The Device Part 1

There are some... interesting... events that are going to happen with this one.

Just understand that while John is smart, he's less "Got a Degree" smart and more "This guy might accidentally blow himself up one day" smart.

John was sitting at the table, trying to perfect the algorithm. I've got the hardware in there, he thought to himself, I just have to program it correctly and it will do exactly what I want. He hadn't totally forgotten that Adie was on her way over, but he had gotten a little more invested into tweaking this than he had realized. By the time Adie got there, it was almost done but as luck would have it: this part is where field testing came into play.

Adie had gotten ready in the car. John said he was going to have a surprise ready for her, but she was planning a surprise of her own. She had gotten ready in the car and was ready to walk in and make his jaw drop. They had officially been dating for 2 years, so she really wanted to knock him out with how good she looked. She knocked on his door, and heard his muffled reply, beckoning her in. She slowly opened the door and leaned up against the doorframe, giving him the most "bedroom" eyes she could muster. He was sitting at the table. Back turned to her. On his phone?! There was no feast prepared for her like last year. No flowers, no chocolates. It didn't even look like he had finished getting ready! She wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt though, and cleared her throat. Without turning around he said, "come on in, love, I'm just finishing up your surprise." She was more intrigued, but her patience was running thinner than she'd ever be, so she tried getting his attention one more time, "hey there, handsome. Did someone order a scantily-clad girlfriend for their anniversary? Because there might be one waiting for you." Cheesy lines aside, he finally turned to look. His eyes lit up and he exclaimed, "Oh!" He figured the only way to get out of this one was a cheesy line right back, "I think someone else may have put in this order for me, but I'm more than happy to accept!" Adie smiled. That's all she had wanted. He followed with, "But now it's time for my surprise to you. Take a look!"
