Pokémon: My Titles Know No Limits! [422]

Sada and Turo’s eyes lit up simultaneously, both staring at the Pokémon emerging from the brilliant white light.
Gary, on the other hand, was completely dumbfounded.
The Pokémon before them had a pale blue body adorned with white diamond-shaped markings, a sapphire-like crest on its head, and a mane of soft, fluffy lavender fur. Two tails swayed idly behind it...
If you described all these traits on any forum, and asked a hundred people to guess which Pokémon this was, you’d get a hundred confident answers:
“That’s Suicune, one of Johto’s three legendary beasts!”
But—
Looking at the Pokémon before them—
It did have a pale blue body with diamond patterns, but instead of Suicune’s graceful quadrupedal stance, it stood upright on two legs. Its forelimbs, raised in front of its chest, gave off an odd, almost comical vibe.
The sapphire crest was there too, but if Suicune’s headpiece was a masterfully carved work of art, then this Pokémon’s looked more like something a caveman had chipped out of a stone—crooked and uneven.
And perhaps most jarring of all, the two flowing “ribbons” that defined Suicune as the Aurora Pokemon—right now, they were just tails.
Split tails, no less.
Taking in the wild, almost feral aura of this creature—so utterly unlike Suicune’s usual elegance—Gary couldn’t help but turn to August and ask,
“August, is this also a Paradox Pokémon?”
August glanced at him. “Congratulations, you got it right.”
By now, the new arrival had also spotted Suicune. The two Pokémon stared at each other, silent.
Suddenly, the Paradox Suicune lunged straight at Suicune.
Gary jumped. “Suicune, dodge!”
Suicune leapt aside, but the Paradox Suicune was far faster, pouncing and pinning Suicune to the ground in an instant.
“Wroaar~!”
Suicune tensed, ready to fight back—yet found, strangely, that it didn’t hurt?
Just as that thought crossed its mind, the Paradox Suicune lowered its head and started nuzzling against Suicune’s body, clearly overjoyed.
“Uh…”
No one in the room had seen that coming.
Suicune, though, was clearly not enjoying this. It kicked its legs, trying to shove the Paradox Suicune away.
But the Paradox Suicune seemed dead set on sticking close—no matter how Suicune struggled, it just kept snuggling closer.
And as one of the three legendary beasts, Suicune had its principles: if the other party wasn’t attacking, it wouldn’t attack back.
So what everyone saw was Suicune lying flat, a look of utter defeat on its face, while the Paradox Suicune rubbed happily all over it.
Seeing this, Gary quietly shuffled a couple of steps to the side, putting distance between himself and Suicune, turning his head as if pretending not to know it.
Iono muttered, “It… looks like it really likes Suicune?”
August stroked his chin. “Maybe it feels some kind of kinship…”
As he spoke, August glanced at Cogita. By now, she’d lifted her head, absentmindedly stroking the three tufts atop Psyduck’s head.
Meeting August’s gaze, she just smiled.
August gave Mew a gentle flick on the forehead, opening their telepathic channel.
[GardevoirSupremacy]: Cogita, was this your doing?
[GardevoirSupremacy]: There’s no way the Time Machine would activate on its own. Besides Sada and Turo, you’re the only one in this room with clearance!
[Cogita (traveling)]: (puzzled) What are you talking about? I have no idea...
[GardevoirSupremacy]: ( ̄— ̄)
[GardevoirSupremacy]: We all know each other too well for this. Are you seriously going to play dumb?
[GardevoirSupremacy]: Whatever. You’re the strongest here. If you say so, you’re always right.
August glanced at Suicune, who was finally getting back up, only to be harassed again by the Paradox Suicune, and turned to Sada and Turo.
“So, Dr. Sada, Dr. Turo—what are your plans now?”
The two AI replied, “We want to travel through the Time Machine. To see for ourselves what the world of the Paradox Pokémon is really like…”
August asked, “Are you sure that’s really the past or future you want to visit?”
“I’ve been to Hisui a thousand years ago. There were no Paradox Pokémon there.”
The sheer weight of that statement left the AI professors processing for a good while.
Sada/Turo: “You mean…”
August: “The ‘past’ and ‘future’ you’re aiming for may not actually be the real ‘past’ or ‘future’ at all.”
The two AI fell silent.
Truth be told, the moment they saw the Paradox Suicune, they’d started to suspect as much.
Their database held detailed records of the three legendary beasts. Pokémon created by Ho-Oh in Johto a mere hundred years ago—how could such a creature have a Paradox form from the ancient past?
But at their core, the AI still carried the deepest wishes of Professors Sada and Turo.
Before their creators died, their greatest desire was to glimpse the world where ancient and future Paradox Pokémon lived.
Still, AI was AI. Emotions aside, they were not blinded by sentiment.
If August was saying this, it had to be for a reason.
“What do you suggest, Mr. August?” Turo asked.
August smiled faintly. “You two don’t just want to visit the world of Paradox Pokémon, do you?”
“From what I know, you always dreamed of building a paradise for Paradox Pokémon. That’s how Project Paradise began, isn’t it?”
Sada: “Mr. August, are you saying—?”
August gestured grandly at the two AI Professors. “Allow me to introduce the president of the Aether Foundation, Lusamine!”
“The Aether Foundation has vast experience in protecting rare Pokémon and creating sanctuaries. With their support, the Paradox Pokémon Paradise in Area Zero will become a reality.”
“As Lusamine’s representative, I’d like to hire you both as paradise consultants.”
The two professors looked at Lusamine, who had been silent the whole time, seemingly content to let August take the lead.
They hesitated. “Mr. August, what’s your relationship with President Lusamine?”
