It hurt him a lot when he used the mangekyo, and he didn’t know how much itachi had used the mangekyo up till when they fought. Itachi was almost blind too, so the risk of becoming blind, as well as not knowing if his body could handle using the amataresu that much against such a strong opponent as Killer Bee, it might have killed him, so i think that’s why he thought of them, but also because his current team had sacrificed so much for him.
