Rise of the Golden Idol E9 - Night at the Museum

It's way spookier than a living T Rex skeleton, and somehow even more confusing.

(Replying to GeorgianSweater) Figuring out that it is not Oriel Toussaint is extremely important to the story of the game. I think it's safe to say almost every player puts in Oriel first and sees that it's wrong, and that's totally the point. The game is forcing you to learn the mechanics of the world. Oriel is incorrect because is required for you to know that Oriel *becomes* Echo for future cases. And the reason it does the name change in the middle of the story is because he only becomes Echo after getting all of the memories.

(Replying to julian here, can't figure out how to do it directly.) While I agree that it's weird for the middle of the scene, this game and the previous have renamed characters twice, (now thrice) like (LARGE spoilers for previous game) Edmund Cloudsley -> Lazarus Hearst so I don't think the renaming was too drastic. the guy you were replying to was a bit harsh about it though

I think what Tyler was caught up on was that Oriel vs. Echo Secunda was just a different phrasing of the situation. Tyler figured out the crux of the scene but the game only allows this particular phrasing. Would be nice if it accepted multiple answers as in Return of the Obra Dinn.

This comes off as aggressive. I agree, you're completely right with your logic and reasoning, but you could have taken the time to word this more kindly, and there was no need to insult Tyler at the end of your paragraph, either. Another thing to add is that it is a bit odd to rename a character in the middle of the scene, especially in this game which has been consistent with how the story has been told so far.

Tyler! hope to see you recover soon. FYI (0:52) a disaccharide (die-sack-a-ride) is a molecule consisting of two sugars bonded together, such as sucrose (glucose+fructose). sucrose is ordinary table sugar :)

I watched the movie before watching this video

The pictures painted a pretty clear picture if you actually took the time to think about them for 2 seconds. It shows a crow being completely turned unto a deer. It's not a deer-crow, it's just a deer. That's the clue that tells you Oriel is gone. He was overwritten by Echo. Your logic feels like it's been slipping with this series, cause the stuff you're struggling on seems so obvious. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

If we convert the number from the calculator to years, we get approximately 649,230.2 years. That's a lot more than a single lifetime, I'm just wondering how many lifetimes did this Echo Secunda live, by using this method again and again to transfer to a new body? This would also explain why we can consider the memory receiver being Echo Secunda, since a few decades is nothing compared to hundreds of thousands of years. The next part is for math nerds: By multiplying all of the minutes written in the notebook, the result is 341,461,986,807.80528892 min. By diving with 60 we get hours, divide by 24 and we get days, and then divide by 365.242374 to get years, and we get approximately 649,230.2 years. If we take the initial number directly from the game, for which the decimals are approximated to .81, and approximate a year to 365.25 days, we get approximately 649,216.65 years, and if we forget about bisect years completely and say that a year is 365 days, the result is approximately 649,661.31. To me, it's fascinating how just a small error meant a preteen's current lifetime, and with bigger errors, we already reached hundreds of years of difference.

Ship of Theseus type thinking at the end there

The Whole Oriel-Echo thing confused me for so long to the point I just looked it up, It feels incorrect to rename people mid-scene based on the memories they have.

Aaron Brownlee

The story of Ock is supposed to give you that. When Crow becomes Deer because of all the memories implanted, Crow stops being Crow entirely. That’s why the answer is Echo. I agree that it’s a bit fatuous but there is some rationale

I was actually wondering if anything happened, glad you are OK. Hopefully this isnt scheduled post.
