Naruto Shippuden Ep. 420

yeah i feel like they handled that a bit wrong. Thematically, him being that doesn't inherently ruin the underdog aspect of his character. If you think about it, him being the reincarnation gives him the POTENTIAL for great things, like any hero's journey protagonist. Being choasen by fate doesn't make someone any less of an underdog as long as long as they still have to struggle to achieve their goals. BUt toward the end, it feels too much like the entire world revolves around naruto and sasuke. They just keep piling stuff on to make their relationship more cosmicaly important than it already is to the point where it starts to erode that underdog theme. This is why the pain arc works so well (among many other reasons). Because Naruto, while still being the student of jiraya, son of the fourth, jinchuriki of the strongest tailed beast, he is still the underdog going into his training. He goes through great personal stuggle both in the fight and in his training, even going the extra mile beyond what he's being taught by his master by incorporating the rasenshuriken into his sage mode. compare all of that to the end of the war arc where he just recieves godlike abilities just for existing. Regardless of his own personality (given that sasuke as corrupted as he was, still got the same powers, so there wasn't even a moral component to receiving the six paths power). TLDR; I agree.
