"P-Prompto?"

Prompto flubbed Crownsguard training and it absolutely killed Regis but they couldn't pass him or find any kind of loophole to allow him to travel with Noctis without it being obvious that there was some ulterior motive.

It was a terrible decision to make and one he felt Noctis might never forgive him for when it all went wrong if Prompto didn't make it out but he figured at the very least the boy was well trained so he stood more of a chance than most.

He never thought that Prompto's first instinct when danger struck wasn't to run away, it wasn't even to protect the King - it was to protect Noct's dad. And Gladio's by proxy of course.

He summoned the biggest blade he could wield (not the best mind you but he had the element of surprise on his side), and used all his strength.

This was the first time he ever killed anything, besides that one goldfish his parents had gotten him to keep him company that he's accidentally over fed.

Luna and Regis are both shocked because by all rights, Regis should be dead right now but apparently not even the Astrals factored in one Prompto Argentum. Clarus is quick to remind them that if they don't get out of there soon the prophecy might yet come to pass but Regis hushes him because Prompto looks ready to shake out of his skin.

He holds him tight, Prompto will freak out later about the fact that he cried on the king but for now he just holds on for dear life.

"I know you were hurt when you were not allowed to travel with Noctis, but I for one am suddenly very glad of this fact dear boy."
