Just a quick note on Bam and Rachel's relationship. It is not simply a mother-son or lover relationship. Rachel is the only living being Bam knew throughout his life. She filled in the role of mother, sister, friend, love interest yet she was not really any of them. This makes the betrayal exponentially worse, as it is almost like his entire world betrayed him.
