked seriously.

“Eh? Ah—actually, I just remembered I’m busy these days. Let’s talk some other time. As for magic, you can start with Introduction to Magic. It’s only eight hundred pages, nice and simple.”

Lisa was caught off guard. She loved teasing cute girls, but if Noelle really took her up on it, she wouldn’t know what to do. With no other way out, she hastily found an excuse.

Noelle felt a bit let down. It looked like Lisa wasn’t planning on teaching her one-on-one after all. And learning from Introduction to Magic on her own? That’s asking for a death sentence!

“Oh, then I’ll get going. Klee, be good for Miss Lisa this afternoon, okay?” Noelle handed Klee over to Lisa, planning to go find Ella next.

Lisa nodded and waved for Klee to come over.

“Lisa… um, can you teach me to make bombs that don’t cook the fish?” After tasting Noelle’s cooking, Klee didn’t like the taste of fish cooked by explosions anymore.

“Let me see… That’s a tough one, but we can try!” Lisa was intrigued by the idea and started thinking it over in earnest.

Noelle left the workshop, gently closing the door behind them.

Suddenly, a thought struck her—nearly all the mages in Teyvat were girls: Lisa, Klee, Barbara, Ningguang, Sucrose, Mona… There must be loads at the Sumeru Akademiya too. With that many, the place was probably full of campus stories like “Strawberry Panic.” No wonder Lisa was such a pro at flirting with girls.

Noelle couldn’t help imagining some rather “yuri” scenarios, and her mind went a little fuzzy. When she ran into Ella, the other girl actually thought Noelle was coming down with something.

“I’m fine, just a little warm. Oh, right—these are my notes from this morning. There are a few phrases I’ve never seen before. Take a look.”

Noelle quickly changed the subject, pulling out her notebook and handing it to Ella.

Ella perked up right away, eagerly taking the notes and climbing onto a chair to study them intently.

Noelle noticed Ella’s feet didn’t reach the floor—definitely just a little girl. Flora at the flower shop was the same way.

Back when she was just a player, Noelle used to joke about miHoYo’s fondness for “little girl” characters, but now that she could meet them up close, she actually wished there were more.

“If we could communicate with hilichurls, maybe we could tame them,” Ella said suddenly.

“Yeah, maybe.” Noelle thought of the Abyss, Khaenri’ah, and ancient civilizations. If they could talk to hilichurls, so many mysteries might be solved.

Ella fell into deep thought again. Noelle knew it would be a while before there were any results.

After describing the hilichurl’s tone and circumstances, Noelle left the library and headed for Jean’s office.

Jean, as always, was far too dedicated. As a powerful knight, she’d even worked herself sick before. With her own experience as an office drone, Noelle hated busywork but couldn’t stand to see Jean shouldering everything alone.

So, for the first time, Noelle offered to help out. Maybe it was the surprise, but Jean didn’t refuse.

With her office experience, Noelle quickly got the hang of paperwork and sometimes massaged Jean’s shoulders when she was tired.

In just a dozen days, Noelle became Jean’s unofficial secretary—helping with work and daily life. The other Knights stopped bothering Noelle with trivialities, and Jean grew more and more reliant on her, even letting her come and go freely from the office.

But when Noelle opened the door, she found two Fatui envoys standing inside.

“For the safety of Mondstadt’s people, we, the Fatui, are willing to make sacrifices. Leave Stormterror to us.”