The moment August heard that, he knew something was off. He immediately replied, “I’m Lillie’s—”
But before he could finish, Lusamine stepped forward, smoothly looping her arm through his and declaring affectionately, “August is my husband!”
Both professors’ processors froze.

[Adding new data… Update complete!]
“…”
Listening to the mechanical voices coming from the two AI, August shot Lusamine a sideways look.
Are you doing this on purpose, or just playing dumb?
Lusamine blinked innocently.
August ultimately decided to let it go. Lusamine was just playing her own little game.
The happier she was now, the more embarrassed she’d be once she got her memories back.
At that point, she’d wish for a hole to crawl into. Or a whole Aether Paradise to hide in. And Mew wouldn’t get chips for a week!
With that thought, August’s mood instantly improved.
...
In the end, the professors accepted August’s proposal. Building a paradise for Paradox Pokémon was truly their dream, after all, and didn’t conflict with their core programming.
Once Lusamine finished showing off, she turned back into a businesswoman, diving straight into the nitty-gritty of paradise construction with the professors, her aura in full force.
Since the professors had already obtained permission from the Paldea League to build a paradise in Area Zero, it all came together quickly:
Aether Foundation would fund and manage the project, maintaining the facility and holding 70% ownership of the new sanctuary.
The AI professors would provide construction rights, research data, the Time Machine, and even their own bodies, giving Arven the remaining 30% ownership.
Just like that, Arven had suddenly become one of Paldea’s wealthiest citizens.
Arven looked utterly shocked.
Turo smiled gently. “Though we’re only copies of the original professors, we still understand the debt they felt toward you…”
Sada nodded, eyes warm. “Think of this as our small way of making it up to you.”
Arven’s eyes welled with tears.
Unable to hold it in, he cried out, “Dad! Mom!”
Then he ran forward, throwing himself into their arms.
Lusamine watched the scene, envy glinting in her eyes. “August, would you call this a happy ending?”
August stroked his chin, considering. “Close enough…”
“If only there were an old butler, then it’d be perfect.”
...
So, it was all over.
The investigator had been found, Area Zero’s crisis resolved, Arven reunited with his ‘parents’—a true triple win for August.
Except for Gary.
Gary: “Let go of my Suicune!”
The Paradox Suicune nuzzled Suicune again, then glanced smugly at Gary: “Wroo~!”
Gary, looking utterly defeated, could only turn to August. “August, help me get rid of that thing!”
August’s eyes flashed as he patted Mew in his arms. “Gary, we’ve known each other a long time—when did it get like this between us?”
“I know you caught Suicune, became Champion of Kanto. Everyone calls you Master Gary now, and you’re living the dream. You have a legion of fans—you don’t need me.”
“And now, you come to me and say: ‘August, help me get rid of that Paradox Suicune!’”
“But you don’t show me any respect. You don’t even see me as your mentor. You won’t even call me August-sensei.”
“And on the day of my celebration, you want me to clean up this mess for you.”
Gary had no idea what August was going on about, so he could only mumble, “I just want you to beat that thing so it’ll leave Suicune alone…”
August: “That’s not fair. Paradox Suicune just wants to be close to Suicune…”
Gary patted his chest. “August, if you help me out, I’ll do whatever you want!”
But to his surprise, August only sighed, handing Mew off to Cogita, and looked at Gary seriously.
“Gary, what have I ever done to make you disrespect me like this?”
“If you’d come to me as my disciple, the Paradox Suicune harassing yours would be punished, and never bother you again. But now, you insult me by asking like this.”
“I’ll give you one more chance to rephrase. Well?”
He held out his hand.
Gary took a deep breath and bowed. “August-sensei!”
August: “Louder! How can you be a Champion if you’re so timid?”
Gary squeezed his eyes shut and yelled, “August-sensei!”
August nodded in satisfaction. “Good! That’s the spirit. That’s what I expect from my disciple!”
“From now on, the Paradox Suicune won’t bother yours again. You have my word!”
With that, August produced a Master Ball, tilting his head to signal Deoxys.
In the blink of an eye, both the Master Ball and Deoxys vanished from his side—at the same moment, the Paradox Suicune pinning Suicune was knocked clean off.
When the Paradox Suicune finally picked itself up, it looked up to see Deoxys floating above, two tentacles extended—one forming a [Shadow Ball], the other holding a Master Ball, glaring down.
Feeling the overwhelming pressure radiating from Deoxys and the sheer power packed into the [Shadow Ball], the Paradox Suicune gulped and flattened itself on the ground.
Deoxys tossed the Master Ball.
The Paradox Suicune was sucked inside. Deoxys floated back to August, Master Ball in hand.
Tossing the Master Ball lightly, August patted Gary on the shoulder. “Maybe you’ll be of use to me someday, maybe not.”
“But for now, consider this my gift to you.”
Gary: “……”
He’s really something else, Gary thought. Probably crazy.
But there was no way he’d ever say that out loud, so he just nodded obediently.
Looking at Suicune, tears streamed down Gary’s face.
After all that, I finally got Suicune back!
As Gary sobbed and hugged his Suicune, August turned to the now composed Arven and his ‘parents.’
“By the way, professors—I read in your notes that both Miraidon and Koraidon were each summoned twice. But I only see one of each now… what happened to the other two?”
If the professors had two Miraidon and two Koraidon, there’s no way they wouldn’t have used them earlier.
At his question, the two professors exchanged a glance, not bothering to hide the truth.
“The second batch was far too aggressive. They ended up fighting with the first ones, and were driven out of Area Zero.”
“If you can find them, Mr. August, and take them in, we’d be very grateful!”
As they spoke, Turo and Sada each produced a detector and a Poké Ball.
Looking at the detectors, August suddenly had the feeling that Sada and Turo had been planning for this all along.
