Ik its been a month and I'm really late to the party and that y'all've already finished and moved on, but I think what y'all didnt quite catch on to in ep 8 is that David is motivated by wanting to replace Maine and take over Maine's goal of leading the team and protecting everyone else. As for his mom though, I think its more fair a critique. Another thing is that these characters of Lucy and David are very young and at this stage David is already losing his mind from trauma, and traumatized people without the right support tend to make irrational and emotional decisions. On Lucy's part, the reason she is afraid of telling David about Arasaka's plans is, in my opinion, that she believes David will try and take them head-on and get himself killed doing so. Anyways, apologies for the super late mini-essay. Thanks for reading, anyone who reads this

There was a lot of talk that you should not trust anyone in night city. I like to think that the last scene is Lucy realizing that her dream wasn't wanting to go to the moon, she wanted someone she could trust. David was that person for her and now that she achieved what she thought was her dream, it felt empty with him gone.

Maine definitely cared about dorio that was the final straw that made him lose it. Also that’s why you see David and dorio in maines hallucinations, because even though he has lost it he still cares about em enough that he sees them

Yah the anime is canon and takes place a few years before the games story. if you played the game you would've already known he was dead so I think the anime led with that lol in game david has a drink named after him and they only name people drinks when they go out in a blaze of glory
