Spiritual Hygiene Pt 1.

Good morning moon babes! I have been talking about spiritual hygiene a bunch this week and figured I would start a series on here of spiritual hygiene tips and tricks I find important to incorporate into spiritual practice. Walking through life is incredible, there are omens, spirits, opportunities, and so much more that you encounter every day and with that I believe should come to some daily or weekly practices that we do as spiritualists to keep us clean, clear, and protected as we walk through life. Spirit work opens you up to more energies coming into contact with you, whether that’s because you have high energy and they are attracted to ir or because you are genuinely calling in more spirits and energies down doing your workings that linger around.

Hands and Feet

-I know I’ve spoken about how important personally in my craft keeping my hands and feet spiritually cleansed and clear is. I posted the Spiritual Hygiene Feet and Hands Wash a couple weeks back. Your hands and feet encounter so much energy throughout your day, you are always walking into spaces, around places, and touching things. You could be walking over a trick or shaking someone’s hands that have nefarious intentions, or picking up an item that doesn’t have the best energy.

-Washing your hands and feet with Florida Water, salt water, Holy Water, rubbing camphor on your hands and feet, hyssop, pink salt, smoke cleansing them, sound cleansing them, using a lavender and pink salt scrub, honestly SO many ways!

Head / Crown

-Keeping your head clear, and protected, while being open to messages from your highest good personally is important.

-The ways you’d like to go about this can be creative and are up to you. Veiling, using oils, powders, and protective jewelry braided into your hair,

-With protecting your crown it is also important to find a way that you can cleanse your crown often. I am someone who uses a scalp scrub with my wash and deep condition days, so I have enchanted and added a few things to that scrub to aid in cleansing while cleaning my scalp. Then will follow up with oils, prayers, braids ect.

-Tips - Headbands, and clips, can all be enchanted for protection.

Mind

-This can be meditation, active meditation, going on walks, or something that grounds and centers you entirely. You realistically want to do this daily, but starting somewhere that you can do in a ritualistic/ sustainable way try and start there. You want to build a routine not start and gas yourself out in two weeks.

-Some simple ways you might find useful is plants around your space, touching their leaves and grounding yourself is a way to do this without leaving your home. Or touching trees, facing the sun with your eyes closed for a few moments on the way out of your home as well.

Altar

-If you have an altar you work normally try to keep a scheduled cleaning and refresh of your sacred space. Even during times, you don’t find yourself working at/on your altar or doing rituals I find it important to keep your space and spirits energy high. This is important to keep your protections in place as well, keep water fresh, light incense or simple offerings that can be sustainable for you.

-Some spirits will not accept this kind of working relationship but that is something you would know prior to building them an altar and working with them. For those Spirits/Deities ect this weekly or low maintenance does not apply, and that is okay!

Ancestors

-I try to always keep clean water, offerings of some sort/candies of my ancestor’s favorites always on the altar, as well as shot glasses of alcohol for easily replacing. Along with this, I like to keep a routine of smoke cleansing their sacred space and ringing their bell. When I am having lulls or am super SUPER busy with other things I try to offer them incense and coffee on the altar. It both keeps me running and them happy to watch me work haha.

–Find offerings, cleansings, and honoring styles that work for you that can be sustained weekly if not even simply daily. This for me made a huge difference for me in my spirituality and as a whole person/my life entirely.

Divination

-I like to TRY and pull cards every day. Most often it is oracle because I am able to read the overall picture better. I tend to fixate on the multiple ways you can read nuances in cards and how they play into each other and then will find myself second-guessing the whole reading. Due to this, I pull cards first thing in the morning when I am closest to my dreams with my ancestors and less likely to read toooo far into things and receive messages as they’d like.

-Runes, shells, charms, divining with your coffee grounds, truly any style of divination that you like and can do on a more sustainable basis pick that. This is a good way to check with your spirits/ deities/ highest good on how you are doing, if you are on the right path, omens if you need to cleanse ect. This is also a fun way to see the things you might face within the day and see the overall energy of your day ahead. Likewise reflecting at the end of the day is amazing as well.

These are some of the things I like to implement in my daily and weekly spiritual hygiene. I will be making this a series and adding to it so please let me know if you have any questions or want to share ways you keep yourself spiritually cleansed on a sustainable level.

Blessed be,

Stass 🤍🔮🌙
