the meowy = nyako translation is because it's supposed to be a very uncreative name for a cat nyako = nya (japanese cat sound) + neko (cat) in the manga the translations have kept this consistent by always giving the cat an uncreatively equivalent name (in spanish it's just "gatito", which is "little cat" or "kitty" basically)
