The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [446]

Beneath Schubert’s feet, down in the earth below, a rather odd little group was gathered.

Paimon was holding up a glowing lantern, casting flickering light through the cramped space, while Jia Changjiang was digging away at the earth with an iron pickaxe.

Lumine sat perched on Jia Changjiang’s shoulders, both hands pressed against the tunnel ceiling as she focused, channeling Geo energy to sense Schubert’s position above.

“Jia Changjiang, hurry up! Schubert’s almost out of range!” Lumine urged, still atop his shoulders, brow furrowed in concentration as she tracked their target.

In the end, Lumine and Jia Changjiang had decided to follow this old aristocrat named Schubert.

Armed with a Minecraft pickaxe, they tunneled through the ground and slipped into the hidden domain.

With this route, they managed to blend right into the Fatui’s operations undetected.

They watched—helplessly, but with their own eyes—as Schubert walked straight into the Fatui’s base.

Someone there was already questioning him, probing to see if he’d brought along anyone he shouldn’t have.

But as for Lumine and Jia Changjiang? Their infiltration went off without a hitch; the Fatui’s search didn’t catch a whiff of them.

“Noble affairs are none of your business! I don’t have time for your nonsense—out of my way!”
Schubert snapped at the Fatui agent blocking his path.

The agent bristled, wanting to snap back—
“So arrogant. Not sure he’s got the skills to match that attitude…”
—but in the end, the Fatui let Schubert through into the domain.

Soon after, Schubert came face-to-face with the Fatui’s leader here: a man named Sergey.

“All right, enough small talk. Did you bring what you promised—the Mondstadt city defense plans?” Sergey’s voice was direct.

Their conversation carried down through the earth, clear as day to Lumine and Jia Changjiang below.

Now this is some explosive intel right out the gate…
Lumine couldn’t help but mutter.

Above, there was a moment’s silence—then Schubert’s voice rang out.

“Of course! Nobility never goes back on its word.”

He presented the document. “Here. This is the city’s defense layout you wanted.”

Rustling paper. Sergey’s skeptical voice:
“Let me see… Uh—why is it so ugly?! These lines are all wobbly, and what are these squares and circles supposed to be?!”

Schubert’s face darkened. “What did you say?! I spent ages drawing this, piece by piece!”

“Those aren’t just random shapes—they’re the insignia of the Knights of Favonius!” he snapped. “If you don’t want it, then give it back!”

“Whatever. It’s crude, but I suppose I can make sense of it… Can you guarantee all this information is reliable?” Sergey pressed.

“Hmph! Do you know who you’re talking to?” Schubert sneered. “I am—a noble of Mondstadt!”

Lumine glanced at Jia Changjiang.

He really didn’t change, huh? Even after that scolding Jia Changjiang gave him…

Jia Changjiang listened to the voices above, eyes narrowed in thought.

“Now, on to the rest of our agreement,” Sergey continued.
“The rights to the Knights’ headquarters, as well as control of Mondstadt—once the Fatui take the city, all of it will go to the Lawrence clan. But for diplomatic reasons, don’t reveal our involvement anywhere.”

“Mmm,” Schubert murmured quietly, which immediately set Sergey on edge.

That wasn’t like Schubert. Normally, this was the moment he’d start boasting about the Lawrence family ruling Mondstadt again.

But today… he was silent?

“Jia Changjiang, isn’t it time we went up?” Lumine tapped Jia Changjiang’s head.

“Yeah. Let’s go.” There was a glint in Jia Changjiang’s eye.

Just as they prepared to break through, Lumine suddenly picked up on something with her Geo sense, the faint sounds of battle, from deeper within the domain.

It sounded like the Fatui were fighting someone at the entrance.

“Wait… that’s the Knights of Favonius. And… Eula!”

After listening more closely, Lumine said, “Looks like Eula’s already here with her team, raiding the Fatui!”

“We should hurry up! Or else there won’t be any credit left for us!”

“Got it.”

Jia Changjiang hefted his pickaxe and struck upward.

Before Schubert and Sergey’s astonished eyes, the ground above them suddenly caved in. Out popped a golden-haired girl riding on the shoulders of a burly, black-haired man, as if they’d burst straight from the earth itself.

The moment Schubert saw Lumine and Jia Changjiang, he instinctively shouted in anger, “You?!”

That was the one who’d punched him and then vanished—and the other, who’d chewed him out.

“Honorary Knights of Mondstadt, at your service! Lumine! Jax! And with me, the greatest companion a knight could have… Paimon!”

Paimon zipped out and announced at full volume, “The evidence is all here! We’re here to put a stop to your evil plans!”

“You…!” Schubert was stunned. “You… you’re the Honorary Knights of the Knights of Favonius?”

“Hmph! You’re the one who tried to make me kneel, aren’t you?” Lumine shot Schubert a cold look.

She no longer needed to hide her identity for the sake of intel gathering.
Today… the battle goddess was back! Lumine was Mondstadt’s Honorary Knight!

“And in the end, you still came crawling to the Fatui,” Jia Changjiang remarked, sparing Schubert a glance.

So much for yelling sense into him.
Was it really too much to expect this kind of person to turn back?

Schubert’s face darkened; he turned and ran for the exit.

“Should never have trusted such a brainless noble! Followed for so long and he didn’t even notice!” Paimon huffed.

“It’s fine, looks like that way’s a dead end,” Lumine said. “This domain only has one way out.”

“Let’s regroup with Eula and the others, then fight back together!” she called. “We’ll have to catch Schubert too…”

“All that time tracking him, and in the end he still handed Mondstadt’s defense plans to the Fatui.” Lumine was fuming. “Hmph! What is he even thinking—still clinging to those delusions about restoring the Lawrence clan’s ‘glory’ or whatever?”

“Restoring the clan’s glory?”

Jia Changjiang raised an eyebrow.

Come to think of it… Just before we broke in, Schubert… didn’t say a word after handing over the map, did he?
